- inactive, on 09/29/2008, -3/+105NASA officials are now investigating reports that Zhai Zhigang is indeed, 14 years of age.
- ChemBot, on 09/29/2008, -2/+66Good thing there was a Russian guy hanging out in space to capture this on a cell phone camera for youtube
- Pinkertinkle, on 09/29/2008, -11/+74You know a lot of people in America think their recent ancestors lived with dinosaurs.
- RafiParrr, on 09/28/2008, -18/+76Good for them. Hope they make it to the moon and beyond, because frankly, it doesn't look like we'll be doing it anytime soon.
- maracle2, on 09/29/2008, -2/+54The Chinese have already started on construction of the Space wall of China.
- LaughingMan89, on 09/29/2008, -12/+53One giant reap for mankind.

- vvaduva, on 09/29/2008, -8/+31Yes China, congrats! The blue screen is hardly visible!!
- leif77, on 09/29/2008, -2/+23It was a soundstage on mars.
- LordVoldemort, on 09/29/2008, -21/+41You just know a lot of people in China think they are the first.
- Junkey, on 09/29/2008, -2/+21No they didn't fool.
- UberNick, on 09/29/2008, -5/+24No, you look it up and provide some credible links, bucko
- pukiman, on 09/29/2008, -0/+18Yeah. Go Russia!
- godfly, on 09/29/2008, -4/+21If the moon was made of sweet and sour spareribs, would you eat it?
- veracon, on 09/29/2008, -0/+17John McCain might have.
- inactive, on 09/29/2008, -2/+17The flag is waving in space...FAKE /sarcasm
- DiggItalia, on 09/29/2008, -3/+17I guess at the same pace of yours with Katrina.
- TheDHC, on 09/28/2008, -7/+21The birth of a conspiracy theorist.
- l33tspam, on 09/29/2008, -6/+20Haha, I didn't know you were allowed to access digg in China.
Nice government, how's that earthquake recovery coming? - Pinkertinkle, on 09/29/2008, -0/+13Actually I think China did it for very little money, their whole program only costs as much as a few of our space shuttle launches.
- deuceswilde, on 09/29/2008, -1/+14Yeah, and isn't it weird how the flag always ends up pointing towards the Earth? It's almost as if there were some kind of... force, exerted by the Earth that caused such a thing. Too weird, it'll probably be centuries before we work that one out.
/sarcasm - drzaeus, on 09/29/2008, -5/+18Did they all get out of the vehicle and float around in a circle before getting back in?
- WraTH017, on 09/29/2008, -5/+17And they don't even need to worry about cosmic radiation, since their space suits are probably 60% lead.
And as Americans, we should also be proud of this accomplishment... We probably paid for it. - DougUpndown, on 09/29/2008, -0/+12Actually, Reyoo, I'd be willing to bet a small amount of MrBabyMan's money that China will actually get to the Moon, colonise it, and have the Moons first operational base while NASA is still trying to get the money out of the taxpayers to fund their own vision of space exploration.
NASA may have the decades of knowledge and experience, but those 20th Century rules of play no longer apply. This is the 21st Century, and China can pretty much do whatever they like, whenever they like, to whomever they want. And we can't stop them.
Care to take that wager? - Pinkertinkle, on 09/29/2008, -0/+11 * The first EVA was carried out by Alexey Leonov on March 18, 1965 from the Voskhod 2 spacecraft.
* The first EVA by an American astronaut was made on June 3, 1965 by Edward White during the Gemini 4 mission. - SpeedSteamBoat, on 09/29/2008, -0/+11I know, it's almost as if there wasn't air or gravity acting on it... very suspicious.
- Wuss, on 09/29/2008, -1/+11The amazing thing is how they got into outter space. They just stacked people high enough until zero gravity pulled the last guy into orbit.
- wcarr005, on 09/29/2008, -2/+11Dude... it flutters because theres no air resistance in space and it can move freely around when he waves it... DUH Maybe you should watch mythbusters once in a while
- FreshPineSent, on 09/29/2008, -0/+9*puts on space helmet, clicks on comm switch*
***** YEAH! - urbandistrict, on 09/29/2008, -2/+11Fake, there are no applause in space!
- leif77, on 09/29/2008, -0/+9They wont have to work too hard this time to make it visible from space...
- WatW, on 09/29/2008, -1/+10That's actually because of a lack of wind. There is no resistance so the flag waves more. Check out the recent Mythbusters episode on the moon landing conspiracy theories. Good stuff.
- FeloniusMonkey, on 09/29/2008, -2/+10I've always wondered what freeze-dried wontons taste like.
- haikuFU, on 09/29/2008, -4/+12Did anyone else notice that he was attached to the ship with a finger trap?
- akoostik, on 09/29/2008, -0/+7http://www.flickr.com/photos/jdierx/2896742147/
- pukiman, on 09/29/2008, -1/+8No.
- oMeSSiaHo, on 09/29/2008, -0/+7Umm... Orion, Project Constellation?! Its not like these projects are new...
- kolyana, on 09/29/2008, -2/+8Not all of us are 'mad' nor 'jealous' of any growth in China *thumbsup*
Congratulations on the Spacewalk. - FreshPineSent, on 09/29/2008, -2/+8276,542
- pukiman, on 09/29/2008, -1/+7Yes.
- sailadayaway, on 09/29/2008, -3/+8Yea, and I bet a bunch of Americans think we were the first in space too.
- WELLDOITLIVE, on 09/29/2008, -0/+5with flied robster
- HairyFotr, on 09/29/2008, -0/+5Space walk is a term for the regular folks... the correct term is extra-vehicular activity, and that by all means was an EVA.
And the dictionary agrees with this definition:
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/space%20 ...
as does wikipedia, which automatically redirects from Space walk to EVA:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space_walk
If you mean untethered space walk.. yes, NASA really is the only one to have tried it, but this Chinese space walk was also tethered, so the Chinese haven't beaten the Russians as you've stated in your first post. - trashsportcat, on 09/29/2008, -1/+6just without invading other countrys for lies...
at least for now - SpeedSteamBoat, on 09/29/2008, -0/+4So what? No one is saying Russia made it to the moon. They performed the first space walk, put the first satelite in space, and performed the first orbital flight of Earth.
I think I know your problem though. You are can confusing the term "space walk" with walking on the moon. Space walk is just a term used to describe E.V.A. (extra-vehicular activity, i.e. climbing out of your capsule and floating around)
Does that help? -
