- michaelschaaf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+77No sound is good in this situation.
Otherwise, we would here lots of "Dude, check this ***** ***** out dude!" - aaronlidman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+51Thought I'd make it a tad easier..

- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14There should be pics out there too of a car that got hit by it, took out its tail light.
found it: http://antwrp.gsfc.nasa.gov/apod/ap021118.html - elroy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Americas Funniest Videos = 20th century YouTube
- idonthack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Description of the sound:
"The most detailed account that we received was that by Patsy Keith and family who observed the fireball from a car near Altoona, Pennsylvania. The sound was described as a "crackling sound like that of a sparkler." The sound lasted for about 10 seconds and was audible for several seconds after the first major fragmentation event."

- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+13Don't hate me, but this has been shown on TV on Amazing Home Video type shows years before the internet became what it is today. Just thought I'd inform you in case your story got buried.
- Linkage155, on 10/12/2007, -5/+11Not really, reality = low res, when in videogames you could be killing some aliens ON the meteor falling on earth ;)
- digg0digg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6another view

No, its just that we all got 1 spawn_max, on spawn_surface and got .teamdamage and .rocketjump disabled. - netdroid9, on 10/12/2007, -2/+7Even god thought that pass should've counted.
- Tenlow, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Yeah I was going to say didnt this happen in 95? (it actually happend in 92)
- JC-Sharp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4What is your reasoning for that? Had YOU ever seen this footage? I hadn't. To me this is front page worthy because it's a science related video that appeals to me, and clearly others.
Just because you're a jealous douche don't come down on good content like this or other videos people may be interested in that aren't *insert shocked sound* of south park, the daily show, the Colbert report or family guy.
Science is science, it's in the proper category (space). You don't want to see it on your front page? remove space from the list of things that will show up. That way you don't have to waste time bitching. - GuyHitByTruck, on 10/12/2007, -4/+7That's no moon, it's a space station!
- Spamiclese, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2When will people learn to do themselves and everyone a favor by hosting these things on YouTube BEFORE they link to it? Oh right, they just want to get their blog hits via something they saw on FARK or someone elses blog.
- knaps, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1On a similar note, last night was the night when this year's Leonid meteor shower (aka "The Leonids") happened. Did any amateur east-coast or European diggers/astronomers go out and watch? It was too cloudy where I was to see anything.
- iheartspain, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That is awesome!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Yes, im in NJ. I watched it with my girlfriend, we loved it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The shower is called Leonids. It originates from the constellation Leo. This happens every November.
- nerdtek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In case you're a real astrogeek here's a link to the paper: http://aquarid.physics.uwo.ca/%7Epbrown/peekskill-nature.pdf
- qwab, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1INVADERS FROM MARS!
- nerdtek, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This meteor went right up the eastern seaboard before taking out a woman's car in Peekskill NY. What's really cool is this guy Peter Brown http://aquarid.physics.uwo.ca/~pbrown/ calculated the original orbit of the object before it struck our atmosphere.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Did anyone see the Leonids last night?
They were amazing. - lippyjka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thats not a comet! Thats Superman!
- dengzhi, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3GO YOUTUBE!
- veektor, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That was a classic video. I saw a meteorite once. It was a good size bolder that split into two before both chunks burnt up. The motion was as if it were falling through water.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+7What is up with that video? It is labeled the Johnstown, PA meteor. Does the moron who made this video think that people have camcorders in 1924 when the Johnstown meteor fell? This was in Peeksill, NY. I knew people whowere at the football game.
- iamshades, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1the Leonids were awesome last night.
- gr4yscale, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1My fiance and I tried to watch it but it was too cloudy =
- Bighaugs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Alas, poor Johnstown. First the flood and now fire raining down from heaven.
- dopyoman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I stayed up last night thinking i was going to see something spectacular. I mean the news said there was going to be a meteor shower predicting 100-150 meteors an hour.
I really should have done my math before getting so excited at 150 meteors/h that equals only 2.5 meteors a min. Not what I was imagining. All in all I managed to see 3 meteors in span of 1h. The point of my rant none. And to those who missed it, you didnt miss much. - Onestone, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3poor ISS...
- Linkage155, on 10/12/2007, -6/+5Amazing, anyone happen to know if some HD versions of in-coming meteors are available online?
- briandadude, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This remind anyone else of Maniac Mansion?
- forchilli, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0thats pretty crazy!
- Cable, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2nice car at the end
- Justin6512, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1the sonic boom probably blew the microphone :P
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1That was pretty damn impressive and yet quite scary to think that just a few miles closer and/or bigger and we probably wouldn't be here anymore.
- deepsandwich, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Good point. Which makes this officially a BC video.
- haswain, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2yawn. This is old. Can't quite figure out why this is Digg worthy.
- Flashman, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1That's not a meteor! It's a space shuttle!
- Crass22, on 10/12/2007, -9/+4You sir, are a liar!
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -7/+1Looks like one of those Ray Guy punts finally came back down...
- johnroth, on 10/12/2007, -12/+4I logged in just to dig your dumbass down. Your welcome!
^_^ - kmonihen, on 10/12/2007, -13/+5What moron thinks a meteor can only be seen in one town in one state?
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -9/+1AHHHHHHHHHH
CALL ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER! - fatham, on 10/12/2007, -12/+3@michaelschaaf: Best Comment Ever.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2Wow. Now videos that are well over 10 years old make it to the home page merely because of Cliffy's gaming?
Seriously...we need a good rule of thumb. Any video that predates the Clinton administration should not be submitted. And this does. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -13/+2Ahhh my public. Something is severely wrong if I collect too many diggs.

What is Digg?
