- The0, on 03/13/2008, -4/+57Yep. Definitely a penis.
- juneof44, on 03/13/2008, -1/+46That smoke trail is showing the cloud who's boss. Giggity.
- inferno10, on 03/13/2008, -0/+30I think this one is better, since it's exposed better and includes people for perspective: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3224/2327255182_5ba ...
- inactive, on 03/13/2008, -2/+25im sick of hdr, everyone needs to stop obsessing over it.
- skateboard1, on 03/13/2008, -0/+23Nice pic. The rocket cam was disappointing at night. As soon as the boosters were dropped the image went black.(Even in HD)
- DeskFlyer, on 03/13/2008, -2/+19LOLAUNCH
- Brian48216, on 03/13/2008, -3/+18HDR only works when you make three separate exposures. It wouldn't work with a scene that has any movement.

via http://digg.com/space/Spectacular_Liftoff_of_NASA_ ... - Aidenf77, on 03/13/2008, -0/+11I have no idea what you're looking at, but this is a rocket launch at night.
- peterkay, on 03/13/2008, -0/+10Here's the HD video of it - http://www.vimeo.com/776280
You can see the trail at the very end. - Railz, on 03/13/2008, -2/+10NASA is the last thing I consider wasted.
- HiKevinRose, on 03/13/2008, -0/+8"Houston, we have penetrated the clouds."
- inactive, on 03/13/2008, -6/+14its looks fake and ridiculous
- dsgamer, on 03/13/2008, -0/+8I salute you!
- makkaveli19, on 03/13/2008, -0/+7The way that the rocket penetrated the clouds was mesmerizing.
- dustin32, on 03/13/2008, -0/+7One of the winningest comments to ever grace Digg (IMHO).
- inactive, on 03/13/2008, -2/+9The caption I thought of was "Science ***** God in the ass"
- Brian48216, on 03/13/2008, -0/+6To bring some perspective on how bright that launch was,
The exif data has the iso speed at 400, f/6.3, with a shutter speed of 1/60.
Considering how hard it is to capture anything in low light, and how much detail managed to be captured, this picture really doesn't convey how bright that launch is. - cl2yp71c, on 03/13/2008, -0/+6Now this is a picture worth digging.
- duk0r, on 03/13/2008, -0/+6Yeah Baby!
- inactive, on 03/13/2008, -0/+6Austin Powers FTW!
- Spuy767, on 03/13/2008, -0/+5HDR invariably looks like someone ***** up the color on your TV set.
- flashpointbob, on 03/13/2008, -1/+5I like how the ducks are just chilling and watching the shuttle launch.
- UKsHaDoW, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3Its not real HDR though. The amount the real exposuer is set by the aperture, and shutter speed.
You can't magically re adjust that afterwords. Setting the exposuer in raw will not get the detail in the light/dark areas as well as 3 different real exposures. - topace3000, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3Actually this launch is the one that's supposed to add the most useful stuff yet to the ISS.
- Cloud7659, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3Good, so I'm not insane.
- UKsHaDoW, on 03/13/2008, -0/+3Depends if its done right, HDR is ment to get detail in both light and dark areas, instead people make the photos look weird.
- sgtbutterscotch, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2whoa, this is much better. should've submitted it.
- CazMo, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2He probably watches Bill O-Reily more than he does american idol., and also.. he said "useful stuff" because your original comment said "Anything useful?"
Again, your blind arrogance makes you look like a jackass. - INDOAZZ, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2Firefox Skin update
- supersam, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2But wheres the lens glare and HDR!
- Yetisquatch, on 03/13/2008, -1/+3This is what happens when you introduce portals and tornadoes in the land of sepia.
- diggit83, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2The only thing I could say when I read your post was
"Wow...what a dick" - cybermerge, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2very nice, you only get one chance for a photo like that
- RogerStrong, on 03/13/2008, -1/+3You can always go back to watching American Idol.
- cipicip, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2Awesome! Keep it... up?
- anareric, on 03/13/2008, -1/+3It looks like ET trying to phone home
- DeadFox1, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2that is one long skinny penis.
- rodbotic, on 03/13/2008, -3/+5you only see what you subconsciously want to see.
I saw column of smoke from the space shuttle. - tacojohn, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2You call that HD? Maybe in a youtube world it is...
- jazzboyrules, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2You CAN make an HDR if the original format of this pic is/were in RAW format. But you don't see the actual brilliance of an HDR unless you have nice sun-lit as well as shadowy areas in the composition. In this pic, you see that most of the pixels are bottom-saturated to RGB:000. HDR won't help anything with those areas and such black areas will stand out as patches in the resultant HDR.
- peterkay, on 03/13/2008, -1/+3Not as phallic as the video - http://digg.com/space/Night_Launch_Gorgeous_Video
- catachip, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2I was working at KSC last summer and saw the Endeavour launch from about 2 miles away. I couldn't even look at it as it was lifting off the ground, there was just this bright, white light.
- oneofone2007, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2I was lucky enough to see a night launch a few years back before we lost Columbus, there truly spectacular.
- id10, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2it's not big enough to make it my desktop background
- dougerdo, on 03/13/2008, -0/+2I watched this on Tuesday on HDNET in full 1080. It was beautiful.
- deuceswilde, on 03/13/2008, -1/+3You can make an HDR with a single RAW image file
