Am I missing something, but aren't we looking for organic material in space? Isn't that life? - FoxFaction, on 06/25/2009, -0/+8It's weird to think about, but if Earth was like Saturn and had rings, then the space race wouldn't be to the moon anymore, satellites would take more effort to keep aloft, and our relationship with the sky would probably be completely different. Maybe we would've realized a heliocentric view more quickly in history if we had had the rings to help us understand space. There would be ring "eclipses" fairly often. Debris would fall to Earth regularly. The culture of the human race would've developed very differently. Yay, space.
- OUSooner, on 06/25/2009, -0/+6Saturn just seems so unreal. Truly amazing.
- FoxFaction, on 06/25/2009, -0/+5It got the rings during its engagement to Jupiter. I read that on wikipedia.
- jsp123, on 06/25/2009, -0/+4That is just the building blocks of life.
- edd17, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3An organic compound is really just any chemical compound with carbon (things like hydrocarbons). They certainly necessary for life to exist, but can be found where there is no life.
- inactive, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3Rings are made when moons reach the Roche limit under giant planet's gravity. They tear apart creating those rings. Any planet that large will never be able to support life intelligent life. I know what you're saying though. It would be cool to look at from down below. i must say.
- ToeAndno, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3Must be true then!
- e1ioan, on 06/25/2009, -0/+3Here a a better picture of Iapetus. Doesn't this moon looks artificially made?

- VermiciousKnid, on 06/26/2009, -0/+2That's no moon. It's a space station:

- MariamWilliams, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Very nice 2nd one am setting my PC wallpaper
- TheSeeker11, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Anyone spot the EMV?
- BDOUG, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2No wonder they look at me so strangely whenever I order Enceladus at the Mexican restaurant.
- Garofoli, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Saturn is so pimp.
- woofers07, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2Man, who let the short-bus off in here.
- merlin5, on 06/25/2009, -0/+2If we could only learn how to live under water these ice moons with oceans inside around Jupiter and Saturn would make excellant places to live.
- wjlaw100, on 06/25/2009, -1/+2Rather have this picture on my laptop than one of Uranus.
- CitizenSnipps, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1I saw Saturn this past spring from a decently strong telescope. It looked like a cartoon. Nothing as cool as this though.
- FoxFaction, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1Maybe before the moon completely formed we had rings too? I'm no astrophysicist though, so it's hard for me to say. :P
- fightdebull, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1Looks like a walnut...
- carlson001, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1Still not as good as this picture of Saturn: http://www.gameconsoles.com/images/Sega%20Saturn%2 ...
- Mawds, on 06/25/2009, -7/+5So wanna be in a spaceship now taking a real look, up close.
- bastardx, on 06/25/2009, -8/+6Next up in this series: Visions of Uranus
