Please provide objective, empirical evidence for your mythological characters, and that they were in any way involved in the formation of life on this planet.
"So this article backs up my guarantee..."
It does no such thing - no references to the supernatural are contained in this article. Further, the Phoenix lander was not specifically carrying instrumentation capable of detecting microbial life, but rather instruments capable of searching for environments suitable for microbial life. - stormofswords, on 11/18/2008, -0/+14"just be in contact with Jesus."
I'll go down to Little Mexico and see what Jesus has to say about life on Mars. - Mnementh2230, on 11/18/2008, -1/+12Epicurus:
Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent.
Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.
Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil?
Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God? - inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+10If frozen life discovered on Mars, microwave for 3 minutes.
- netneutrality, on 11/19/2008, -0/+7Exactly! God as portrayed in the Bible is a really jerky guy. He supposedly loves every one of us but if you disagree with him or piss him off he'll arrange to have you sent down to his little buddy Satan to burn in agony for eternity. If he's omnipotent he could shut down Satan's racket immediately, but you know he's just passing money under the table to him.
- ApokalypseNow, on 11/18/2008, -0/+6It is possible, but while the batteries will be chilled and less reactive, they will still lose some of their power between now and the spring, and it is uncertain if the solar panels will survive. Additionally, thus far things have continued to work because the batteries have constantly been kept warm due to their heater elements being powered. Without those heater elements online, the battery may be too cold even in the spring or summer on Mars to provide even a little power output to said heaters, in turn allowing more power out, in turn powering the heaters, in turn letting more power out, etc, until the whole system can come back up.
Given how long-lived and successful the Mars rovers have been, it is certainly possible that it could come back up (over-engineering for the win!), but I wouldn't hold my breath. - snotrokit, on 11/19/2008, -0/+5hey, you know Jesus too? Small world, had lunch with him and his brother Juan last week.
- starmanjones, on 11/18/2008, -0/+4love those bots... i'm placing bets that phoenix will phone home in the spring. it just needed a thumb to squish the sample into the oven i guess. sooner or later there will be thumbs on mars.
- stutimandal, on 11/18/2008, -0/+4Excessive cold on Mars, I guess.
- CCoe, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3Must.... make a joke.... about.... oven-cum-mass-spectrometer....
BUT I RESIST! - lynchjo, on 11/18/2008, -1/+4Now that Phoenix will be going into a coma, I think we can all agree this has been a success!!
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -2/+5Lies the real reason is lolcats don't want us to find there headquarters.
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+3The only life on Mars that I care about is what we should have done 20 years ago.
- AlienMushroom, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2maybe searching for death is a lot easier.
- Kanten, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2How about you know, we work on the propulsion technology and have people actually go there? There's only so much overly-sophisticated Legos can accomplish.
- Peekman, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Why do you even read these articles???
- qazws, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2Sandworms.
- datagod, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2What exactly do they plan to do with the life on Mars, once they discover it? Eat it? Turn it into bio-martian-diesel?
- Aeyar, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2To be blunt- Does it matter?
- JoeBob5606, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2does this have anything to do with last night's episode of Big Bang Theory? Howard got the rover stuck in a ditch.
- Aroundtheworls, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2It depends whether or not you care about who we are and why we are here.
Discovering evidence of life on Mars would show us that it doesn't happen just only under some uniquely perfect circumstances on Earth. It would validate the search for life on other planets, in other solar systems, and prove that we are not alone.
It would also diminish our perceived importance even further as we would then be just one small part of an infinitely large mechanism. - cughin, on 11/19/2008, -0/+2dugg for mars and technology and the future exploration of space,
@ jesus guy . aka. kenrayd buried for living in the past, photo or it didnt happen - SisyphusFragmnt, on 11/21/2008, -0/+2Jesus? Oh yea that guy does my lawn work, great kid!
- starmanjones, on 11/26/2008, -0/+1yes, i know all that. i think if the solar cells survive and aren't too mangled from the weight of the CO2 snow/ice that it has decent chance. it was built for cold. i think sudden changes in temperature are the worst thing that could happen and i don't think thats likely. but as it thaws there will be a place where its still covered and directly above the ice line will be somewhat warmer... expansion and contraction.
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -0/+1Oh great, another global warming denier.
- inactive, on 11/19/2008, -3/+3***** you. Two of my friends..... Oh ***** it.
- RaptorChrist, on 11/19/2008, -4/+4It's a God awful small affair
To the girl with the mousy hair
But her mummy is yelling, "No!"
And her daddy has told her to go
But her friend is no where to be seen
Now she walks through her sunken dream
To the seats with the clearest view
And she's hooked to the silver screen
But the film is a saddening bore
For she's lived it ten times or more
She could spit in the eyes of fools
As they ask her to focus on
Sailors
Fighting in the dance hall
Oh man!
Look at those cavemen go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the lawman
Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man!
Wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars?
It's on America's tortured brow
That Mickey Mouse has grown up a cow
Now the workers have struck for fame
'Cause Lenin's on sale again
See the mice in their million hordes
From Ibiza to the Norfolk Broads
Rule Britannia is out of bounds
To my mother, my dog, and clowns
But the film is a sadd'ning bore
'Cause I wrote it ten times or more
It's about to be writ again
As I ask you to focus on
Sailors
Fighting in the dance hall
Oh man!
Look at those cavemen go
It's the freakiest show
Take a look at the lawman
Beating up the wrong guy
Oh man!
Wonder if he'll ever know
He's in the best selling show
Is there life on Mars? - posaunepat, on 11/20/2008, -0/+0Why?
- smackydoodle, on 11/19/2008, -2/+1What made you think that was a good idea?
- dandonia, on 11/19/2008, -2/+1house rocks
- starmanjones, on 11/18/2008, -11/+1:D nice...
- kenrayd, on 11/18/2008, -23/+3Recall that various times since these Mars explorations have been going on that I guaranteed that no trace of life will be found on Mars because if God starts life on a planet, then He will finish the job as He did on earth (it was perfect paradise until mankind let the devil in). So this article backs up my guarantee and shows that one need not be a scientist to know the story, just be in contact with Jesus.
