- riveraj, on 03/11/2008, -1/+9haha... i enjoyed this... don't agree with everything ... but some... although I appreciate a hot receptionist from time to time, more often then not, they are unintelligent and that frustrates me. If you can't train her, don't hire her!

- sammybond455, on 03/11/2008, -2/+26Bring in people that you want to hang out with day and night, because that is when you will be working.

- chikoos, on 03/11/2008, -0/+5So true. People in the workplace matter a lot.

- Kalaukia, on 03/12/2008, -1/+0Sammy Bond are you Arerangi? Henry's cousin?
- SexyJenJen, on 03/11/2008, -6/+4This post is a pile of ***** compared to the advice from TechCrunch, Calacanis, and Cuban. And it's just a mash up of their original ideas anyways.
Lame.- deadlift, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2You're hot

After all, this crap actually hit the frontpage.

- ted_hosmann, on 03/11/2008, -5/+2BLOG SPAM - here is Jason's Link: http://www.calacanis.com/2008/03/07/how-to-save-mo ...
- neko6, on 03/11/2008, -1/+2Not the same list... Not even the same length.
- otbeverly, on 03/11/2008, -2/+0I thought No. 6 said "Watch out for Great Cannibas" at first. ...that would have been the only thing that made that list somewhat original, or at the very least interesting.
... How about this for a rule?:
11. "Don't justify all the text on your Web site." I know you think it makes you look more professional, but it doesn't. Justified text can look good in print when kearned correctly, but it only makes reading on the web - which is already somewhat of a strain on your eyes - that much more difficult. Seeing spaces between words in a sentence larger than the spaces between actual sentences can be confusing. Actually, you could substitute this rule for anywhere from 1-10. ... and, hey, watching out for great Cannabis might not be a bad idea either, given the right conditions and personalities. - screwy3333, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2Rule 11. Don't task orient multiple OS files through Ubuntu interface
- bingobongony, on 03/11/2008, -2/+2The only adviceMark Cuban can give is "Happen to start your crappy business at a time when internet companies are paying about a 1,000,000% premium on what your site is worth." Broadcast.com wouldn't have netted Cuban $50 if he started it 5 years later.
- sloppychris, on 03/11/2008, -0/+5The Padres haven't played in Qualcomm stadium since 2003.
- ryan00davis, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1and i think qualcomm paid for the stadium more as a gift to san diego, yes they got marketing out of it, but they started in san diego and turned into one of the biggest wireless companies in the world.
oh, and they hardly counted as a startup when they paid for the expansion to jack murphey stadium
- ryan00davis, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1and i think qualcomm paid for the stadium more as a gift to san diego, yes they got marketing out of it, but they started in san diego and turned into one of the biggest wireless companies in the world.
- b5c9, on 03/11/2008, -1/+2Hot babe receptionist is a must for all companies. Successful of not.
- ceowise, on 03/11/2008, -0/+0Ditto...it can make a low paying job much more palatable
- rrbest, on 03/11/2008, -1/+3I guess that explains why my business failed... I had this receptionist for years http://www.skeezixthecat.com/scratchingpost/upload ...
- jamesdew, on 03/11/2008, -0/+0maaaan shes ruff
- Miche1987, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1Ahhh, ruff....just the way your mother likes it, Trebek.
- jamesdew, on 03/11/2008, -0/+0maaaan shes ruff
- Dinh0, on 03/11/2008, -0/+0This article has some good talk. Meetings must be short unless there's something actually being accomplished.
And the hot babe.....Everyone knows you must hire a future Playboy Model with the bare minimum of secretarial skills just so you want to come to work and get your messages. :D - shadyrudy, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1Thanks a lot for the Adult Friend Finder advert on the side. I love getting that proxy warning from work!
- Jobless06, on 03/11/2008, -0/+1Rule 11.
Hire cheaper R&D guys somewhere in Eastern Europe.
http://money.cnn.com/2006/08/09/technology/webarou ... - SpectralSounds, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2I need to show this list to my superior. He would probably take offense.. The startup I work for is doomed anyway (because of egos and miscommunication/misunderstandings). I can feel it.
- killdashnine, on 03/11/2008, -0/+2I recently got out of a failing start-up and can tell you that this kind of stuff should be gospel. Unfortunately, executive-types (in my experience) are generally unwilling to listen because they "know better". They're right, you're wrong, end of story so the whole ego thing is dead-on correct.
Good read. Let's hope more entrepreneurs actually pay attention. - VentureDude, on 03/12/2008, -0/+0Rule #10 - I support it 100%. Never under estimate the value of promoting a memorable hot image for your start up.
- andyfox1979, on 03/13/2008, -0/+1Thanks for the comments everyone... I wrote this, and no i'm not 14, twice that actually. I have worked in the internet for many years and have worked at great and horrible startups. I think as ^^ killdashine notes, you sort of have to work at a bad startup for this to make good sense.
I wrote this list assuming that every startup has a good product and a team with chops. These are just things to keep it running smoothly and avoid implosion. - gaffer13, on 05/29/2008, -0/+1actually quite different from the recycled lists you usually see on this topic...
