- FaeR, on 08/19/2008, -1/+11Kind of ironic how the "proton" is "one of the biggest commercial satellites ever built".
- TVarmy, on 08/19/2008, -0/+7That's why it's not the Electron.
- thePTS, on 08/19/2008, -0/+6omg, you americans really have a hard time getting out of the Soviet / US showoff thing, don't you?
As far as I can tell, this is a commercial project, isn't it? - stutimandal, on 08/19/2008, -0/+5That satellite rocket looks formidable. * Shivers *
- jm1234567890, on 08/19/2008, -0/+4uh.. Proton is the rocket not the satellite
- nunquam, on 08/19/2008, -0/+4Where did the description pic come from? It looks badass lying sideways.
- inactive, on 08/18/2008, -2/+6oy i never knew it was in space. i have to start paying attention to the current news *hey wait a minute, that's what digg is for"
- battleangel7, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2Who is this "We" you are talking about?
"The I4-F3, operated by the UK-based Inmarsat company, will complete the firm's satellite broadband network." - amnezia22, on 08/19/2008, -0/+2What are you talking about? The satelitte is owned by a UK company.
- bentman78, on 08/19/2008, -1/+3Yaaaayy.
Because the Russians in the past and present have demonstrated they're the beacon of freedom, human rights and good intentions... - JQP123, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1NASA is the link that connects space with bombs and guns ... most of their budget is paid out to military/industrial contractors.
- BESTenemy, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1Beacon of freeom, like out allies in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Egypt?
/ Sarcasm - dsendecki, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1Did you just describe the Cold War as a "Soviet / US showoff thing"?
My university history professor would have loved you. - WELLDOITLIVE, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1Calm down guys, this isn't rocket science
- monkeynuts84, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1The UK!
- AndrewMoyer, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1I hope that this and all the other recent international developments fuels a second space race... it would be good for our economies and our morale. A little friendly competition never hurt anybody. It's sure better than showing off who has the bigger bombs and guns.

- Mootabolife, on 08/19/2008, -1/+1You must have misread.. its Pro-Ton.
- AndrewMoyer, on 08/19/2008, -0/+0The satellite was launched successfully.
(For those not wishing to click through the link.) - bentman78, on 08/19/2008, -2/+2I hope it hits your house...
- guhpol, on 08/19/2008, -3/+1Anyway to one Russian's biggest satellite USA have 10 big enough on the orbit..
- inactive, on 08/19/2008, -3/+1That would be nice, provided Bush and company were in the white house at the time. I'm sure an innocent 'miscalculation' on the part of the launch coordinator could bring this wonderful possibility to fruition.
- diggafrica, on 08/19/2008, -6/+4The Bear is back from hibernation! . amen!
- PimpinOnWelfare, on 08/19/2008, -4/+2Sputnik 2 anyone? We have been showing off on mars lately ...
- Intervene, on 08/19/2008, -7/+3Hopefully before it reaches orbit, it fails and ends up hitting the White House.
- monkeynuts84, on 08/19/2008, -5/+0Sad state of affairs - we condemn Russia expansionism but pay them to put our satellites in orbit!
