"No matter how talented, dedicated, and well trained your business team, a numerically superior company of faceless and untalented hacks will inevitably destroy you." - Turbosc, on 10/12/2007, -1/+44Those are all great reasons behind the movie, but don't forget, they all died at the end.
- Ethervoid, on 10/12/2007, -4/+42Plain dumb. As if those "lessons" weren't common sense.. besides, the 300 hype its getting very retarded and ruinning an excellent movie. What's next? "Leonidas diet book?"

Oh, sorry... - benjpw, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Does anyone notice that there are a lot of "amazing make money etc." revelation blogs posted on Digg these days? Kinda makes you wonder... are people making money off Digg? :P

***** common sense wrapped in a movie. Buried as lame. Now if you'll excuse me, I have reservations in hell... - avester, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I was gonna say the same thing, besides why would I want to use the lessons of 300 to run my business, THEY ALL DIED.
- Comatose51, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6How cliche and stupid...
I love this one: "Never retreat, never surrender."
Actually, that's one of the dumbest things to do in business and in war. Ask the German army how well that worked for them during the winter of their first thrust during WWII. Fight when it's favorable to you and adjust when conditions change. The turning point in the Chinese civil war was when the communists went on a many thousand miles long retreat in order to save themselves. This also worked for the Vietnamese communists as well. They would harass the Amercians and run away as soon as we stood our grounds.
In a twist of irony, during the Peloponnesian war, one of the first times the Spartan army was defeated was by Athenian light infantry using ranged attacks and retreating until the Spartans were completely worn out.
The author is a class A moron. - chris9902, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"Don't give specific advice."
the irony - eatmorgnome, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"are people making money off Digg?"
If you want to make money, the easiest thing to do is to exploit a large concentration of stupid people ;) - KyotoWolf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5"Frank Miller must be an online entrepreneur in his spare time because 300 is the perfect metaphor for online business"
Someone should tell this guy that Frank Millers comic and this film were based on the Battle of Thermopylae. - Tarnum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4300 and e-business? This is ridiculous even for April 1st.
There is one advice I can accept from 300: Treat well the people beneath you. Often they know things you dont. The ilotes (the Spartan slaves) knew about the back way, but they never told their masters. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Which is what will probably happen to your website if you take advice on getting your name out there from a website no one's ever heard of...

- Stevethegreat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@Comatose51: Don't bother I've read the original (I'm Greek). Herodotus's histories are the first writings coming close to be attributed as historical, there are thousands of references of mysticism there, but the events of Persian wars are very close to the historical truth. Herodotus himself was a 4 years old boy when the battle of Thermopylae took place, he certainly met people knowing of the event first hand, hell he even had relatives who fought in the other prominent Persian battles (in Marathon, Salamis and Plataea . I can safely say that that part of "Ιστορίαι" was near to accurate .....

- soulsolution, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Old Wine In a New Bottle.
The things he has mentioned have been said and done a thousand times. He was just smart enuf (or was he?) to wrap it around the concept of 300. (Like someone said, please spare 300. It's an excellent movie, don't ruin it's pristinity). - Lewie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I'm not much of a grammar nazi, but that mistake really pisses me off.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Uhh, many people have heard of it before the movie. It's one of the most famous Greek battles in one of the most famous ancient wars. This and the Battle of Salamis were the deciding factor in the Greek war against the invading Persian army.
- Pottersquash, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2They forgot one:
In the End, the mighty army will slaughter you and your pity 300 and lay waste until forces untie. OR Microsoft will drive you out of business until someone files an antitrust claim - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's been a couple thousand years. I think the statute of limitations is up on that one being a spoiler.
- Comatose51, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Really now, have you ever read Herodotus's Histories? You expect high level of historical accuracy from him? He wrote down basically what other people told him. The Histories have bits and pieces of magic and the supernatural sprinkled on them. Compare that to even Thucylides[sp?] and it reads like historical fiction.
- alabamawanderer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Amazing. Almost all people think so
- ollj, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The last one saves it: spoiler: "Even if you’re a hideous, misshapen troll, the right networking can get you riches and women."
And most posts that you can read above (about digg) prove it right ;) - CDRutledge, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I don't think they are going to historical fact, but more along the lines of how the Spartans viewed themselves and that battle. I also keep an optimistic view point on this movie, maybe its hyperbole will get more people interested in the classical world.
- gettarat, on 06/11/2008, -0/+1Really bad.

http://icases.biz - Comatose51, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Uh antitrust claims have never bothered Microsoft. Businesses still don't know how to defeat Microsoft. Even mighty Google hasn't defeated them yet.
- artanis, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1better get the SERIOUS toothpaste!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In before "tonight we dine at Sbrarro."
- KyotoWolf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1And yet The History's are still the best source of information on Thermopylae
- opticrime, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Lesson 11: Trim your payroll. Whether for tending to your crops or answering the phone at your call centre, nothing beats indentured servitude. Unfortunately, Monster.com does not have a category for Helots. Nomenclature note: 'co-op student' gets more applications than 'chattel slave'.
Lesson 12: Performance-contingent rewards. Make the sale, get a raise. Don't make the sale, left to die of exposure in the wilderness. Sure beats the Employee Of The Month plaque. - an0nym0us, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3gb2 /b/ u /b/astards!
