/me hands out expensive USB key - benb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I love how there are different memory sizes. You think that for $3,500 it you just be the larger 1GB capacity. Do you have to spend an extra $50 to go from 256MB to 512MB? Ha!
Of course, if you have over $3k to waste on this, I doubt you care how many word docs you can fit on it. - ssaha, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2"you can't have everything....where would you put it."
Let me enlighten you... - Urusai, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd rather see rhodium or something for them ducats. And frickin' lasers.
- shinaku, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1All that gold, and the actual USB connector isn't even gold plated!
- rrittenhouse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1My fiancee' fell in love with it so :P
- krewemaynard, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1lol valuable data
- Neph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What blows my mind is not so much that the thing is only 1024M, but that offering 128M, 256M and 512M version. Don't... understand... Is someone seriously going to spring over $3k for this thing but then decide, hmmm, should I throw another $50 in for the 1G version?
- Splitt3rxx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1bill gates
- ellingswin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1a gigabyte of gold
- a1programmer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's the most ridiculous thing I've seen in a while.
- merreborn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1If you're gonna buy me a $3,500 flash storage device, make it one of these:
http://www.bitmicro.com/products_edisk_35_fc.php
Available in 2 - 147 gig capacities. That's what I'm talking about. - misterspaceman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's BLING BLING on your KEY RING!
- siralphred, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1$3500 cos it will wipe ma ass after i take a dump
- raccettura, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1White Lake USB Key.... because she'll pretty much have to.
- HuRyde, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It would be sweet if they used the diamonds as the indicator lights. Diff color LED lights under them.
- rodball, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Coming to G4-TV: "Pimp my (USB) Drive"
- nucleocide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The prices for upgrades...
128MB = $3,500
256MB = $3,510
512MB = $3,520
Considering the price of the package in comparison to the price of data storage, I can't imagine why the company wouldn't release models strictly at 1GB. - Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0haha, that's the last thing I need to watch
- I8PP, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I was hoping for some magical wireless USB key that you can access just by standing it next to a computer. USB keys baffle me, I think CF or SD should be used instead.
- GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0and by breakable I mean mar-able. is that even a word?
- Hooger158, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I want a platinum plated floppy disk
- Jozer99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yes, the guiness book of world records and digg have proved time and time again that when you take something cheap and cover it with gold, platinum, and diamonds, it becomes really expensive.
- Kazrog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0One time I accidentally ran my plastic USB key through the washer and dryer in the pocket of my pants. When I found it, it had developed a slight rattle when shaken, but still had my data on it!
I would feel pretty dumb if I'd paid $3500 for my USB key. But mine was free, and 512 megs! - GliTCH82, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0for that much money, it better be fireproof, bulletproof, waterproof, offer DoD worthy encryption technology of its contents, have a GPS so you can find the ***** that steals it and maybe even do your taxes
but it doesn't, its just another expensive and easily breakable toy. - xutopia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0which geek has everything?
- radixus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Without diamonds $2400 for a GIG USB stick . . . . without the gold plating about $15.
What a waste. - xslutx, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I think i need to tell my girlfriend that if I'm getting her an engagement ring, she should get me this.
- Kashey, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Titanium Platinum or even polished stainless steel. Gold "is soo September 10!"(c) SouthPark
PS. For kids whoz going on about their story not got to first page instead of this. Deal with it. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0you can't have everything....where would you put it.
– steven wright - Daniel591992, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Pointless, but it looks really nice :D
- Pizpump, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I loathe rich people toys.
- JayWright, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Whoa, that thing is SOOO WIDE it could not even fit in most frontside USB slots. Screw that *****
- Fowz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0it's just something else covered in diamonds :0(
- silverbritt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0what a total waste...give the money to a scholarship or something before you buy that crap...
- dipswitch, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeah, it certainly doesn't look like its $3500! The latest AMD64 with nVidia QuadroFX and 4GB of memory, etc. etc. does! But besides that, I would pay like $59 for it, no more. Maybe $79 if the diamonds have LED's beneath them and can indicate the amount of used storage.
- R4wBon3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What the fsck??
I guess the rule 'a sucker is born every minute' applies to rich fscks too.
The piece of ***** is too wide, blocking other ports; probably won't even work on most portable PCs. ALSO If you wanted to approach the rich geek scene, you'd be much smarter to make the thing out of a rare element or at least Titanium. While you are at it make it waterproof to 1000ft AND please include a blue laser on one end for me. I'll think about paying $3,500 for the largest USB SD RAM on the market plus those featres once you've managed to get there. - volatileacid, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0If you've got money coming out of your ears, and you want the most expensive of everything, here's another item to the collection I guess.
- maram500, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0What is the pont of a USB drive that costs $3500? Aside from its beauty, is the thing really useful? I mean, if I make a $3,500 purchase I would tend to want it to work. Also, I would like to state that I have similar feelings to chompy--why is it only gold PLATED? Why can't we get a $3,500 USB drive that is made of gold? Why can't the connector be solid gold? It is a great conductor, isn't it?
- Chompy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0$3500 and it's gold *plated*?
- zweben, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I would rather see a 32GB $3,500 USB key.
At least that'd have a purpose. - SquisherX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0To put this into perspective, the 128mb version would cost 40 bucks for every 1.44mb. Now show me a diamond encrusted 5 1/4" floppies and ill be interested.... :p
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0um mm that looks like it will fit in every computer i wonder if the have a diamond encrusted usb cable and lanyard to go with that wide load
- jpesicka2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1it's a photoshopped pic of a ps3
- ChrisGranger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I hope anyone who actually buys one of these is promptly mugged and has it stolen. What an utter waste of money. People who squander their wealth on items like this make me ill. Does this sort of thing actually impress anyone?
- imightbewrong, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0wow a gold and diamons encrusted 128mb stick????? 128mb is getting kinda lame especially for over a thousand bucks. it actually looks kinda cool though, if it was just steel and cost about 25$ i might get one
- davidjunit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0When do you build a $3500 gold & diamond USB drive? When you want to sell it to the idiot with the diamonds mounted to a rack snugly fit over his teeth.
DATS TITE Y0 - YakkSoho, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Do rich people even know how to use a USB stick? I can tell you from how many of my customers at FedEx Kinkos can't find the damn USB port on the CPU that chances are slimmer than Slim Pickens.
What will Paris Hilton think of next? - babelfishi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Whoever buys it probably cares more about the key than the data in the key.
