- thechosen, on 04/17/2008, -1/+5Am I the only one that is sad that I can no longer use the word "stellar" in a sentence without being called a homosexual?
- kss42, on 04/17/2008, -0/+4I would say as splendid. Certainly they are not more than 10% apart in splendor.
- br0wnstar, on 04/17/2008, -0/+3That is ***** phenomenal. Looking at the Toronto sky, you see about... 10 stars on a good night... sigh...
- gandre, on 04/17/2008, -0/+2I've always wondered what is it in optics that causes those 4 lines out of stars

- AztecScribe, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1Curiously enough if you look at those lines you see the spectrum of visible light (it stretches out turning from to yellow to white again).
- R0l0, on 04/17/2008, -0/+1tsk.. I suppose the reference was a bit on the obscure side-- http://WhatYouSeeWhenYouDie.ytmnd.com/
- Mootabolife, on 04/17/2008, -1/+2If you look at the star of Bethlehem portrayed in paintings, it has them too. So I'm pretty sure it came before cameras.

- halfcabbage, on 04/17/2008, -1/+0On a normal camera lens, Its the reflection of light on the aperture blades in the lens of the camera. I'm not too sure how an ultra-powerful mirror lens like the one on Hubble works, But I'm guessing its from the cross supports that hold the secondary mirror, or the baffles that are used to keep out stray light.
- R0l0, on 04/17/2008, -3/+1It's not complete without a cat on a keyboard.
