- MrSalty, on 08/29/2008, -0/+20It's an even bigger disgrace that something like 1 in 5 Americans think it never happened.
- TFGeditor, on 08/28/2008, -0/+11What an astonishing photograph! Just contemplating the excitement of being in that lander is a rush in itself. What a rush!
- inactive, on 08/29/2008, -0/+6Don't feel too bad - I imagine you could take any wacky conspiracy theory you like, no matter how outlandish and stupid, and you'll find that 20% of Americans believe it. Then again, it is really insulting to trivialize the efforts of these guys who risked their lives for the sake of discovery.
- Erectile, on 08/29/2008, -2/+7Didn't we go a fair few times? 12 people have set foot on the moon if I remember correctly.
- qster, on 08/29/2008, -1/+6That is an awesome photo.. but it really looks like it's made from a cardboard box, tin foil and washing up liquid bottles.
- Theoxenmooving, on 08/29/2008, -1/+6One of the most beautiful machines ever created.
- FulcrumVitesse, on 08/29/2008, -2/+6That moonshot was the greatest adventure mankind has ever had. It's a disgrace that we haven't been back since.
- Andrwmorph, on 08/29/2008, -0/+4And to think, my cell phone has like 1000x the processing power of its computers.
- Haecceity, on 08/29/2008, -0/+4Whoosh!
- PirateNamedNeo, on 08/29/2008, -0/+3Its a shame anyone could think for even a minute you could pull off a stunt of landing on the moon once, much less 7 times (think my #'s are correct) For one, how are you going to keep the ones who have to know quiet? If I was Buzz Aldren I think I would make a lot more money by telling the press it was a hoax.... that in itself has me convinced that man has landed on teh moon, to prove them all wrong lets take the non believers to the moon to see some 7 american flags stuck in the dirt!!
- Hedgecore, on 08/29/2008, -0/+3Amazing. This would have been right before Armstrong righted the LM and took it down to the surface. They landed with barely 15 seconds of fuel remaining after flying low over craters and fields of boulders and only spent just over 2 hours outside of the LM on the surface. Everything from the gold foil down is still up there in the Sea of Tranquility. (And no, not even the Hubble Space Telescope can peep the landing site...)
If you guys don't know much (or anything) about the moon landings, by all means check 'em out. In The Shadow of the Moon is a great documentary on it. These were moments that make ya proud to be human. For all the ***** America gets these days, this was America The Good at it's finest. Under a unified world, it gave us hope. - DragoonWraith, on 08/29/2008, -0/+3[citation needed]
- t3rmv3locity, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2Dammit! I thought this was a fake photo from the Mythbusters Moon Landing episode...
Lemme know when one of those hits the FP... - PirateNamedNeo, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2You're so fake
- GT35R, on 08/30/2008, -0/+2Yeah right whatever. You've convinced yourself that because the US Govt. is responsible for the moon landing that they could have easily lied about it.Why is it no one in the Apollo program has come out and admitted it? Not one! You cant silence everyone.
You living in Disneyland now. - GT35R, on 08/30/2008, -0/+2The astronauts were flown through a thing section of the Van Allen radiation belt if that is what you are implying. They took a risk and they survived. Stop being a pussy and admire them.
- ASSASSYN360, on 08/28/2008, -1/+3We probed the moon good.
- DragoonWraith, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1That hydrogen is very common isn't very surprising if you understand how the elements were formed.
Also, Martian soil is quite a bit unlike any soil found on Earth. It's mostly rust dust, which you might find small patches of where some machinery has been allowed to corrode on Earth, but to my knowledge there are no places with substantial natural iron oxide deposits.
(I could be wrong, I've just never heard of such a thing) - SecureXeC, on 08/29/2008, -1/+2Yea.. We've been back to the moon several times.
- bstew22, on 08/29/2008, -2/+3photosho....ah ***** it.
- EnjoyTheFact, on 08/29/2008, -2/+3Sarcasm is illegal on Digg apparently.
- deanoplex, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1Corrugated foil is pretty close to what it is made out of. Russia used the 'cast-iron bathtub' method.
- MrSalty, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1Wait ... what if we didn't go to the moon because that's where God lives?
I think I'm on to something. I'm going to go start a cult! I welcome suggestions for a name. Moonies is taken. How about the Lunies? - chevyorange, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1Its bright in space, moron. There's this thing called the "sun" since you seem so unfamiliar with it.
- SteveSgt, on 08/29/2008, -1/+2Sarcasm and irony do not Digg well.
- DragoonWraith, on 08/29/2008, -1/+1Indeed. At this point, there's really not a lot left for us to DO there. The moon is a pretty simple object.
- georgek421, on 12/03/2008, -0/+0Yep, this is a photoshop job if I've ever seen one.
http://iwanttobuywrinklecream.com - DragoonWraith, on 08/29/2008, -1/+1Believing that the moon landing is a hoax is more reasonable than believing in Intelligent Design, at least.
Not that either is a reasonable belief. Both have monumental amounts of evidence going against them, making both 'possibilities' ludicrously unlikely. - DooM, on 08/29/2008, -1/+1BAD sarcasm is.
- PirateNamedNeo, on 08/29/2008, -1/+1if not mistaking this is the shot of the lunar module that was shot upside down ...... but what I really wanted to say is don't you think it interesting the more we learn about the other planets the more 'universal' everything seems? water is everywhere, rocks are iron and other regardless where you go, hydrogen is one of the more common elements in the universe, and Mars has soil that could be in your own back yard, cept it is a bit higher on the ph scale. Adds to the notion everything is the same where ever you go.... just a thought
- Xondar, on 08/31/2008, -1/+1I've seen quite a few 'shopps in my time, and I can tell by the pixels blah blah blah whatever.
- inactive, on 08/29/2008, -4/+4I've seen an eagle before, that's NOT an eagle.
- therocksays, on 08/29/2008, -2/+1Photoshopped
- Sharky35, on 08/29/2008, -2/+1Change,
- Shakermaker, on 08/29/2008, -3/+2Wow, you can barely see the wires holding it up!!
:P - Shakermaker, on 08/29/2008, -4/+3I have to agree with jordan1 that you are suffering from a condition known as "no brains in your ***** head, moron", combined with a severe case of "not reading the ***** caption".
- the6thReplicant, on 08/29/2008, -4/+2But but..how can you photograph the moon lander flying through space. What did the astronaut do? Jump out to get a photograph and then jumped back in! This is obvious proof that the moon landings were fake. I'm sure of this because I'm smarter than any one at NASA.
- jordan1, on 08/29/2008, -4/+2you are an idiot:
Michael collins was flying the Command and Service module while the other two were in the Lunar module...Collins took the picture. - JayKris, on 08/29/2008, -12/+4Cool. I like the way the studio lights reflect off the shiny aluminium foil.
- Sinudeity, on 08/29/2008, -12/+2That photo is so fake :/
