- m00nmaster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Most, if not all, innovative, new ideas in any industry come from a small company, a single person, or an unexpected source (like the game team at Microsoft with the Live idea). Bigger companies then buy the idea (and sometimes the people) and market it. It's the way of the world, deal with it.
- greenflash, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11Next up on Digg: 10 Things Google Might Not Know About You...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Bull. Google didn't stop counting their index size; just stopped displaying it.
- Jonny5alive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1310 things about Google that you don't care about now you know them.
- trialofmiles, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12I'd also like to know what proof you have, especially about "11". For "12", I assume you're talking about this: http://digg.com/links/Google_agrees_to_pay_$90_million_on_click_fraud_lawsuit
- buddyglass, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9that's most likely because move on.org is helping to lobby for net neutrality. Not everything has to be divided by partisan politics.
- Saintlink, on 10/12/2007, -2/+8People also called Toyota a "me too" company when they burst on to the scene a few years ago. Now look at them. Emulation isn't always a bad thing if done better than those previously running things. Ford? GMC?
- Dracos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Next: Google has ignored meta tags since 2002. All you SEO whores out there can keyword stuff all you want... your page is indexed and ranked solely on the part that matters... the stuff inside the body tag.

How much was given to help the 'rightest' find WMD in IRAQ? - t0dd, on 10/12/2007, -6/+11Here is the 10:
1. Google query syntax underwent some subtle changes over the years.
2. Google itself was Beta.
3. PageRank more than 1-10 – maybe.
4. Google's co-founders didn't like each other in the beginning.
5. Google has 16 official blogs.
6. Google self-censors in several countries.
7. Google stopped counting their index size.
8. The Google API may offer over 1,000 requests.
9. Google comic book search.
10. Google Writely is a multi-user chat. - ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7500+ Diggs because Google was mentioned.....how very lame.
- dam1an, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7you got to feel sorry for google, I mean their homepage in 1998 was horrible lol
- jriley101, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Just like the plan for "Google Everything". Atleast according to this article.
http://www.oozm.com/search/index.php/List_of_Acquisitions_by_Google
13. Google has plan to run Everything! - siouxmoux, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I knew 7 of the 10 facts about google.
- MaxTheSheep, on 10/12/2007, -12/+15I dont mind if google takes over. Hell, I want a Google OS.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2yeah, me too. lame.
i didn't know 4 and 9.. - nonlnear, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2So was everyone else's.
- pype, on 10/12/2007, -9/+11Agreed. Did this just get diggs because it's about Google?
Lame - no digg - and lame blog too/ - Kitsune818, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3No, you didn't get it.. it was about 400 for Google, and about 300 for being a "10 List"
- haochi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2what about their technology
- brownspank, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"It's still speculation (and a pretty useless accusation) but probably true."
So, it's not proof. - haochi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The third one is nothing but lame...It is like, maybe.
the fifth one, did you just say the non-english google official blogs are not Google Blogs?
7, maybe you are right, but guess what, Google "****" and the number of result will be the page Google indexed(estimate)
10, you call it a chat?? - IQ70, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Google stopped count cause there was a pissing war between Google and Yahoo. And Yahoo was winning. So Google said ....nyah nyah nyah nyah....we won cause we stopped counting! :-p
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You're full of *****. Nice try.
- gothicx00, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7I know this is quite off topic, but it seems as if BloodJunkie's soul purpose on this site is to see how many negative diggs he can get through his comments. I'll be honest, I don't think I've seen a single comment by him/her/it that wasn't eventually buried.
- FullMetalMonkey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Did you know that Google has honestly LOST TRACK of how many sites are in their index!
- mrASSMAN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1google has always had more pages than yahoo.. then they decided it was stupid to compare search engines by the # of pages indexed, that the relativity of the search results is what really mattered.
- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -7/+811. Google lies to their investors.
12. Google steals money from advertisers.
Proof:
11 - Every big company lies to their investors sometimes. If you don't know this, you are naive. It's still speculation (and a pretty useless accusation) but probably true.
12 - That 90 million dollar lawsuit in trialofmiles's post - MrLunar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3"Sept 2006: Digg.com"
Hmmm...
(What a way to take it out of context.) - richardiscool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In Sovie... No, actually, pretty much anywhere, Google learns abut YOU!
- nickster, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The still have it: http://www.google.com/linux
- richardiscool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I think it's somewhere bwteen 20 and 30 billion now.
- richardiscool, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Or because the Yahoo v. Google willy waving contest finished?
- RexKwando, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3This was a good little history lesson about one of the biggest and fastest growing companies around. Not sure I understand all of the hostility from previous diggers, but I thought this was a good read!
- linnerd40, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like that Google Linux search. They need to bring that back : )... Or is that just the nerd in me talking?
- dmbrunjes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Google stopped showing their index size?
Google is a business. Since when do businesses advertise their weaknesses in comparison to other companies? - haochi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1try this "***"
- soccerpmn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I didn't know they stopped showing the index size. I remember a while back when it jumped from about 4 bil to 8 bil now, but yea that does seem low now...
- gekkokid, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1lame story - nothing was interesting enough to remember, digg = time stealer
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Why'd they stop counting their index size? Because Yahoo revealed that theirs was over twice as large?
- IQ70, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1It will come with white background and will be text only, allow voice chat, browser will be Firefox which downloads cookies from sites which are top on Google using prefetch including the NSA. The Desktop software will upload all documents to Google servers. One year later they will introduce pictures/avatars.
Everyone will like it; being the minimalistic approach users will love that it is a 10mb download but it will use 500mb memory when running. It will send information about everything you do on the computer but there will be a clear EULA stating how to opt out. Most users will not understand the difference and will still love it. It will have a very clean interface, just like google video. It will have a sleek and smooth user experience like picasa but it will not allow you to do anything different than what google thinks is the right and simplistic way.
Will not come with iLife or even the famed calculator/clock since google search bar will do everything anyways. Simplistic, light, convinient. Everyone will love it.
And oh! the default search bar in Firefox will be MSN. You will have to change it, if you want to use Google. - spect3r, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2Google isn't cloning anyone..they are purchasing companies that have viable and dynamic ideas with the intent on making them that much better. Large corporations aren't always the evil empires we've come to expect. Google seems to be innovative, smart and almost completely free of red tape and bureaucratic entanglement (most) fast growing companies and ventures find themselves wound up in.
And now more pertinent to the article itself, I didn't realise they stopped counting their index size. I'm getting 20,950,000,000 results when searching for "* *". - SmashA444, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0So I tried the advanced google search for large images and the word "comic" (like is suggested in the article) and on the third page found an eye catching image (safe search is turned off). Upon closer inspection I find that I'm looking at some kind of digitally rendered spanish porn comic book. Am I the only one to find this hilarious? I don't know Spanish, so I can only imagine what they are saying.
- spikes, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1Well it would be nice to keep this comment in the search market, sure all companies clone ideas, but it seems like all of Google's expansion ideas are something thats already been done by Yahoo or Microsoft.
- Vixenbergen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Yahoo's is about 5 billion less. Nice try
- yodaj007, on 10/12/2007, -7/+4The "10 things you might not know about.." lists belong to People Magazine and the like. To me, trivia and factoids about Google aren't all that interesting. It's a company that makes some neat products. Aside from that, what products they make, their stock symbol, and their web address, I don't really need to know anything else about them.
This is lame. No digg. - MaxTheSheep, on 10/12/2007, -14/+11And Windows was stolen from Mac. Christians/Catholics/etc. stole their "image" of God from the Greeks (Zeus). Blah blah blah. It's the way of the world.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+211. Google gave $1M to the leftist fanatic George Soro's organization MoveOn.org.
http://www.americanprowler.com/dsp_article.asp?art_id=9821 - m00nmaster, on 10/12/2007, -14/+8I dugg it because it's Google. Sue me.
