- stachesnmullets, on 11/18/2008, -2/+31The surface of the moon almost looks like an angry sea. Stunning!
- IRAcarbombs, on 11/18/2008, -3/+16Black and white pics are the best
- kplo, on 04/01/2009, -2/+14kind of knocks the wind out of you, just looking at it.
- inactive, on 11/18/2008, -1/+13In the moon.
- roostersheep, on 01/16/2009, -1/+7Can anyone find this image before the restoration?
Edit: Never mind, I found it.

- Firefoot, on 11/18/2008, -2/+7Where's the man in the moon?
- Zeitgeister, on 11/18/2008, -2/+7Stunning image. I suppose there'll be more with all the moon missions planed for the near future
- GawtMilk, on 11/18/2008, -1/+6@RedRummy, the tapes were never meant for high-resolution stills; they were beamed out over radio waves back towards earth to make most of the images. However, a number of researchers got hold of the original tapes that "backed up" the transmission from inside the spaceship at a higher quality and re-scanned them.
- overridemymind, on 11/18/2008, -1/+6Beautiful pics, but you know the bad thing? I was discussing the landings with one of my coworkers today -- talking specifically about a video involving Buzz Aldrin punching a conspiracy theorist that called him "a liar, a coward, and a thief" -- two of my other, younger (age 19 and 20) coworkers blankly looked at me and asked "Who's Buzz Aldrin?" while another said, "Isn't that the guy from Toy Story?"
I thought they were joking -- but I had to explain it to them for about ten minutes. Unbelievable. - sagien, on 11/18/2008, -1/+5Sometimes, the human race saddens me.
- roostersheep, on 01/16/2009, -1/+5Yeah that had me stumped for a while, but it makes a lot more sense when you look at the full size version.

I have the high resolution version cropped and sized over the old one in photoshop, looks really impressive. - strangewill, on 11/18/2008, -1/+5Wrong, it's fake, we took it on Mars.
- RedRummy, on 11/18/2008, -2/+5That's no moon....
etc - Sornos, on 11/18/2008, -1/+4Beautiful Desolation.
- haydesigner, on 11/18/2008, -2/+5There's a view of Earth from Arizona?
- johnnysaucepn, on 11/18/2008, -2/+4Spell check WIN!
Grammar check FAIL! - jheimark, on 11/18/2008, -3/+5the pale grey dot.
- buschwacker, on 11/18/2008, -1/+3Inarguable have you ever used a camera to take a picture of a dark room with a bright window? That's the reason why no stars are visible in the pics in the linked video - the shutter of the camera can't stay open long enough to get a good pic of the earth and the faint stars. What is more likely, that we did actually go to the moon or that _everyone_ from the inception of the space program until the end of the Apollo missions in 1972 is part of a giant conspiracy?
- overridemymind, on 11/18/2008, -1/+3Is Buzz Aldrin gonna have to come to your door and knock you out?

Sorry, your post -- sarcasm or not reminded me of this awesome video. - Zippo, on 11/18/2008, -2/+3That must have been quite an awesome sight to see with your own two eyes. Incredible.
- FlyingPhotog, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2I'd love to see the shots they could get with today's DSLR's with HDR post-processing. Even the Hubble telescope has only a 1 or 2 megapixel camera on board.
- ToddsSpleen, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2Shouldn't it look more like a sea of tranquility? :)
- outofmir, on 11/18/2008, -2/+3PhotoShopped!!!!!!
The shadows are not consistent....
blah blah
/Sarcasm - RedRummy, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2how do they restore a picture like that? You can't add detail that isn't there right?
- Step1Mark, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2color is overrated.
- noizeuk, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2Last time I checked, "every" was a word.
- GawtMilk, on 11/18/2008, -2/+3Yeah, looking straight down.
- FastZ, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2Youtube is blocked here at work. What's the video about? Do they reveal that NASA has lied and that there really is no outer space?
- Princeamor, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2I don't like it because they photoshopped out the UFO's
- keozen, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2he came down too soon,
to ask his way to Norwich. - secrity, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2There are probably no stars because the scene was very blightly lit. If you are inferring that something "funny" is going on, I am sure that "they" would have thought to include some stars for you.
- secrity, on 11/18/2008, -1/+2Color has its uses, but b&w is better for many things.
- UselessTrivia, on 11/18/2008, -1/+1Secrity is right. That's a common item brought up by moon hoax conspiracy theorists. It's just a reality of photographic exposure. Stars have very faint light, and the earth and moon's surface are extremely bright in comparison. To get a good exposure of earth and moon, you need a short shutter speed, which doesn't give the faint stars enough time to make an impression on the film. If you increased the time the shutter remained open, the earth and moon would be solid white blobs, but you'd see some stars.
- UselessTrivia, on 11/18/2008, -1/+1And sometimes overSATUrated.
Sorry...I had to say it. - ketedford, on 11/19/2008, -1/+1I thought the moon was made of cheese...
- NotedFuturist, on 11/19/2008, -1/+1Do you have one really freaky sequin space suit, man?
Or do you have several ch-ch-ch-ch-changes? - ketedford, on 11/19/2008, -1/+1Oh my God! What happened to the other half of the earth!!
- betheturtle, on 11/18/2008, -2/+2You pointy nippled old perv.
- Polymathic, on 11/18/2008, -1/+1Well, it does demonstrate rather conclusively that NASA's public release imagery has been cropped and tampered with, so to answer your question, yes, it does show they are lying and hiding something. There certainly is no implication that there is "no outer space" though - quite the opposite in fact.
- decapsuleur, on 11/18/2008, -1/+1I can see David Bowie... in space !
- buffermaster, on 11/18/2008, -1/+1I could tell him - I am from Norwich!
- marioara, on 11/18/2008, -1/+1wow..this is impressive
- secrity, on 11/18/2008, -2/+2Didn't the Indian craft impact the moon at something like 3,000 MPH? The flag that they planted must have been "planted" in a very new, very deep crater.
- SawButter, on 11/18/2008, -1/+1I never said that the first step on the moon was completely faked.
They have anticipated a potential video transmission failure by doing a video recording in a studio and unfortunately, they had to use it to show the world the very first step on the moon. - divinediva, on 11/18/2008, -5/+5Historic images of Earth from space .
- pw378, on 11/18/2008, -1/+1The VAX was released on October 25, 1977, a little late for our Lunar missions.
They probably used PDP's at NASA during the Lunar exploration efforts. -
