Advertise a PSP for sale on Craigslist. You'll get someone wanting to pay you "$50$ more than your'e asking prise if sale is immedeate and now". They will want to pay with a "USPS Postal Money Order Cheque".
Agree to this. Give them the address of your local crack house and estimate the weight of the product at 2-3kg. Wait for the prepaid Fedex label to show up in your email along with the "Congratulations! USPS MONEY CHEQUE POSTAL ORDER" (ooh! flashy animated gifs!) and an address in Lagos.
Find some local rocks - three of them. Write P - S - P, one letter on each. Make sure the weight is similar to what you'd agreed to send to said scammer. Package'em up and write your little victory note.
Feel better about yourself and smile, smile, smile. A taste of one's own medicine, from what I hear, is quite bitter. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -18/+123"White people are too gullible. They are rich, and whatever I gyp them out of is small change to them."
You know what? He's absolutely right. Westerners (white people) are INCREDIBLY gullible when it comes to these sorts of things. This is why social engineering scams are so damn effective. People need to wise up. - Zopmaz, on 10/12/2007, -7/+98We all do.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -3/+93nobi-wan: read this http://www.zug.com/pranks/powerbook/
everyone who hasn't seen it, go check it out, it is HILARIOUS
the scammer gets scammed. an internet classic. - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -3/+87I had a roommate who was trusting enough to send his laptop and thought his payment was verified. I want to beat this kids ass, too.
"White people are too gullible. They are rich, and whatever I gyp them out of is small change to them."
Not only a racist but a cocky little bastard. My friend is not rich and this set him back financially for over a year and is still recovering from his "small change" loss. - rasterbator, on 10/12/2007, -5/+83he is probably the reason i started getting 150 pieces of SPAM per day in my Yahoo! account.
- neoform, on 10/12/2007, -6/+74No no.. he's just trying to "feed his family" with the millions he steals from others..
- shiftt, on 10/12/2007, -15/+79***** it then. If our government doesn't want to sanction nigeria and force them to fix their own ***** problem, then we should start DOS'ing their internet cafes

FTA: Akin is, like many things in cyberspace, an alias. In real life he's 14. He wears Adidas sneakers, a Rolex Submariner watch, and a kilo of gold around his neck.
I admire your sense of empathy, but I'm having a little trouble trying to decide how the Rolex and the kilo of gold around his neck is helping either he, or his extended family get out of poverty. - heff, on 10/12/2007, -4/+65one day, one of those gullible white people is going to show up at his front door, rather upset, and armed.
- smartpatrol, on 10/12/2007, -3/+61One Laptop Per Child is starting to sound a lot less compelling right about now.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -16/+59I wanna kick his ass too! I'm just surprised that Nigeria has the internet!
- jiminoc, on 10/12/2007, -6/+49Or as Akin puts it, "White people are too gullible. They are rich, and whatever I gyp them out of is small change to them."
that little ***** - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -6/+46i think we are all having that same temptation at the moment..
(oops, simul-post with zopmaz) - plamoni, on 10/12/2007, -3/+32I 100% agree. This story is complete nonsense. It praises the kid like some kind of "boy wonder"... "He is the main provider for his family"!!! What they completely leave out is that this kid is the worst kind of criminal. He steals people's livelihood. Go back a couple weeks and read the digg story about a poor "gullible white man" who was ripped off to the tune of $600,000 that HE DIDN'T HAVE. What this kid does is no better then breaking into someones house and taking their money. If some drug dealer makes a million dollars selling crack to 12-year-olds, do we write a story about him and talk about what a great guy he is for his family?
I think not.
I have lost almost all respect for Fortune. - BBryan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+30i hope Nigeria is not on the list to get MITs $100 laptops.
http://www.419eater.com/html/letters.htm - quite amusing site about these Nigerian scammers. - ModernGeek, on 10/12/2007, -11/+38I say we cut off all of our aid to Africa until they sign some sort of mutual arrest agreement with the United States. Why give them money when they are going to simply call us the evil man and scam us by the time they can start walking and talking? Sure, they are starving kids, and we should help them, but if they had a gun and chance, they would probably shoot each and every one of us Americans and Western Europeans.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27Out of curiosity as to how people like this operate, I was poking around some of the more shady IRC chans, till I came accross this: on the Irc.CCpowerOnline.Net server, channel #ccpower (IIRC), one can find 100-300 people swapping, generating, validating, and using stolen credit cards and bank logins. Personally, it was quite scary to witness. They have bots in the channel that can pump out a CC# at the drop of a hat. It is a true den of thieves.
I am not sharing this information to encourage illegal behaviour - heavens no!. I am simply empowering those who do not know their enemy.
A 14 year old millionare? piece of cake, with what they have access to. - p9s50W5k4GUD2c6, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25"It is my God-given talent. Our politicians, they do their own; me, I'm doing my own. I feed my family - my sister, my mother, my popsie. Man must survive."
Hey 'Popsie": What's a 'poor' kid to do nowadays? - Nobi-Wan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+23He doesn't care. His backwards government is corrupt enough to let a police officer who stole 100s of millions of dollars just get a slap on the wrist with a 6 month sentence.
- flamingmb, on 10/12/2007, -18/+40This is exactly the reason we need to shut off internet access to nigeria as a whole. just cut them off.
- tomvendetta, on 10/12/2007, -2/+23The cafe needs a long over-due DDOS attack.
- simba, on 10/12/2007, -2/+21Being from Africa. I really get pissed of by scams being run by Nigerians. Also considering many western citizens bad geographical knowledge and by this i mean (thinking that Africa is one country). When people read about such incidents they sum up all Africans to be crooks. I know people don't have jobs that why some turn to crime, but this isn't right. Also i have met many good Nigerians and considering the fact that 1 in every 5 Africans is a Nigerian. It just makes things worse for the good Nigerians that earn their money honestly. I have seen Nigerians being hustled at airports just coz they are Nigerians especially when wearing Nigerian dresses.
- dorkafork, on 10/12/2007, -1/+19"You know what? He's absolutely right. Westerners (white people) are INCREDIBLY gullible when it comes to these sorts of things. This is why social engineering scams are so damn effective. People need to wise up."
Compared to who? Keep in mind that kid's from a country that had "missing penis" riots.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/africa/1274235.stm - TheCount, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20You also have to realize that to someone in Nigeria, they still suffer from the sundrom in the old days where people literally thought the streets of America were paved with gold. They think everyone here is loaded.
- phatalbert, on 10/12/2007, -2/+20What a waste of talent. All those kids hunched over in the internet cafe scamming could be using their computer skills for something legitimate instead of scamming.
- hootpie, on 10/12/2007, -10/+26Who else is down for a tactical missile strike on that internet cafe?
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -15/+31what exactly are they contributing to the internet anyway?
i know i sound like an ass.. but wtf? the only ones with internet access there are the thieves.. - chicken101, on 10/12/2007, -3/+19I think John Edwards just lost his "Biggest Douche in the Universe Award". I nominate this kid.
- smartpatrol, on 10/12/2007, -9/+25"Do you really think it is fair to deprive an entire population of technology just because of a few people?"
No.
But, when a nation's culture, social norms, and easily-bribed government encourage rampant thievery with no fear of retribution, that's a different story. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18"You know what? He's absolutely right. Westerners (white people) are INCREDIBLY gullible when it comes to these sorts of things. This is why social engineering scams are so damn effective. People need to wise up."
Oh im sorry, only white people are westerners? Where does that leave the rest of the population who live in North America or Europe?
Ah durr.. - Sippi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+16So does a swift blow from the butt of a rifle.

Warning: there is some adult and offensive material on there, so don't look if you're easily offended or under 12. - Atomic1fire, on 10/12/2007, -5/+16one he is calling white people gullible 2 he is stealing money and 3 they are reporting this
- NSMike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11"White people are too gullible. They are rich, and whatever I gyp them out of is small change to them."
More like, the people you rip off are trusting, not gullible. No one has reason to assume every transaction is theft. It's a convenient, childish justification for unethical activities. - Rmplstltskn, on 10/12/2007, -3/+13I don't think that attitude is exclusive to Nigerians. I sort of want to kick every 14 year old's ass I meet. The little *****.
- Dabellah, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11CVV2 codes are like CD-keys on your software. Just click the generate button...
My curiosity is despite these channels and this behavoir, how the hell do they manage to get away with it? I mean they make a purchase, the purchases have to get shipped to an address. How is it the feds don't show up at these addresses to shut this crap down? I mean if I were to use one of those FOR EXAMPLE (and I REITERATE - EXAMPLE) I can guarantee a cop would show up at my doorstep (or so I would think) to investigate the behavior of this activity. - thrillho, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11"the banks refund this money therefor lose it themselves"
You are wrong. Why would the bank conduct business like this? The bank immediately yanks the money out of the seller's merchant account along with a chargeback fee. The businesses pay the penalty, not the bank. Eventually, the businesses account for this theft rate and pass the risk on to the consumer in the form of a price increase. - Pizpump, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11You know, if online merchants started requiring phone verification little bastards like Akin would not be getting rich off gullible white people. It would cut down on 419 activity significantly.
The really sad thing is we're paying for this. When the credit card companies have to eat a chargeback or fraudulent transaction, who do you think pays for it?
We do, with increased fees and interest rates. - badfrog, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11Maybe a bit extreme, but why don't the major ISPs just block (or even better, turn off) Nigeria's Internet for a month or so. That might prompt the government there to try a little enforcement.
- Dabellah, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9And he is obviously known and STILL around doing it? I never understand these kind fo situations... That's millions of dollars that primarily Americans have that this kid is stealing. The thing to think about is how the banks deal with this. If all the people who have these CC charges showing up cancel the transactions or claim them false, the banks refund this money therefor lose it themselves. This is a 100% clean dent in the friggin' economy!
Even though 100% of the people don't report these falsities the money is coming from somewhere... - TheCheeks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11did he sew those Adidas himself?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10"holy crap that is scary, just watching them scroll CC numbers like its nothing..."
Not only do they spit out CC numbers, they also have a bot that generates valid CVV2 codes for any CC#, rendering the purpose for CVV2 codes almost useless. They also have a bot that checks to see if a CC# is valid. I wish there was a way to take them down - but they are a giant. - IsraelTorres, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9oh why can't i be 'evil' ? life would be so much easier...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10@Dabellah
They avoid getting caught by shipping to countries where the police can either be paid off, or where the cops dont even care that it happens. - TheCheeks, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9holy crap that is scary, just watching them scroll CC numbers like its nothing...

not just western whites, but ethnic US Congressmen also:
http://digg.com/links/US_Congressman_Caught_Up_in_Nigerian_419_E-mail_Scam_ - mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -8/+16roadkill, the internet has grown in those locations to nearly all citizens, in nigeria the only ones who can afford it are either rich or using it to get rich (by stealing or spamming).
