Boston, MA 02110 - baalzebub, on 01/15/2008, -2/+11what about snail mail donations? post a snail mail address...
- bmnrocks, on 01/15/2008, -1/+5And by the end of the month, it should only be about 64€
- FreeDeb, on 01/15/2008, -1/+5Nice pic!
- makosharkattack, on 01/15/2008, -0/+3The existence of patents threaten the existence of free software. The elimination of patents do not threaten the existence of proprietary software or anyone who makes and sells software. They threaten the existence of those who make their business on making and selling software patent licenses -- the trolls out there. I see no reason to have a lot of sympathy for them.
- makosharkattack, on 01/15/2008, -0/+3None of which above things?
What other organization doe more to protect the freedom of users and developers of computer software? - BenTrem, on 01/15/2008, -3/+6FYI: Issue #20 of FSMagazine ... OpenOffice and Konqueror and much much more: http://www.freesoftwaremagazine.com/
- technoredneck, on 01/15/2008, -0/+2I chose the Free Software, Free Society book--I thought Stallman's essays were very logical and well thought out, and I have to admire him for that, even if I didn't agree with a good deal of what he said.
- smaffulli, on 01/15/2008, -1/+2For Europeans US$120 is €83: a bargain. There is no reason not to donate now
- inactive, on 01/15/2008, -1/+2You also get a free USB key for gnupgp encryption keys or RMS's book.
- makosharkattack, on 01/15/2008, -1/+2Joi Ito took the picture!
- acca, on 01/16/2008, -0/+1$100,000 by January 31? Hmmm ...
- magusat999, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1Can you elaborate on that? I don't see how somebody who wants to bust up the patent game - which is strangling innovation - as making software "less free". But maybe I don't fully understand your statement.
- johnsu01, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1It's free as in freedom, like free speech. See http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/selling.html .
- xobani, on 01/15/2008, -0/+1i see... and appreciate the concept... any more resources?
- bibekpaudel, on 01/16/2008, -0/+0I would like to become a member, in fact i once tried too. But I am a student in South Asia, and I don't have a credit card. There doesn't seem to be any other method of payment. I am a staunch supporter of free/libre/open source softwares and not being able to help makes me sad.
Best of luck to the guys involved though !
and Cheers !
Bibek - DestroyFascism, on 01/15/2008, -2/+2So a Cool USB key for 120 just like it used to be....kinda...
- inactive, on 01/15/2008, -3/+2I have more important things to spend that money on
- micro506, on 01/15/2008, -4/+2Now that's what I call a sticky situation!
- xobani, on 01/15/2008, -3/+0so instead of paying for software, we are paying the guys that are promoting free software, lol
- kkkkk, on 01/15/2008, -5/+1here comes the digg effect.
- RaDeus, on 01/15/2008, -4/+0his name remind me of startrek... benjamin sisko from DS9 and the mako troops in ENT..
im such a geek >_> - inactive, on 01/15/2008, -5/+1DS9 > *
- madroneDorf, on 01/15/2008, -5/+0how about if I want the freedom to buy patented software?
- Otto, on 01/15/2008, -6/+1The Free Software Foundation does none of the above things. They are fighting to make software less free and should be ignored, as they have made themselves irrelevant with the GPLv3.
GPLv2 FTW.
