- JonTheGoose, on 10/01/2008, -4/+51Fake. The moon is made of cheese.
- droversoul, on 10/01/2008, -1/+36Ah, new wallpaper. http://www.rc-astro.com/img/moon_2005-04-18_id1018 ...
For the lazy folk. - T00NY, on 10/01/2008, -3/+23That's a great picture :-)
- LeviTheSmith, on 10/01/2008, -4/+21I would love to drive go-karts on that
- dafragsta, on 10/01/2008, -0/+16Reason #143 to go back to the moon: The cameras on the first landing were black and white and low def. Imagine how much cooler things are going to look in HD full color.
- nofate2029, on 10/01/2008, -2/+17Looks more like a Space Station to me...
- Medicamusic, on 10/28/2008, -1/+12If the moon were made of barbeque spare ribs, Would you eat it?!?
- Daniru, on 10/01/2008, -1/+11Take a look at the picture again, it's clearly made of sherbet.
- gbarger, on 10/01/2008, -1/+11Wow, that's definitely a nice new wallpaper.
- KenSPT, on 10/01/2008, -2/+10It's not as nice as my cubicle.
Okay, it is; my cubicle sucks. - whahaa, on 10/01/2008, -2/+10agreed, but it'd be even better if we could paint flames on it.
- Mookie5, on 10/01/2008, -0/+8I'm not lazy, but couldn't figure out how to save the image once the right-click context menu didn't work.
thanks! - Kenzan, on 10/01/2008, -0/+8Yes, beautiful photo, but the guy was a douche for trying to disallow users from instantly making it their wallpaper.
Quite Silly of him, really - SilkHope, on 10/01/2008, -2/+10Yeah.. Dugg just 'cause it's pretty.. Oh, and looks like a nice website to revisit now, too.. :)
- droversoul, on 10/01/2008, -0/+6Actually, all I did was drag the image into a new Firefox tab. Simple as that.
- Medicamusic, on 10/28/2008, -0/+6NICE. im on a school computer and it wouldnt let me do it from the other site. Thanks!
- orangefly, on 10/01/2008, -0/+6thanks,
the lazy people - ilessthan3pi, on 10/01/2008, -1/+7You can't paint flames on the moon
- Haecceity, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5Use firefox. Look at the page info and click on the "media" tab.
- jkendal4, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5What is it you want, Mary? What do you want? You want the moon? Just say the word and I'll throw a lasso around it and pull it down. Hey. That's a pretty good idea. I'll give you the moon, Mary.
- Zomgondo, on 10/01/2008, -0/+5That makes defeating his stupid right-click blocker all the more sweet.
- cuoops, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4That's a cool site. The guy controls his telescope in New Mexico from Austin Texas. There's webcams, more great pictures and other interesting stuff if you dig around.
- camiller, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4If it did we would already be there getting it.
Or if your liberal... we would already have troops there. - a1cd, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4too bad you cant paint flames on it..
- shadowspawn, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4Somebody already did. It was pretty expensive to get it up there, but they felt better about their family after riding it.

- perhapsimcrazy, on 10/01/2008, -4/+8There is no dark side of the moon really,
Matter of fact it's all dark. - icecycles, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4From his "About" page:
"No description of my life would be complete without at least a mention of the real guiding force in it, which is my chosen faith, Scientology. I have been a Scientologist since 1994, shortly after I moved to Austin. Through studying and applying the principles of this philosophy to my life, I have learned what for me has been the most important lesson of all... that the real meaning in our lives is the meaning that we ourselves give it. Scientology provides the means by which anyone can create that meaning for themselves, and expand their lives to bring real help and joy to others." - YouAreNumber6, on 10/01/2008, -1/+5What's your favorite planet?
Mine is the Sun. - camiller, on 10/01/2008, -0/+4No
- LeviTheSmith, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3Those *****.. stole my idea
- raypricestandup, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3Alan Bean (lunar module pilot Apollo 12) has been quoted as saying that he saw many different colors on the lunar surface - unlike the other astronauts who visited the surface.
- morgauo, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3Scientologist huh? I don't know if I am sad or amused by that. Maybe he's watching for the DC-10s to return.
- LeviTheSmith, on 10/01/2008, -0/+3That's what they tell you in school...
It's the big pharma teamed up with the Obama/McCain NWO(which is under the guidance of the reverse vampires) to stop any of us normal folk to paint flames on the moon. - optamystic, on 10/01/2008, -1/+3No. Coal and oil are called fossil fuels because they are derived from organic matter, which has never existed on the moon.
- paulieslim, on 10/01/2008, -1/+3My god! Its full of purple
- jakdracula, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2I saw it written and I saw it say
Pink moon is on its way
And none of you stand so tall
Pink moon gonna get you all
Its a pink moon
Its a pink, pink, pink, pink, pink moon.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hE0ODrmaiFE - LogicBomB, on 10/01/2008, -1/+3Beat me to it - I just dugg through the page source to get this for everyone. Still, thanks.
- Culyt, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2Speed isn't really the issue since it take the same time for a signal containing basic audio as it would for one with a full HD imax 36deg panoramic 7.1channel video.
The problem is bandwidth, which is basically dependent on how much the signal will degrade as it is sent, the moons not that far away that its an issue. Otherwise it will be dependent on the equipment they send, this ould be a problem since they need to be radiation proof and such but there are already quite hires images being returned so I think they have that covered (IMAX space movies are already fairly hires for instance).
We also have newer technologies that allow us to fit more into a smaller space, digital signals and compression that they didn't have back then.
There is also plans for an interplanetary internet so we could see hubs in orbit around bodies like the moon (especially since they are an important step to humans on Mars and prior missions and the moons a training ground for that).

Plus they can record and bring it back while broadcasting a lower quality live feed. - CrushThemTorg, on 10/01/2008, -1/+3But can we paint with all the colors of the wind?
- Haecceity, on 10/01/2008, -0/+2The video cameras were low def. The still cameras were awesome (not to get too technical, since I can't).
- skeetmuffin, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1ok, what the ***** now?
- aut0maticdan, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1bandwidth is probably not nearly as much of a problem as latency. I bet they could muster up the bandwidth and if they wanted to show it live they could, though it would be delayed.
I'm more about photos though and don't see major appeal in live video. The stuff they've gotten from the Mars landers has been phenomenal. would be great to have that of the moon. - uptwolait, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1I was expecting something like this.
http://itsallabouthallie.files.wordpress.com/2008/ ... - eebeelive, on 10/02/2008, -0/+1Spectacular!
- skinny01, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1Looks like there's a lot of mining going on up there.
- rkbabang, on 11/06/2008, -0/+1Sure hydrocarbons only come from dead dinosaurs. That is why Jupiter's moon Europa is covered in Methane. And some asteroids are known to contain hydrocarbons as well ( http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/abstract/238 ... )
< sarcasm > I guess there were dinosaurs on Europa and on many of the asteroids, but not on our moon. I'll tell you, for a bunch of big dumb lizards, they settled further out into the solar system than we have been able to so far. < / sarcasm >(tags provided for the humor impaired). - Van3ck, on 10/01/2008, -1/+2That's no Moon...
- zadadka, on 10/01/2008, -0/+1I preferred Harvey, but a pooka doesn't have much to say about the moon.
- skeetmuffin, on 10/01/2008, -1/+2very nice photograph of our moon, would be cool if thats how we actually saw it when we looked up. It would make my shroom trips even greater.
