- moger777, on 04/15/2009, -11/+131Not only did NASA not name the space station after him, they did not even name it after any of the names that were on the poll. What a bunch of douches. Why even have a poll, let alone a vote if they were not going to name it after one of the items in the poll.
***** NASA - inactive, on 04/15/2009, -4/+93The Combined Operations load-Bearing External Resistance Treadmill - COLBERT!
- mrblack927, on 04/15/2009, -4/+77In case you haven't noticed, this is how the whole government works.
They can give you "votes" all day long but in the end they always get what they want. - jeffstevens199, on 04/15/2009, -3/+61NASA wussed OUT!
- whitesmoke33, on 04/15/2009, -4/+43a treadmill...hmm
at least me made a good run for it. - bulls414, on 04/16/2009, -2/+18and ***** the RIAA
- Julie188, on 04/15/2009, -0/+16For a comedian, a treadmill is probably as good as space station ... does this mean the joke's on him?
- lostpunisher, on 04/16/2009, -4/+18WTF?! They picked the 8th most popular name? They can send a ***** hunk of steel into space but can't accept a freaking vote? ***** communists!
- bjenidles, on 04/15/2009, -3/+17Canadian Mirror: http://watch.thecomedynetwork.ca/the-colbert-repor ...
- Sil369, on 04/16/2009, -7/+19i vote u shut up
- muleskinner, on 04/16/2009, -3/+15and ***** you for trying to vandalize a Wiki page. I hate stupid ***** who do childish ***** like that.
- lansuggs, on 04/16/2009, -1/+12You could say he jogged NASA's memory to uphold democracy.
- Anand999, on 04/16/2009, -0/+10By "piss off in a big way", do you mean bitch about it on the Internet and then forget about it the next day?
- cowsgonemadd3, on 04/16/2009, -3/+13It was never going to be a ship.
- gdo01, on 04/16/2009, -2/+12The layers of satire are mindboggling. Colbert is doing this to show the stupidity of mob rule which some fans are satirically embracing in order to further Colbert's point. At the same time, there are people who don't get the satire and just are doing whatever Colbert says because its a "fun thing to do." Others will defend themselves from attack by saying it is all satire while others will say the satire is in people getting riled up about this will others will be genuinely riled up. Argh!!!!
- skillet, on 04/16/2009, -0/+9Apparently NASA used the BCS computers to help determine which name to choose.
- analogkid01, on 04/16/2009, -0/+9Uhh, his "actual audience" was laughing his ass off while watching the rerun this afternoon. I thought it was wimpy of NASA, sure, but they covered their ass in a brilliant way.
- joe1212, on 04/16/2009, -0/+8Maybe now people will realize that they never really had a say to begin with?
- directedition, on 04/16/2009, -0/+7I just like the ending clip from The Jetsons, and the idea of an open-ended treadmill thousand of feet in the air.
- Animan351, on 04/16/2009, -1/+8Those ***** ***** ***** woulding even go with the second place Serenity that started on their list?! well ***** those ***** then!
- RATNIK, on 04/16/2009, -0/+7No more internet polls for NASA
- Laminarcissus, on 04/16/2009, -1/+8I vote we shoot Ron Paul into space.
- Mtown, on 04/15/2009, -3/+8OH SNAP
- MaxxusFlamus, on 04/16/2009, -0/+5I dont' think Colbert has ever actually gotten anything named after him via poll.
That hungarian bridge didn't work out for him either. I dont' think his audience really gives half a ***** what gets named after him. They do this for the same reason that 4chan games polls. for the lolz - manitoba98xp, on 04/16/2009, -0/+5It's "Tranquility".
- CVL4317, on 04/16/2009, -0/+4"Sorry, i gonna need to use colbert for my daily exercise before sleep."
- iritegood, on 04/16/2009, -0/+4Why is he getting dugg down? It's not a space ship.
- ONeilcool, on 04/16/2009, -1/+5.
- Sil369, on 04/16/2009, -1/+4what? did u say run around and scream colbert's name down the street? ok i'll do that
- flaminglips, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3Orrrrr.... we GET the satire and we realize that it's all in good fun. I don't think he's doing this other than because of the simple fact that he can.
- dizavin, on 04/16/2009, -4/+7I'm amazed that they named *anything* after colbert.
- FurtThePirate, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3They're probably saving serenity for something bigger.
- inactive, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3BOOO PUNS!
- ripple123, on 04/16/2009, -3/+6this is precisely the lack of balls that one has come to expect from nasa.
- DredPir8Robrts, on 04/16/2009, -0/+3Who da man? You da man.
- workfaster, on 04/16/2009, -2/+5Tranquility? What happened to "Battle Toad"?
- Paulish, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2Maybe this is related to the joke Colbert made about how the monkeys were selected "democratically".
- MaxxusFlamus, on 04/16/2009, -1/+3cuz you know....strapping yourself onto a pile of explosives and firing yourself 300 miles into the cold vaccum of space is for pussies.
- inactive, on 04/16/2009, -1/+3hey, now you're starting to understand how government works.
- Krumm, on 04/16/2009, -0/+2There were rumblings on Slashdot that Serenity could be tied up with legal / MPAA issues.
Not sure if it's true or not, but they just ignored the poll completely, which is a sucky move however you slice it. - ryan83189, on 04/16/2009, -3/+5But can you run from crysis on it?
- geesamba, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1All contests like this have fine print that states something along the lines of "we reserve the right to be the final judge on the name" etc, etc. Relax. It's just a contest done in good fun. A contest's job is to drum up PR which the Colbert Nation did in full force. A huge swath of young folks got interested (if only on a small level) in their mission. That's a big win for NASA no matter how you slice it.
Besides, Digg users will forget about this in exactly 42 minutes when the next RIAA story pops up. - jgubbe, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1That video of the treadmill dance is hilarious!
It was posted underneath the main video. - leeloo200, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1Yes, let's.
- razorc03, on 04/16/2009, -1/+2BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
- ruforealz, on 04/16/2009, -1/+2Dude this is awesome... Colbert tried to have his way with them and they bitchslapped/honored him back.
- BrianD2, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1http://www.instantrimshot.com/
- spinky342, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1NASA loses 300 internets
- guinpen, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1So.. why was there a poll again?
- stonebear, on 04/16/2009, -0/+1This entirely in line with Colbert's shtick. Either some NASA big shot "gets" Colbert, or Colbert set it up himself.
