When To Watch The Lunar Eclipse From Any Time Zone In U.S.
thedailygreen.com — In the wee overnight hours on the West coast, and in the early morning hours on the East coast, the earth ’s shadow will pass across the moon. Below are charts that will help people in any U.S. time zone know when to step outside (or set the alarm) and take in the spectacle.

- mseneschal, on 10/10/2007, -25/+3A lunar eclipse happens whenever Hillary moves in front of the sun
- jczubach, on 10/10/2007, -10/+1Ha Ha!!! did you check the comments? even better than the article...
- Tsen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5...You do know there's a difference between a lunar and a solar eclipse, right? Oh well, you're a douche anyway.
- cosmikdebris, on 10/10/2007, -1/+13Times and Phases of the Total Lunar Eclipse of August 28, 2007. Live Web Coverage of the Eclipse.
http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/LEmono/TLE2007Aug28/TLE2007Aug28.html- humperdeath, on 10/10/2007, -17/+2This is a most unique opportunity as well, because Mars is to appear in the sky, the size of the Full Moon and come very close to Earth on August 27th, 2007. Mars will then totally block out the moon from view! They say mars will never look this large for another 120 years!
- scoot2006, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7r tard
- TriZz, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16...you know it's getting bad when geeks watch a live lunar eclipse from a web cam, rather than just step outside and go look.
- docbob84, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5Unless it's, you know... cloudy, or the sun is rising, or people outside the western hemisphere cared to take a peek.

- ryankeefe, on 10/10/2007, -17/+3duplicate of this story: http://digg.com/space/Total_Eclipse_of_the_Moon_This_Tuesday_Morning
original story has better information.- opethlike, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yes a link to your blog that has nothing to do with "when to see the eclipse" in your time zone. Thanks.
- orangerust, on 10/10/2007, -11/+6im so not getting up at 537 for that
- Protoss, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Haha I said the same thing. If it were midnight or so, sure, but 5:30? ***** that!
- Tsen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I find your lack of geekdom disturbing. Hell, I don't even go to sleep until 6:00 AM most days. Just grab a few espressos and a case of Mountain Dew, drive out of town a ways (bonus points for bringing a hot girl along to watch the stars), roll out a blanket and BAM! You're golden. But hey, sleep through it if you want. Your life.
- orangerust, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0Hey pal if you need a lunar eclipse to get you laid, you got your own problems
- meepus, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1You do realize that there aren't any stars in the sky leading up to a lunar eclipse, right?
- fuzzmeister, on 10/10/2007, -11/+4If I lived on the west coast, I would definitely stay up until 3:30AM to watch it, but no way in hell am I getting up at 6:30AM to watch it.
- shortarabguy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Then just stay up.
- vsujohn2, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1Too bad the rain clouds are going to block it out for me :-/
- in2deep, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1It will be hard to do in Seattle!
- Piedramente, on 10/10/2007, -6/+1Not as spectacular as a solar eclipse, but still worth a watch. I've seen quite a few, so I probably won't be waking up quite so early to see this one.
- CATSCEO, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Its a lunar eclipse, dumbass.
- Whaines, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That's...his point?
- CATSCEO, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Its a lunar eclipse, dumbass.
- fabrics, on 10/10/2007, -6/+0 mysterious lunar Eclipse of 2007 in Pictures

-raccoonusa- steger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Please delete that site and don't ever make another web site again. thanks.
- meepus, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That's awful of you, considering the person who made that post is probably a child.
- steger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Please delete that site and don't ever make another web site again. thanks.
- raccoonusa, on 10/10/2007, -7/+0Check out MY site. I made it myself.
- enivid, on 10/10/2007, -10/+4Does this astro-sign mean I have to commit suicide or that everybody else has to commit suicide. I can never remember.
- raccoonusa, on 10/10/2007, -3/+2What are you saying?
- sabach, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1We'll let you start then we'll catch up later.
- JJsays, on 10/10/2007, -11/+3Be a good night to maybe attack Iran.
- raccoonusa, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1I do not like what you said about Iraq even though they are torturing us and blowing us up.
- swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1You are wrong because the Ayatollah transforms into a werewolf every time there is a lunar eclipse. He's known to feast on bald eagles and abort babies whilst he undergoes the transformation.
- swrostmore, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1in other words it would be bad to invade Iran when there is a werewolf involved unless our troops are outfitted with silver bullets provided by KBR at a reasonable price.
- 7Mystery, on 10/10/2007, -8/+2I gotta go find a hooker that keeps me up till 3
- raccoonusa, on 10/10/2007, -9/+0I like your link, it helped me on a science project I was doing. When I came up to this site to research things I saw your Digg and I loved it. Thanks!
raccoonusa- CATSCEO, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1YOU SUCK
/Peter
- CATSCEO, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1YOU SUCK
- jjpertusch, on 10/10/2007, -7/+126 to 7:30am, huh... Eastern Time wins AGAIN! give it up for the best time zone to live in, baby!
enjoy waking up at 3am Pacific Daylight Time. *snicker*- docbob84, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3The sun will be up by then. Early on you might get a cool view, with red sky to the east and red moon to the west. After a while tho the sky will block out the moon and the moon will set pretty quickly after that, if it hasn't already set by about 6:30.
- mrASSMAN, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You little bully.. well I get to stay up to view the stories you don't see until tomorrow on digg because I've got an extra 3 hours :p
- jamoes, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Actually, that site is fairly misleading. 6:37 will be the middle of the eclipse. If you want to see it from the beginning, you'll have to be up at 4:51AM EST. If you wake up at 6:30, you won't see any moon at all, because it will be eclipsed. If you get up at 4:50 though, you'll actually get to see it being eclipsed.
- jamoes, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Whoops, looks like I'm mistaken. After reading this site:http://www.mreclipse.com/Special/LEprimer.html, it looks like the coolest part of the eclipse is when the total eclipse occurs. The moon isn't totally dark, it actually turns orange-ish.
I've only seen one lunar eclipse before, and the part that I remember is the part leading up to the total eclipse, which I thought was pretty cool. Over the course of one hour, you see the moon totally disappear
- skim1420, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The best place to watch is actually left coast (PST). It's too late to articulate why... just look at this map:
http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/LEmono/TLE2007Aug28/image/TLE2007Aug28-Map1.GIF
- Lister169, on 10/10/2007, -5/+4That's no moo...hey where'd it go?
- eohano, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0http://www.xkcd.com/307/
- david76, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Unfortunately, the total eclipse will be after moonset in most of the U.S.
http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/LEmono/TLE2007Aug28/image/TLE2007Aug28-Map1.GIF - Acksull, on 10/10/2007, -14/+2Remember kids, NEVER look a Lunar Eclipse with your unaided eye; this could cause major eye damage and possible blindness!
- Bob042, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Yeah, don't want to get blinded by that... moonlight. Solar eclipses are the ones that shouldn't be directly viewed.
- MrSlumberjack, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1your a moron
- jaredforshey, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Good advice! ... for solar eclipses.
- Tsen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2/sarcasm
- Topher06, on 10/10/2007, -10/+0Who cares, the Earth blocks the light to the moon every 30 or so days. No friggen way I am getting up a 5 am to watch it.
- NeilVickers, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10You might want to check some basic astronomy sources before making statements like that.
Just saying... - SonicAD, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3No, you're thinking of a new moon. That happens when the moon passes between the Earth and the Sun. This is a lunar eclipse, which happens when the Earth is between the Sun and the Moon.
- breakspirit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1so what's the difference between a new moon and a solar eclipse? same thing, just different time of day? I'm honestly interested
- ajgv, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1he had it wrong; watever.
/drunk - Tsen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2New moon means the earth is behind the moon, and thus the sun is reflecting away from us. Lunar eclipse means the earth blocks the light of the sun from reaching the moon, thus far less light is reflected. Lunar eclipses only happen on full moons, hence are on the opposite side of the earth relative to the sun.
- eohano, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0You are seriously a moron.
- ajgv, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1he had it wrong; watever.
- breakspirit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1so what's the difference between a new moon and a solar eclipse? same thing, just different time of day? I'm honestly interested
- NeilVickers, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10You might want to check some basic astronomy sources before making statements like that.
- sabach, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I don't which appalls me more, the laziness or the total lack of any understanding of planetary science.
- astrimbu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1* I don't know which...
- sabach, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yes, and I am appalled at myself. Fer shame, fer shame.
- sabach, on 10/10/2007, -0/+15:00AM EDT and it's just starting, I think the moon will set here before the eclipse is full.
- astrimbu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1* I don't know which...
- dorkino, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2Sayonara, comments. Down you go!
- Cykaos, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1Sanjaya?
- agann, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0montage of shots from the Lunar Eclipse, taken 03/03/2007:
http://www.picturesinn.com/_montage_of_shots_from_the_Lunar_Eclipse_taken_03_03_2007 - r00tus3r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2http://sunearth.gsfc.nasa.gov/eclipse/LEmono/TLE2007Aug28/image/TLE2007Aug28-GMT.GIF
is it me, or is there something wrong with that? How does it go from 11:22am to 12:24am? Wouldn't it be 12:24pm. More importantly, I live in GMT - 4 / 5 so I'm guessing it'll be daylight in my area when this is going on right ... and i won't be able to see it. - heaintheavy, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3Is this like a total eclipse of the heart?
- jd33, on 10/10/2007, -3/+1Total Eclipse of the Heart.
- TDTech, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28:10PM in New Zealand for ones wondering.
- Khetu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1It's silly that each of the pictures is just the same picture with the times changed to correlate to each timezone.
...because converting from GMT is so difficult...?- richiestang78, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Some people cant add or subtract up to 4 hours, its hard for them. but im definetly going to watch it. Saw one over 15 years ago when I was little nice to see one now.
- ajgv, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1seriously? i'm only 21, and i've seen 3 at least, already.
- richiestang78, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Some people cant add or subtract up to 4 hours, its hard for them. but im definetly going to watch it. Saw one over 15 years ago when I was little nice to see one now.
- ki1022, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The East and West are reversed in those diagrams. Right?
- Khetu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0That's why 'E' is on the left side, and 'W' is on the other.
If you're asking why: When you look up, east and west are reversed if you still have north pointing 'up'.
- Khetu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0That's why 'E' is on the left side, and 'W' is on the other.
- Mystikal, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Or we could just stay up till 3 over here in Cali. Were not pussies.
Saw it. It was awesome. - belahory, on 11/25/2007, -0/+0Cheapest and the best data recovery service in the world.
