- SiliconRain, on 10/25/2007, -1/+49From here on, I am officially boycotting sites that pull this pagerank inflating *****:

"click here to see item n!" - soulknowledge, on 10/11/2007, -1/+46Codecs not running?... screw that... use VLC Player
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+29Alliterations are amazing!
- tunapez, on 10/25/2007, -0/+27I agree, quite annoying.
Rather than boycott, just click the "print" page button...

- BOFH2, on 10/25/2007, -4/+24Could people stop using "teh" intentionally? It is almost as bad as "pwned"
- UNL1M1T3D, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12What utility do I use to make web pages stop spreading info across four different pages when all the info could have fit on one?
- MtheoryX, on 10/10/2007, -2/+11Your ideas intrigue me, and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter.
- SigmundFreud, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Actual workable link that has the complete list:

From now on: people who link to PC World should _always_ link to the print version. - praveens, on 10/25/2007, -0/+7Single Page View - http://www.pcworld.com/printable/article/id,137083 ...
- MicrosoftBob, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7No way, man. Everyone knows that only the Geek Squad can fix your troubled machine.
And their prices a very reasonable. - sjbdallas, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6He might have a BBS server you can telnet to and read all his rantings.
- vwvan, on 10/13/2007, -1/+7I count 4, unless I spend the day looking at ads and going clickity click, clickity click.
- JAPHacake, on 06/11/2009, -1/+7I have used the Dial-a-fix utility a few times now, I really am impressed with it. Would recommend.
- katyism, on 10/25/2007, -1/+6I found recently you can set the interval for reboot reminders or disable it entirely.
Start / Run / gpedit.msc / Local Computer Policy / Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Windows Update / Re-prompt for restart with scheduled installations (disable)
This article was nothing but product-hawking. - UNL1M1T3D, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Good call.
- vornan19, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5I agere wiht uyo tehre!
- l1wulf, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4I used to work for a cable company (way back when there were still many small independents) and one of my favorite CSR troubleshooting tools was:
Me - "Can you check and make sure your TV is on channel 3?"
Customer - "Why wouldn't it be on channel 3? I haven't changed it and it was working yesterday."
Me - "Well, it seems like maybe your TV is not on the right channel for your cable box... Hmm. Oh, you know, sometimes these boxes change from channel 3 to 4 for some reason, can you try putting your TV on channel 4 for me?"
Customer - "It works now."
Me - "So channel 4 worked for you, huh?"
Customer - "No, it was already on channel 4, I put it back on 3."
Me - "Ah! Well, as long as it's working now, that's all that matters, right?" - l1wulf, on 10/25/2007, -0/+4There isn't 10 "problem -- here's the fix" issues, but 10 links to crap inside the article. Kinda misleading.
- supermanred, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5Same here, except OS X instead of Ubuntu. Isn't Unix a nice thing? I suggest if Apple releases OS X for non-Apple hardware, you try it out. It is a nice interface, very stable and tons of software... Oh and if you are tech saavy, you can still run your linux apps inside os x without running the seperate linux os in any kind of virtual software.
I also run vista in parallels so I can boot it up once in a while and play games, or laugh at it when it blue screens. - bitt3n, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3ha I get it you are quoting that movie everybody saw! how droll
- pcp777, on 10/10/2007, -2/+54 not 10. Hmmmmmmmm.
- supermanred, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Awesome. I never noticed that, you are awesome!
- DjLizard, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3You can also just issue 'net stop wuauserv' at a command prompt for temporary cessation of the reboot prompt.
- jambarama, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3The "print" button utility. http://www.pcworld.com/printable/article/id,137083 ...

- autosovereign, on 12/06/2008, -1/+1Why do they assume I am using Windows? Why is this in the tech industry news? Why was I only able to find 4 "terrific" tricks and tools?

"Did you check the network cable to be sure it was plugged in all the way?"
"Yup"
"Are you sure?"
"*sigh* Lemme check again.... oh, hey. It works now" - shmatt, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2what a crock. You're saying only morons have more than minor issues? *****.
- supermanred, on 10/25/2007, -8/+7I went through all those, 8 months ago I did step 11: Start using a Unix based operating system like Linux or OS X. Worked great for me. Current uptime: 1 week, 2 days and a bit. Last time I had an OS crash or failure: 8 months ago, Windows Vista.
