- CoffeeCup, on 03/21/2008, -2/+3That is what a Sunset in China looks like before all the smog blows away.
- tuxerware, on 03/21/2008, -1/+6If it was tatooine there would have been two suns.. it's a binary star system.
- jmas9, on 03/21/2008, -3/+1I think I speak for many when I say.

- aguitarhero, on 03/21/2008, -0/+9May I respond with a bit of poetry
"A thing of beauty is a joy for ever. Its loveliness increases, it will never pass into nothingness"
-John Keats
Because something is old doesn't mean it isn't worth digging! - bgmowen, on 03/21/2008, -3/+1I agree this picture has been on digg quite a few times. its as old as the internet
- turdblossom1, on 03/21/2008, -6/+54i look forward to my grandchildren sitting on that hill, taking bong rips, and listening to Dark Side of the Moon in 2060
- cygnus2112, on 03/21/2008, -13/+5If you're smoking weed beside your grandchildren in 52 years, you have more problems than just sitting on a hill on Mars.
- EpicSelekta, on 03/21/2008, -2/+3I don't think sitting on a hill on mars in 2060 is really considered a problem.
- edicius, on 03/21/2008, -1/+2And, he didn't say he would be sitting with them.
- duk0r, on 03/21/2008, -3/+4Problems? What are these problems you speak of? Also, where did he say he would be sitting beside his grandchildren? Reading FTW!
- cygnus2112, on 03/21/2008, -3/+2It was 6:30am .. I have good reason!
- Avaseal, on 03/21/2008, -2/+0Lemme guess: You were sitting on a hill, toking up to Darkside of the Moon just before writing that comment?
- cygnus2112, on 03/21/2008, -3/+2It was 6:30am .. I have good reason!
- MuletTheGreat, on 03/21/2008, -1/+8so he plans on selling his grandchildren to the mars mining colony?
- kajoob, on 03/21/2008, -0/+4Quaid can't do it alone.
- cygnus2112, on 03/21/2008, -13/+5If you're smoking weed beside your grandchildren in 52 years, you have more problems than just sitting on a hill on Mars.
- markbri, on 03/21/2008, -13/+3not as romantic as sunset on earth :/
- kahrytan, on 03/21/2008, -2/+4You're right, It's better.
- Vincent21212, on 03/21/2008, -1/+58The thought of this is amazing! We are all aware of the existence of other planets, but to view a sight that we're familiar with on Earth, in a different location in Space, is spectacular
- ELWOOD_BLUES, on 03/21/2008, -2/+31They need more pollution on Mars to get a really nice sunset.
- trezegol, on 03/21/2008, -1/+3kinda OT but, does anyone know where I can find a pic on mars at night with the moons visible? I know that one of them is not that visible, but the other one should be fine .

Who else is going?- EpicSelekta, on 03/21/2008, -1/+13I hear the wifi coverage is horrendous.
- keepinithamsta, on 03/21/2008, -2/+2You're paying right?
- Qays, on 03/21/2008, -1/+3Wow, its weird how it has a blue glow and it reminds me of the northern lights
- kajoob, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2the northern lights I remember from college was green
- bterwill, on 03/21/2008, -6/+2more romantic than sunset on earth :)
- identifiedlogo, on 03/21/2008, -1/+7100 years from now...Standing atop a hill "We saw the sunset like this"
- baalzebub, on 03/21/2008, -1/+6cool, another wallpaper to add to my collection...
- Sixxer, on 03/21/2008, -7/+1Old, dupe.
http://digg.com/space/Sunset_on_Mars_jpg_link- MuletTheGreat, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2stfu. Why can we not enjoy something twice? And if you never miss a story EVAR you need something to occupy more of your time. Like an xbox or a girlfreind.
- flyzzx, on 03/21/2008, -2/+0Surreal.
The blue hue around the sunset could have been caused by a different degree of Rayleigh scattering by the Mar's atmosphere. It's the same phenomenon behind our apparent blue sky.- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1I was going to say how ironic it is that our sunset can create a glow of reds and yellows and orange... while the sunset on redish sky Mars creates a blue glow... Very interesting.
- edicius, on 03/21/2008, -0/+2I think you did say it.

- Mr.Mayonaise, on 03/21/2008, -1/+1looks smoggy ....
Mars for the Olympics - MuletTheGreat, on 03/21/2008, -6/+4I am a bannana.
- RunJun, on 03/21/2008, -1/+30To think I live in an age where I can actually see what a sunset looks like on another planet.
- Sherman901, on 03/21/2008, -7/+2it's fake! it's a hollywood set up! that was taken somewhere in arizona
but it's an awesome picture.- onefatfrog, on 03/21/2008, -0/+4I don't believe man has ever been to Arizona either. It is just a Hollywood fake, done in New Mexico.
- edicius, on 03/21/2008, -0/+4Yeah, and "New" Mexico is ***** too. Everybody knows that there is only one Mexico, and it's old as *****.

Regardless, it's still neat.- bwishey, on 03/21/2008, -1/+1On, and I ignored the two years+ ones. That's plenty of time for a resubmission.

- RadonPL, on 03/21/2008, -1/+2Now I know where Ubuntu got its default theme from; Martians! :)
- Totz83, on 03/21/2008, -1/+2Looks cold & bleak, kinda like Norway
- thephuckphase, on 03/21/2008, -2/+2all you need is luke skywalker with an arched posture on top of the hill looking into the horizon. i can hear the music in my head. great photo, eerily beautiful
- flawedprefect, on 03/21/2008, -1/+1Awesome.
- cuoops, on 03/21/2008, -1/+11What's more amazing is the rovers are still there gathering data.
- BCRazgriz, on 03/23/2008, -0/+1I hope one day we can retrieve the little guys!
- rumblestrut, on 03/21/2008, -1/+0Tatooine? Oh, nevermind, there's a sun missing.
- chewbacca77, on 03/21/2008, -1/+1That makes me feel very cold and lonely...
- verkon, on 03/21/2008, -1/+4Can't help to get a weird feeling about this photo.
Like, it is on mars for starters, the sun is visible and it is so much smaller then what we look upon here on earth, yet it lights up so much of the surface. The picture is ghostly, vast dead plains but still the sun shines over it. - jerrycan, on 03/21/2008, -2/+0"They should have sent a poet."
- BurgerDST, on 03/21/2008, -1/+4The Martian sun is smaller than ours.
- dafragsta, on 03/21/2008, -1/+2Someone check the emissions on that rover. Look at all the smog!
- uptwolait, on 03/21/2008, -1/+1We'd better claim the oil rights there ASAP!
- biff198, on 03/21/2008, -1/+5I must admit, the idea that the sun seems smaller from the more distant planet never really occurred to me until I saw this. Great picture!
- tehknotte, on 03/21/2008, -2/+2How did they get this picture?
- slapded, on 03/21/2008, -0/+6technology.
- tehknotte, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1I think it's weird how we can see a sunset on Mars though.
- slapded, on 03/21/2008, -0/+6technology.
- captmorgan555, on 03/21/2008, -1/+1Anyone else notice foot print looking marks on the lower left side?
- peterinjapan, on 03/21/2008, -2/+1Seen it before, but day-amn, it's nice. Dugg.
- Zoophagous, on 03/21/2008, -2/+1Great photo but old. This has been my desktop background for months.
- jamez, on 03/21/2008, -5/+1Thanks for the trip down "If-I-Had-Alzheimer's-And-Needed-To-See-News-Reposted-Every-Other-Day" road.
Really ***** fun, thanks. - judicar, on 03/21/2008, -2/+1This is the one dupe I'll always digg.
- vile20, on 03/21/2008, -1/+1All I can say is WOW. Wow. Wow. I've always imagined looking at a sunset - maybe from another planet in a different star system ... It would be AMAZING! ... Awe-inspiring!
To just ONCE have the opportunity to do it ... would be worth everything! (Well maybe NOT everything - but it comes damn close!)- someuser90, on 03/22/2008, -0/+0I don't understand how it would be such a big deal.
- gllopc, on 03/21/2008, -0/+1Great! Now where's that chick with the three breasts?
- ronaldpoi, on 03/23/2008, -0/+1It needs clouds
