- TVisdoG, on 10/12/2007, -5/+96This won't do much. Those who trust the government don't need additional proof. Those who don't trust the government won't be convinced by the release of more documentation. It may be useful for compiling statistics about UFO sightings, but don't expect this to settle any debates.
- orielbean, on 10/12/2007, -7/+57I love that the guy who mentions radar evidence is named sept11insidejob....
- subliminalurge, on 10/12/2007, -1/+27No, what would be great is if all aliens looked like Tyra Banks, and there were millions of them invading our planet for the purpose of having as much sex as possible because all of the men on their planet had died out.
Oh yeah, and their idea of good foreplay is cleaning my house and mowing my lawn for me.
THAT would be great. - ophello, on 10/12/2007, -5/+31@lacronicus
When objects decelerate from 2000 mph to zero in the blink of an eye, or take right-angle turns (these incidences are reported), radar data is conclusive proof. This kind of flight behavior falls well outside the bell curve of "normal". - G4Jedi, on 10/12/2007, -9/+33You forgot...
9) Cheyenne mountain is home to the Stargate program! - edzieba, on 10/12/2007, -5/+25Seeing as it hasn't been explicitly mentioned yet;
UFO != Flying saucer
UFO stands for UNIDENTIFIED Flying Object. That means that nobody can conclusively prove what it is with available evidence. If you've identified it as an alien spacecraft, it is no longer a UFO. - littlenemo, on 10/12/2007, -4/+21I am suprised that this database is not listed more often in online discussion:

In particular, these cases have been identified as the "Best/ most famous":

Also, this case from a week or so ago is very good:

- orielbean, on 10/12/2007, -5/+18Why not add it to the existing body of knowledge. Incremental steps in learning to either debunk or support the existence one way or the other. That is how science works. It doesn't have to make up its mind and then find evidence that only supports one side - this is a collection of data. Nothing wrong with that.

NWA made some awesome tunes! I for one welcome our NWA effing the police overlords... ;) - NikoKun, on 10/12/2007, -6/+19Some conspiracies are real... some aren't... The one's that Are real are damn scary... the one's that aren't, just make the real ones look fake too...
The whole UFO thing... I just dono, lol... There is too much stuff out there to be totally ignored, but it's also hard to believe. This info should be interesting... but I'm looking for more hard proof, or my own sighting before I believe the UFO talk entirely. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+18Is this related to Tony Blair resigning? :P
- datastorageguy, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12I will bet anyone 20 bucks that the information released will cause all x-file nerds to be very, very, very, disappointed....
- warriorscot, on 10/12/2007, -4/+12UFO sightings in the UK arent covered up in fact a place not far from my home has more sightings than almost anywhere else in the world, the fact that the US government goes to the extreme lengths to cover them up is why they get so much attention not because there is anything to them just that because they are denied they get people interested.
Allot of things can be UFOs other than Alien spacecraft there are several atmospheric phenomenon that are only being understood now that explain a large number of unidentified objects, then you have things as simple as normal aircraft caught in a certain light, experimental aircraft things like that. A UFO sighting is just something that a person or a pilot cannot identify that doesn't mean they cant be identified or that there is some interstellar mystery to them. Personally it would be pretty strange if nobody ever saw anything they couldn't identify. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Aliens are just like us. Bombing each other, watching tv and eating chips. Much to busy to visit another galaxy.
- Neiby, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7Also, www.disclosureproject.org is a good one. You get to see some of the insiders who've "come out". There are far too many credible witnesses to discount.
- webcure, on 10/12/2007, -4/+10It is time that governments start being more transparent on this issue. US of A, do you hear me???
- profpan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Arguing about the reality of UFOs is silly -- by definition, anything seen in the skies that isn't clearly recognizable is a UFO.
It's also silly to deny the overwhelming physical evidence (radar, photos, film/video) and the massive number of reports from credible individuals detailing unusual objects observed in the sky. Any appropriately skeptical person who takes the time to view the many decades' worth of evidence will have to conclude that UFOs are not all mis-identifications of Venus, swamp gas, hoaxes, or delusions. *Something's* going on.
But is it all about aliens flying around in their spaceships? I think it's equally silly to jump to that conclusion, and the either/or debate (it's either aliens, or there's nothing to it) is problematic, because it obscures all sorts of of other possibilities.
Read Richard Dolan's exhaustively documented "UFOs and the National Security State" to understand how UFOs have captured the attention of the U.S. government. Then google Jacques Vallee, John Keel, George Hansen and other Forteans for the deeper, more nuanced perspectives. The way I've learned to separate the good stuff from the garbage is to distrust anyone who thinks he/she has the answers. The brightest minds in the field are still mystified, and the phenomenon seems to play with those who seek to understand it. Which makes Ufology fascinating and frustrating. - Hoov, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I want Jessica Alba's, damnit.
- abcdefghij, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7ZOLTAN!!
- ladman, on 10/12/2007, -7/+14I think that many people are going to be disappointed, a UFO isnt necessarily an ET, a UFO could be a snot rocket flying across the country at sub light speeds. Im just sayin...
- KineticShampoo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5So by my count, thats:
1.- France
2.- Venezuela
3.- UK
Nice to see how more and more countries are opening up their UFO knowledge. Let's hope more join that list. - webcure, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8Thanks for all of the resources in the comments. Good job!
- threemagic, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6@ibookfast: believing we are the only life in the universe and believing they randomly fly here to just peek on us are two entirely different issues.
- neplusultra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I feel ya. I've seen a lot of UFO vids and never really been convinced.
This, for example: typical video that looks more like special FX or a special secret project than actual otherwordly technology: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-398836828825804273
But the best footage I have seen, bar none, that really made the hair stand up on the back of my neck, is in this video: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5980990221766439646&q=UFO
It's this guy, jose Escamilla, and I think he's mostly full of ***** because he goes on and on about "rods" like "invisible animals living in the atmosphere" which wrecks his cred. but goes to show that even otherwise intelligent, inquisitive people find it easy to get sucked into random stupid conspiracy theories.
But, near the end of the film, there is a montage of footage of different UFO sightings and there's this one taken in eastern europe...and it's really, really creepy.
My advice, just let the video load up, and then skip to the last 30 minutes or so to see the good stuff. As usual, the really convincing, good information is lumped in with a whole trash heap of disinformation.
Rule of thumb: If somebody is saying ***** like, "aliens are secretly controlling our government" or saying stuff that is fear-based and basically trying to scare you, it's most probably propaganda or disinformation. There have never been documented accounts of UFOs or UOs harming or making threatening gestures to ANYONE on earth. In fact, to the contrary, there is footage of UFOs swooping in to ICBM tests and disabling their warheads. - Slovenian6474, on 10/12/2007, -5/+9I'm not really sure I believe all the UFO stuff, but it is pretty interesting. The U.K. never really seemed to cover up a lot of the UFO sightings there. The Rendlesham Forest incident was never really investigated even though it was pretty close to the shock value of the Area 51 story. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rendlesham_Forest_Incident
- Neiby, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Bluebook is a joke. They withheld all the interesting stuff.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5It would be statistically impossible for there to be no intelligent life amongst the billions of galaxies and countless stars who need to probe us anally.
- leftnut, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It's silly to think that an alien ship would undergo interstellar travel, then enter our atmosphere and just hover in the sky without coming down to go to a baseball game. If they wanted to observe us, why not do it from orbit, where nobody would see them? And if they don't mind being seen, then why not come to my house for dinner? My wife makes great Italian food.
Something doesn't' add up. Either they don't exist or they have made contact and somebody's covering it up. So if there is a big cover up, what's the point? What does the govt have to hide, and why would knowing that aliens exist be a bad thing? I'm not trying to be a doubting ass, I really would like to hear discussion on this. - BobOki, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It will not matter if our govt released all our UFO documents. They would look like a ADHD kid on crack had a go with a magic marker on each one.
- 2shae, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4All the really good parts have probably been taken out already anyway
- EvolvedAnt, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6"Why is it that astronomers (who are always looking at the sky) hardly ever report UFOs? Maybe it's because they know how to identify the same phenomena that freaks out lay people."
If UFO's with alien life was real, I think it is safe to assume they'd be smart enough to avoid flying directly insight of a gigantic telescope sitting atop a mountain. Besides, astronomers look at pin point areas of the sky, it is through the human observable eye that you have a wide enough view to be more likly to spot something odd in the sky. - latpack, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4meh, if extraterriestial contact had been made by one nation, you can bet your ass they'd be hogging the info themselves. Think about Orson Welle's "War of the World" broadcast, people aren't ready to accept the existence of an intelligent civilization. Had a crashed spaceship been recovered, the military has no obligation to share advanced technology with any other country considering the huge advantage alien tech would give them.
- OnePunchMickey, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4All the camera phones. All the digital camcorders. Yet still they choose to dick around in the fuzzy distance. Those crazy aliens.
- darkstar949, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Depends, some of the military buffs are looking forward to it as well as a lot of the UFOs that are reported are experimental military aircraft and the files may either prove or disprove the existence of a given airframe.
- locusto03, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4You mean I won't get to see Xenu? :(
- neplusultra, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Maybe because the government stands to gain by hiding contact or evidence of contact?
Like, advanced technology? - diggthisman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3people .. think about this. you only need ONE sighting to be true.
- wbtn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Aliens once came into my bedroom to perform disgusting sexual experiments on me, they saw my porn stash, called me sick and ***** off in a beam of light.
- Lexor, on 10/12/2007, -8/+10"Saucer loons" ?
With this slam in mind, allow me to re-word your post:
"There could be some interesting items to read here, even for the ignorant."
If you don't accept the phenomenon by now, what's another handful of old files gonna do for you ? By using a term like "saucer loons" you've helped relegate the topic to the giggle box where it seems it will remain until an alien spacecraft lands on your shoelace. - greenerthan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I find it generally suspicious that both the uk and france are releasing this info which they held sooo tightly for so long...either they have no private use for these files anymore (and have something much more frightening they are holding)....or they are preparing the public for something they are going to say later
- maeon3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Unidentified objects are everywhere. Flying objects are everywhere. Unidentified Flying Objects are everywhere. If you have difficulty identifying objects then you will see tons of UO's and UFO's.

- Piggycow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I want to see a GOOD video of same aliens and I'll consider it, until then I say its probably just some secret projects they let slip for some reason

famous Cash-Landrum case in Texas. Rendalsham between 12/26-28/80 and Cash-Landrum
12/29/80. Both right as the Reagan administration was preparing to leave power.
Very interesting. -
