- sockpuppets, on 10/11/2007, -5/+43I'm hoping earth develops intelligent life soon.
- crackerjack, on 10/11/2007, -4/+24I'm afraid I can't do that, Dave.
- Bender1012, on 10/11/2007, -0/+17I'm definitely pulling for Titan to come out on top of the "places that might have life" race.
- Eryin, on 10/11/2007, -5/+19I for one welcome our new low frequency radio wave overlords
- xodee48, on 10/11/2007, -3/+16Now we have somewhere to put the whales so the Japanese cant get to them.
- TheThestral, on 10/11/2007, -5/+18Its probably infested with Wampas.
- thecompkid, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13I never thought I would say this, but you should have stuck with something like...
In soviet russia, titan signals YOU.
or,
All your moons are belong to us.
or,
In Soviet Russia, Chuck Norris would hit YOU with a hammer if he had pics to prove you live in your mom's basement.
You still would get buried, of course. - Micktion, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12Titan was featured in Arthur C Clarke's 2010 & 2061 books. He talks about oceans under the ice and life forms swimming about in the ocean. At one stage a craft that had landed on the surface to replenish its water supply from a fissure in the ice gets attacked by a fast moving plant like creature that gets a bit hyper about the lights on the space craft.
I have also read at one stage that NASA was considering sending a probe to Titan, to land on its surface then heat itself to sink through the ice and then swim around in search of life. - Junkyarddawg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9Same here. Abandon the ISS, skip the pointless moon base, and go straight for the jugular: Mars, Europa, Titan.
- Junkyarddawg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Titan will have to speed up a lot to win that race. The jovian moon Europa is known to have liquid water, and trace amounts of methane in the atmosphere, and methane under those conditions is a biomarker gas. I'd rate the probility of life on Europa to be considerably higher than the probability of life on Mars, which in turn is waaaaay ahead of Titan.
- youdlike2know, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7you're ideas intrigue me.. do you have a newsletter i could sign up for? or a compound I could visit?
- burntfire, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9*insert witty comment referencing "2010" and Europa here*
- JJVH, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6All these worlds are yours except Europa. Attempt no landings there.
- gmc74, on 10/11/2007, -4/+9i would guess swampass
- jefffm, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5@owdenbowden
no, those were womp rats. - Tenlow, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8I'm waiting for people to stop thinking "life" is only possible in an earth like environment. Just because we cant survive there doesnt mean nothing can. If we haven't found all the life on our planet what makes you think we can rule out life on any other planet?
- Junkyarddawg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Nope. You're confuddling Titan with Europa.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4My God it's full of stars....
- BrettJB, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Whew! Glad this is on Titan then. We don't want to go pissing off the monolith people...
- Heterochromia, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2They were sulphur based Life forms weren't they? and they moved like sloths?
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3mrtinker is right, we need one like the Transformers trailer.. with a big ass monolithic shadow bearing over it? That'll shut up the skeptics.
- Heterochromia, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3I say it's the old ones... They've come across millions of years of space and time to watch over our planet and invade our minds with psychic energy in the form of radio waves.
Cthulu lies awake; Dreaming.
Dagon watches us from the Icy Abyss. - wonderchemist, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I like to imagine there is life somewhere based on 'reverse-phase' chemistry. Where organics (methane/ethane) are the solvent instead of water.
- jjremy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Titans!
- OwdenBowden, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Not a problem. I used to shoot Wampas in Beggars Canyon.
- arunforce, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2No need to go to Titan for that. I got some right here! ;)
- MrTinker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Looking at that article, here's a question: why do all space mission visualizations suck?
- Kikinou, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cryobot
Let's lobby congress to get on the ball for this. I'm 33 and before I die, I want to see a manned mission to Mars and this robotic exploration of Europa. - Konrad9, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Wampas look bigger than 2 meters.
- beststrollers, on 05/18/2008, -0/+1http://www.radio-cd.com/radioshack7inone/radiosign ...
- rouslan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I doubt it considering this: http://costofwar.com/
- 0crabby0, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Arthur C. Clarke + Titan = Imperial Earth
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_Earth - Junkyarddawg, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Sortof, yeah. It's got surface lakes of methane, and methane rain. The surface is mainly water ice, which is hard as glass at that temperature.

elevator shoes
Turn any shoes into height increase elevator shoes. - tcopeland1234, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0There's a slightly earlier article here:
http://infoether.com/~tom/tnr/titan.html
Mostly the same information, though. - invisiblesun, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3nobody's going to mention kurt vonnegut's sirens of titan? (i know by saying this someone has probably beaten me to it)
- RTEREX1, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Is titan the moon made from Methane???
- MariusAgricola, on 10/11/2007, -2/+2Alas, that was my first thought as well. Good thing I searched for 'sirens' on the page before commenting :)
- JE255J, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1It was the first thing I thought of; that's for sure. I just didn't know what to say in regards to it.
"Yes, but are there Sirens at the bottom?", is the best I could think of, and I didn't know if it was all that good. - themaskedsquid, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0nice! so now all we need to do is find some titanic peat. although perhaps salo took it all with him when he left. or maybe he ate all the titanic bluebirds as well...
- Johnny100Pesos, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Of course they won't find life there.
When my great grampa was a kid, there were stories about life on the moon, according to HG Wells. Wrong.
When my grampa was a kid, there were stories about life on Mars and Venus, visited by John Carter. Wrong.
When my pa was a kid, there were stories about life being formed in test tubes. Wrong.
When I was a kid, there were stories about life on Vulcan and other solar systems. Sorry, but probably wrong there too.
The more desperate we are to find life on other worlds, the less likely we are to find it. We have no idea how life arose on this world, but we have enough understanding of physics and biology to realize that life is too complex to have arisen by purely natural processes.
Life on Titan? Wrong. - Grok22, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1The Sirens of Titian?
- Heterochromia, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1In the ocean, deep down
Under raging waves, wrapped in memories, you'll find
Wrecks of stately ships, they all went astray
Captain, did you find
Land of Mu, Eldorado for the seaman?
Or did you sink in dreams (and) lose your ship
In the Sirens' symphony?
When the sailman's sailing away
He shows that the dream of Lemuria is true
A land lost he will find again
Hear the call from the depth of the anemone song
Do you dare to enter the ship?
Hear the call from below of an underwater world
Land of Mu is close to the stars
In the arms of the sea you will live as hypnotized - zfanatic, on 10/11/2007, -3/+1It's only the end of the world again
Down by the ocean
The frogmen are surfacing but,
The beast beneath the skin has been
Whispering, wondering
Wondering, whispering - Gegius, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0Mogs live!!!
- Jhiaxuz, on 10/11/2007, -4/+1Only later they realized it was Earth all along, and that monkeys have taken over!
- Nedlog23, on 10/11/2007, -3/+0*Real* pics or it didn't happen.
- CiXeL, on 10/11/2007, -5/+1flame wookies!
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -6/+2my guess is mynocks.
