The N44 Complex
apod.nasa.gov — A truly giant complex of emission nebulae, N44 is about 1,000 light-years across. It shines in southern skies as a denizen of our neighboring galaxy, the Large Magellanic Cloud, 170,000 light-years away.

- cinnabon, on 03/27/2008, -15/+3To those who hate to see APOD everyday. Please BURY it as duplicate or spam. This may help for not showing it on the front page.
- somethingsimple, on 03/27/2008, -4/+1and why would we do that?
- Manshima, on 03/27/2008, -2/+7Because umpteen million articles about Linux is SO much more interesting???
- shegann, on 03/27/2008, -3/+1What does your apparently hating APOD have to do with
other people viewing this magnificant sight?
On the front page of What??? - SetecAstronomy, on 03/27/2008, -5/+1Ditto Cinnabon. Anyone with any sense should have APOD bookmarked. Visit it daily, but quit submitting it to digg! It's as tired as XKCD, and fairly shameless karma whoring.
- nallelcm, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1but then you don't get to read amusing comments.
- JulyZerg, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1So stop spamming here about how much you hate it. Do you read every story on the FP, or something, and it offends you to be forced to see the words "APOD"?
- MaidMirawyn, on 03/27/2008, -1/+3Soooo cool. I love this one!

Pastafarians unite!- chromerium, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1"All hail N44, our lord and master!" doesn't quite have the right ring to it.
- cynic573, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1I, for one, welcome our nebulous overlords.
- cmuwriter, on 03/27/2008, -2/+2That's what happens when God lights his own farts.

- harrisbradley, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6SpongeBob: Hey, Patrick, are you thinking what I'm thinking?
Patrick: Oh, you want to run some statistics or observe phenomenon and render hypothesis of said phenomenon

I was gonna say that it was ridiculously awesome-looking. Crayola Crayons ftw - TheZorch, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2The beauty and majesty of the universe fails to astonish us.
- xen0blue, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1thought it was going to be about some cool building, but it ended up being about some nebula thing
- kahakauai, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2These are always so incredible. Thanks for posting em!

- 15thPD, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2Wow.. the vastness of our universe just blows my mind. I can't even comprehend something so vast, yet it's only a tiny chunk of our INSANELY ENORMOUS universe. I wish I could live forever so I could see the day where science allows us to actually explore it.
