- syrinx1993, on 11/12/2009, -0/+6The center of the galaxy generally lies in the direction of Sagittarius
- Bluepaper, on 11/12/2009, -0/+5I've been there before.
You really need to take a step (or two) back to really appreciate it. - Qazerr, on 11/12/2009, -0/+5Oh god, i can see forever D:

Where is the middle of the galaxy, relative to us? I know we're on a spinning ball out on one of the spiral arms and all, but certainly you should be able to look up into the sky and say "well, that constellation is there... And that one is there... So the center of our galaxy is over in that direction there", no? - phriend2spin, on 11/12/2009, -0/+4Too bad the naked eye can not see those colors in space. Image is enhanced for your pleasure ;)
- beetrixi, on 11/12/2009, -0/+4***** spectacular!
- AmnesiacJack, on 11/12/2009, -0/+3Not until we have Robot Eyes (and ears).
- Kungfumantis239, on 11/12/2009, -0/+3Yep, and the reason you can't see it is because of all the dust around the galactic center. Blocks the light from our view.
- RadiatedAnt, on 11/12/2009, -2/+4I just can´t appreciate any colored auras of tripped out koolaid in space, heres why! If you were to view this cosmic space with your own eyes all you would see is the glowing light of the burning stars, we can´t see gamma rays, infrared, x rays whichever radiation. Nasa paints everything in order to interpret something physical, I´m not saying it doesnt exist but we´ll never really see it.

The effort allows a tremendous amount of data to be grasped in one glorious, mouth-watering photo. Spitzer investigated the nuget (red in the final image). Chandra captured the milk chocolate (blue and violet in the final image). And the Hubble looked at the scrumptious caramel (yellow in the final image). Delicious! - Joshislong, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2I'm pretty sure the entire point of this article was to show the stuff we can't see.
- rrife, on 11/12/2009, -0/+2That's my new wallpaper.

because that's what it is. The dust and debris still hasn't settled since the big bang. - smokinDND, on 11/12/2009, -4/+3looks like god's hand to me.
