It must be that time of night again - jamesspelt, on 06/05/2008, -0/+4Phoenix isn't 'tweeting' back messages. Some lackey at NASA is posting updates.
- JohnnyXmas, on 06/05/2008, -0/+3She's not "some lackey." She's a former space-reporter for CNN that NASA specifically hired for this. She's actually not even at NASA, and she does a lot of the twittering from home. Also, did you seriously want NASA to blow the money on formulating a basic AI that would be able to compose tweets in the first-person based on what's going on, when they can just pay this chick five grand to do it on her own?
- JohnnyXmas, on 06/05/2008, -0/+3I wish those hackers would have taken over its Twitter account instead of its website. I'd have subscribed straight-away:
"OMG I r totally on teh polar ice cap lol" - zadadka, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1I joined on the first submission, but I'm not getting anything :(

Ok, we get it, you want your website to be popular, but spamming digg isn't going to do that for you!
Stop the spam Twitter! - ChristBehemoth, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1It's also using Plurk at http://www.plurk.com/user/MarsPhoenix
- JQP123, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1Down through the years, NASA has always been keenly aware of the significance and value of publicity and public relations. After all, continued funding and thus the organization's very survival depends on it.
But simulated 'tweeting' from a spacecraft is a little over the top, don't you think? What's next? Teams of puppeteers visiting kindergartens across the country --- introducing kids to the importance of NASA? At some point, too much of this starts to look like blatant propoganda. - johnmw, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1A Phoenix lander puppet? Yaaaay. I can imagine her on a TV show with Voyager 1 the Grouch.
- buywowgoldz, on 07/30/2008, -0/+0Tweets hehehehe cool

http://www.bid-directory.net - WELLDOITLIVE, on 06/05/2008, -0/+0It's not over the top, it's fun. It hardly takes them any additional time/money to do.
- iczman, on 06/05/2008, -12/+1A story made to the front page without any comments? Oh ***** i just broke the silence...
Anyway, mars lander FTW!
