- FeloniusMonkey, on 05/26/2009, -1/+18Seriously, man! I looked up in the sky and saw the sun, and said to my self, "DAYUM! I can't believe dat sh*t is 93 million miles away! Science be all hibbidy bibbidy!"
- InMSWeAntitrust, on 05/26/2009, -2/+12Here's lookin' at you, babe.
๏̯͡๏﴿ - CaptNemo, on 05/26/2009, -2/+9WTF "eight terra-yotta-kilograms"??? That's not a SI unit nor it is even a correct way to use prefixes. Dumbass metric user.
Let me help- 12.23314425523^26 lbm - Dreeon, on 05/26/2009, -3/+10It's a great feeling to live in this day and age where we are able to see things millions of miles away and work to discover some of the secrets of the universe.
- felman87, on 05/26/2009, -2/+7Goatse?
- JimmyRyan, on 05/26/2009, -0/+3c'mon that was pretty good. lol
- EarlOfLade, on 05/26/2009, -1/+4It's not feasible because of the field of view.
You need wide-area telescopes when looking for NEO's. If not, it's like watching life through a pin-hole. - inactive, on 05/26/2009, -1/+4My zodiac sign is at the center of our galaxy AND home to one of the largest black holes known. My sign is kick ass, go Archers!
- CaptNemo, on 05/26/2009, -1/+4Do you say that to other scientists or do you just accept their previous incorrect information (like the Earth is the center of the solar system)?
- aaron552, on 05/26/2009, -0/+3yes
- Jascol, on 05/26/2009, -0/+2They're not trying to see what's inside it. They're looking around it for proof of it's existence, and to tell other things about our galaxy.
- Recoil, on 05/26/2009, -1/+3*whispers* "Super massive black hooole..."
- ssjtoma, on 05/26/2009, -0/+2awesome emoticon
- stonebear, on 05/26/2009, -1/+3It gets better: The arrow of Sagittarius points directly at the black hole, as does the stinger of Scorpio and the scale of Libra. Ophiuchus' right leg is buried almost up to the knee in it. The lesser constellation Centaurus is throwing his javelin directly at the black hole, and the shield constellation of Scutum is facing it directly as well.
Do you suppose someone is trying to tell us something? - leif777, on 05/26/2009, -1/+3If you look into the abyss long enough...
- LocalDocal, on 05/26/2009, -0/+2http://curious.astro.cornell.edu/question.php?numb ...
Technically speaking, the answer is dependent on what black hole/neutron star you're referring to, but I'm guessing it's 'no' in most cases. - cptmichael101st, on 05/26/2009, -1/+2Glaciers melting in the dead of night...
- amitforu78, on 05/26/2009, -2/+3Great news.........

- gamepr0, on 05/26/2009, -1/+2...and the superstars sucked into the supermassive
- ripple123, on 05/26/2009, -1/+2yknow, youd think that 4 million solar masses in a single point would leave a scratch on the fabric of space time as it moved over it.
- CaptNemo, on 05/26/2009, -0/+11.1400526878e+38 lbm (actual mass BTW (+/- a few sextillion))
- GreenNoise, on 05/26/2009, -1/+2Are black holes more dense than neutron stars?
- doingallright, on 05/26/2009, -1/+2gawd
- Cameleopard, on 05/26/2009, -1/+2I'm fine with being dugg down, but on matters of fact I would appreciate a response in accompaniment indicating where I went wrong. The claims above my comment are quackery; by all means prove me wrong.
- Cameleopard, on 05/26/2009, -1/+2Hunab Ku did not exist prior to the conquest of Mexico by the Spaniards. Hunab Ku means "only god" and seems to be an attempt by Spanish conquerors at a syncretic linking of the Christian god with a preexisting Mayan god, Itzamna.
You appear to be getting your piffle from "The Mayan Factor: Path Beyond Technology" by José Arguelles (also author of "Dreamspell: The Journey of Timeship Earth 2013", haha), am I right? He pulled the stuff about Hunab Ku from his ass, it simply doesn't conform with Mayan mythology at all.
And lastly, I can find nothing indicating "hu b'ble" meaning "gate of god" anywhere, so it would seem you're either making that up or getting it from another "interesting" source of similar caliber to Arguelles' writings. - inactive, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1I get turned on by big space stuff anyway but this story got me really ooo ooo .
- archiesteel, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1If you're talking about the actual singularity, then yes, since a black hole has infinite density.
If you're talking about the Schwarzschild radius, then probably, but I have to say I don't know for sure. - CaptNemo, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1Why did I hear Professor Farnsworth's voice when reading the parent???
- Trigonometron, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1I wonder if it is possible that some people didn't happen to look at the front page yesterday, or within whatever window you'd like to supply.
- DarkCloud515, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1So we should 'reply' the news from yesterday? Since, ya'know, not everyone looked at the front page yesterday.
- archiesteel, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1Well, it's true there's a Starbucks everywhere... :-P
- inactive, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1 I hear if you stare into it, and say Bloody Mary three times, it will suck your eyeballs out.
- damnshoes, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1I've got you babe.
- PandaBearShenyu, on 05/26/2009, -0/+1Bizzaro humans staring back.
- stonebear, on 05/26/2009, -1/+2The ancient Mayans worshiped this thing as their supreme god; Hunab Ku. One wonders how they were aware of it. They even knew it both creates and destroys the stars of our galaxy. And they certainly believed it is staring back. They also believed themselves to be citizens of the galactic center; a caste of technologists who were strangers on earth.
An interesting aside: "hu b'ble" means "gate of God" in classical Mayan. - kzer, on 05/26/2009, -0/+0restaurant
- sameer768, on 05/26/2009, -0/+0Thats the joke.
