Open Space on Astronomy Picture of the Day
apod.nasa.gov — Orbiting 400,000 kilometers above the Earth, the Moon slid into Earth's shadow to begin last week's total lunar eclipse. Of course the International Space Station (ISS) slides into Earth's shadow every 90 minutes, the time it takes it to complete one orbit at an altitude of about 400 kilometers.Astronomy Picture of the Day

- BigWilly08, on 02/29/2008, -1/+0That sucks. It was perfectly clear in Illinois :)
- N3tw0rk, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1The next Partial Lunar Eclipse will be on 2008 Aug 16.

The next Total Lunar Eclipse will be sometime in 2010. - enivid, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1Next time get on a plane our pilot did a full circle to show the moon to all passengers of the plane... we were 30000 feet closer too.
- OneLess, on 02/29/2008, -0/+6I'm such a slob...my screen is too dirty to make out anything in the video.
- fit4130, on 02/29/2008, -0/+7That's ***** gross.
- OneLess, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3Never mind, it's not quite as bad as that. The play speed was just screwed up; my monitor is pretty dusty though.
- scubaman5000, on 02/29/2008, -1/+11Here...this should help

- darklights, on 02/29/2008, -0/+0If I play the video, I get about 8 frames that dont seem any different to each other.
If I drag the little bar backwards & forwards, I can see the progress of the ISS. Weird.
- dddavids, on 02/29/2008, -0/+4What do you suppose the streak near the horizon is going the opposite direction from ISS? An airplane? I love the cars flashing all over the town!
- DaviDTC, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1UFO. Did you the see how fast it was going and the turn it made. Curious as to what that was also. It seemed to circle around the town and even at the end it was coming back around. There is another light just to the left of the tree at the start that is moving further away.
- qovneob, on 02/29/2008, -0/+0im not a photographer, and therefore probably wrong. but i think its a mirror image of the ISS at a different angle, the result of the fisheye lense
- av8eire, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1If you read the text below the picture, it said it was an airplane.
- kalydoscopeeyes, on 02/29/2008, -5/+0Awesome.

- theferno, on 02/29/2008, -4/+1you can't make money with astronomy so it's pointless
- Niallgriff, on 02/29/2008, -0/+3You don't make money by having friends, drinking beer, eating well or having sex, does that mean those things are pointless also?
- dexedrine, on 02/29/2008, -0/+1I'm not sure if this is the proper forum for a 'Pic of the Day' of anything....
- ayledi, on 02/29/2008, -0/+0Did anyone else notice the falling object on the left side of the tree?
