- Latka, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22I thought NiagAra Falls were one of the world's most famous water falls.
- scottylist, on 10/12/2007, -1/+20"Definitely one of the most amazingly beautiful things I have ever seen."
Until, of course, you see Foz de Iguacu in the border between Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay: http://viagemeturismo.abril.com.br/multimidia/imagens/papel/foz_1024.jpg - pjleonhardt, on 10/12/2007, -1/+14and where, sir, do you think satellites live?
- ponzudigital, on 10/12/2007, -0/+11Horseshoe Falls, in addition to American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls, is part of Niagara Falls.

Considering there are satellites (in space!) powerful enough to count the dimples on a golf ball...I'd say you're full of ***** in your presumption about roads, (and streets!) not to mention cars. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+10Niagara Falls is one of the most beautiful things I've had the pleasure of seeing.
- shakin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Since this is the second time it's been brought up I guess the record needs to be set straight. The Horseshoe falls (aka the Canadian Falls) are part of Niagara Falls.
At the top of Niagara Falls is Goat Island and the waterfall on the SW side of Goat Island are the Horseshoe Falls while the waterfall on the NE side are the American Falls (as well as the Bridal Veil Falls, which look like part of the American Falls, but are separated by a small bit of rock).
If you ever visit Niagara Falls, you should go to the Canadian side because it has a much better view of the falls as well as more tourist-type stuff to do. - nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@bobbknight:
That's the Canadian side of the Niagara Falls, also called the Horseshoe Falls. The entire group is called the Niagara Falls, the Canadian and American sides together. - Diggerr, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Some fantastic panoramas:

- ankyhbk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I live in Buffalo....Niagara Falls is like our backyard. The power of the Falls generates so much income in the otherwise economically struggling Western New York area. But all the tourists treat it like *****.
To answer your question, it's not a mall. The U.S. side of the border is garbage, but if you cross over into Canada - you have Casinos and Clubs and Restaurants galore. It's called Clifton Hill and it's great - always busy - nothing closes until 4am and even then - the party doesn't stop.
Cheers. - scatpack, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3NIAGRA FALLLLLS? Slowly I turned... step by step.. inch by inch...
(you are too young to understand) - leoedin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I love the falls, but I hate the place. Way too much commercial stuff going on there. Its just too north american for my liking.
- bruceharbin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3beautiful
- DevilDogs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That's what I thought, until I clicked one of the links above and it took me to spaceimaging.com. I doubt they would take a picture from "a few hundred feet" and claim it was from space. My guess is the IKONOS satellite (the one that took the picture) can just take that good of a picture.
- novaneil, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6One time Craig and I drove to Niagara Falls in the Nova. It was fun.
- Xtopherous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I can't believe you live 10 minutes from the Falls and don't even know what they are, I guess it's akin to people who've lived in NYC their whole life and have never visited the Statue of Liberty, etc.

It doesn't get more clear than that picture. American Falls on the left, then a very small gap (Luna Island), then the Bridal Veil Falls, then the large gap (Goat Island), then Horseshoe (Canadian) Falls. To experience it all, see the Falls from both sides and from Luna and Goat Islands. I also recommend the Maid of the Mist and the Cave of the Winds to get the full effect of the power and beauty of the falls. - underdog138, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/5c/Niagara_falls.jpg
Clearly there's two or three separate waterfalls here. - DevilDogs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I guess spaceimaging.com has it all wrong then?
- shakin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2If you live 10 minutes from the falls you should at least have basic knowledge of them. There are three waterfalls, but you've got them totally wrong. There are the Horseshoe Falls, American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. All three together are Niagara Falls (they are all falls from the Niagara river over the escarpment, separated by Goat Island at the top so they come down separately).
- captainsniz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I grew up there. Really miss it. The winter SUCKS but the summers and scenery are amazing. I've done some crazy things as a kid in those waters and in the gorge. We used to swim in the rapids off 3 sisters islands which is right before the American falls. Crazy when I think about it now. Also, Toronto which is about 45 minutes away is awesome. Thanks for the pics...
- Gatesophile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2That was actually really cool looking, I was expecting something lame.
- Lounger540, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I kind of prefer the view from the US side. There's a new casino there too, but you're right. It doesn't even compare to the Canadian side as far as attractions. Plus the 19 drinking age was great for the first few years at the University.
- ankyhbk, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Thee aren't two different sets of Falls. They are shared where the Niagara River ends between the U.S. and Canada. You may get a better VIEW of the Falls from the Canadian SIDE - but that part of your comment made no sense.
You should know better from living that close, like me. - nfph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1We get 1% of the revenue from the Power Authority. Hardly a (water)windfall. Nyuk, Nyuk.
- nofxjunkee, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Niagara falls are amazing to see in person. I grew up in southern Ontario and one time at the falls a bus driver told us that that morning a woman had killed herself jumping down the falls. Kind of creepy.
- CanceledCzech, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4Oh my god, it does. Guess what the surrounding land is.
But in all seriousness, it really is quite amazing. - form3hide, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1American side is not garbage. It's nature, it's preserved open space -- you get the feeling, on the American side, that you've randomly come across this water fall while walking through the woods.
The Canadien side, however, makes the falls seem almost man made. There's so much tourism on the Canada side. It's pretty sad, I wish it would've remained all open space.
The view, from the American side, is garbage compared to the Canadien side. On the American side, you're looking down on the falls, while on the Canadien side, you're looking up at it. - nfph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Naw, winter's actually the best time to go. The mist covers everything in ice, it's the most beautiful winter scene you'll ever see.

- z00k, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4You sir, have just made me see the most beautiful thing, ever.
-Zook - kittybit83, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1wow, seeing that it kinda took my breath away. and never having been there myself, i never realized that such 'civilization' was so close lol, what is that a mall? :P
- z0l0pht, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3Um... looks like a waterfall to me. Not sure the "whole new perspective" thing is doing it for me.
- billpoly, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I stand corrected and have been dugg down accordingly.
- geordie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There's actually three sets of falls..... The Canadian ( horseshoe ) falls, the American Falls and the Bridal Veil Falls
- Latka, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Nope, Foz de Iguacu > Niagara Falls
Don't try to compare if you haven't been in both places. Foz de Iguacu is much more amazing - alexkorova, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've only been to Foz de Iguacu, but I can tell you that it's amazing.
- amishjim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1heres some more winter pics

scatpack:3 stooges :D is 36 too young? - nerditup, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4one time I went to a motel and watched Skeletor beat Orangutan
- bobbknight, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Who ever found this has no clue what Niagara Falls is.
This is the Horseshoe Falls and I might add, it's mostly in Canada. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Am I the only one that read it as "Nigra falls from space?". Damn you 4chan for corrupting my mind!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0the best cataract matching the african victoria!!!
- robertgoodwin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I'm old enough... but you beat me to it. :)
- Alyre, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Trust me, when you live close to Niagara Falls the beauty of the falls tends to be blunted by the horror that is the city itself. That goes for both the canadian and american sides.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Eww, Yahoo Maps is gross
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1_WHAT_ did you say fell from space?!
- insub2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I believe Niagara Falls is the honeymoon capital of the world. it makes a little more sense now.
(yes, this is another stupid penis joke.) -
