- koolaid123, on 11/13/2009, -0/+16I'm very happy to see that we are expanding into space. It is very interesting to think of how we are going to colonize space in 100 years.
- AdrenalineJunky, on 11/13/2009, -1/+15Well this may be a really stupid idea, but I think it would be cool if they "permanently" park the space shuttles at the ISS when they are finally retired. I'm sure there are all sorts of issues with doing that, but I just think it would be cool to use them for one last extended mission in space. Hey maybe someday they could land one of 'em on the moon and turn it into a diner ;-)
- allnuts, on 11/12/2009, -0/+10Was that an UFO appearing at 3:47 time frame passing from left lower to upper direction?
- shutaro, on 11/13/2009, -1/+10American components, Russian Components, ALL MADE IN TAIWAN!
- Super6, on 11/13/2009, -0/+9No, he's partially correct, the ISS was only planned to exist until 2012 or 2015 I believe, and that's what they engineered it to but now that it's truly international lots of countries aren't gonna want their stuff to fall into the ocean/burn up in the atmosphere so they're trying to extend the life.
- MacBookForMe, on 11/13/2009, -0/+7Red alert!
- kaidovak, on 11/13/2009, -1/+7that was the old station, Mir. That one burnt up a few years back.
- appleseed1234, on 11/13/2009, -0/+6If the last 35 years is any indication....
- Paranor01, on 11/13/2009, -0/+5Hopefully it won't be...
- appleseed1234, on 11/13/2009, -1/+5Good to see the Russian Space Agency is making an intelligent move by undocking their modules before we decommission the ISS so that they can be recycled and aren't wasted. It's so expensive to send ***** up to space, we might as well make it count when we do.
- ParaSwarm, on 11/13/2009, -1/+5Good to see a different side of Russia every now and then..
- rjbeckjr, on 11/13/2009, -0/+4Remember, no Russian.
- BossKey, on 11/13/2009, -0/+3In Soviet Russian module, automated dock parks you!
- BossKey, on 11/13/2009, -0/+3Besides, you never know when a decommissioned orbiting museum ship might come in handy during an alien invasion.
- mhearne, on 11/13/2009, -0/+2It looks to me like they are shutting the space programs down. What gives?
The intelligent people of this world really need to get off of this planet and leave it behind. It just can't continue to sustain us, with the population explosion and the number of people who have few usable skills.
There is little likelihood that there are any planetary bodies in this solar system that can be used, so we really need to be headed for the stars. Instead, we seem to have a lot of pipes in the sky that we call a space station, and a fleet of shuttles that really amount to satellite tenders rather than spacecraft.
It's been 60 or so years, so really, what gives?
- jaygeeze, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1It's a lot like Firefox, extensible.
- inactive, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1"It's been 60 or so years, so really, what gives?"
Looks like you've had 57 years to figure out a solution where is your contribution? - inactive, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1Half the world is still wiping their ass with their left hand, we need to modernize our own planet before we talk about colonizing space.
- jshhmr, on 11/13/2009, -0/+1The new module is a Pravda monitor, so the Russian astronauts can keep up with the latest "nothing bad to see here" news.
- oriondr, on 11/13/2009, -1/+1space.com... founded in part by Lou friggin' Dobbs, apparently :-|
- Ne007, on 11/13/2009, -3/+2I thought the space station was set to be scrapped....
- SuperKungFu, on 11/13/2009, -4/+1That picture reminds me of the scene from Modern Warfare 2
- martin987, on 11/13/2009, -6/+1In Soviet Russia, bad jokes digg you!
