- diggit83, on 08/08/2008, -3/+24Why the hell are first posts often by people who can't put sentences together properly?
- Wildthing, on 08/08/2008, -0/+13If his digg handle was actually meant to be "school", then you know all that you need to know.
- Ender126, on 08/09/2008, -0/+12Galactic universal? Because 1 planet exhibits cyclical climate change and one might? Maybe if our galaxy consisted of 3 planets...
Cool read though, here's to getting nuclear powered plasma engines up and running so we can make the trip to Mars in 39 days and check out the scene ourselves. - flyingclutchman, on 08/09/2008, -1/+9If i had a nickle for every planet that was in between ice ages, I wouldn't need a radio to take a shower.
- Orion1004, on 08/08/2008, -1/+8Looks as though cyclical climate change is a galactic universal! Cool post!
- dvnt, on 08/09/2008, -3/+9The above comments are rather intelligent and I lack the ability to respond to them in such a fashion.
- Paranoidmarvin, on 08/09/2008, -0/+6Well, we are, so if the ice age cycle is caused by extra-planetary influences, then this will give more evidence.
- mechard7512, on 08/09/2008, -0/+6Initially, I'm always really intrigued by things relating to space and the universe. Then they bring up the galactic time scale, talking about how billions of years are actually just a blink of the eye. Then I'm left feeling extremely insignificant.
I'm depressed now... :( - TheInformer, on 08/09/2008, -2/+7We're too late to save Mars from global warming. Damn Martian SUVs.
- bfeagan, on 08/09/2008, -3/+8Maybe we're between Ice Ages as well?
- zmigliozzi, on 08/09/2008, -3/+8No it's because our global warming is so bad it's affecting other planets...
- inactive, on 08/08/2008, -4/+8The solar system planets, has the climate most like that of Earth. Both are sensitive to small changes in orbital parameters.
- Myztry, on 08/09/2008, -0/+4It's not just a feeling. You/we are...
But there's no harm in that.
Humans weren't meant to be gods. - sadhesati, on 08/09/2008, -0/+3Is anyone else annoyed by the fact that they randomly leave out the word "Mars" quite a few times in the article? This is interesting but terribly written.
- inactive, on 08/09/2008, -0/+3I don't think "recently" means what you think it means...
- jgtg32a, on 08/09/2008, -1/+4That's not what his holiness the high druid Al Gore told me, and I will kill you when I find you for insulting my religion.
/sarcasm
(I almost left it out but then I remembered where I was) - inactive, on 08/09/2008, -1/+4I hope one day we find that we came from Mars. Interplanetary speciation is a fun possibility.
- atmenterprises, on 08/09/2008, -1/+3Now that's funny!
- Millsee, on 08/09/2008, -0/+2Don't be depressed.
Be amazed that you're here to know about it. - FurtThePirate, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1you bring shame to the pirates...
- chemam, on 08/10/2008, -0/+1This is still my favorite pic of mars' surface: http://hirise-pds.lpl.arizona.edu/PDS/EXTRAS/RDR/P ...
it almost looks like a beach, doesn't it? - qwertydvorak, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1at the moment earth is between ice ages. when the time comes for it to start cooling again, all of the global warming people will be killed and burned for heat when the big freeze comes along.
- KMartSheriff, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1Yet they still somehow fall short of proper sentence structure. Intelligence means nothing if you can't get your point across.
- WasabiBomb, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1Sure, it could absolutely happen here!
All we need is for Earth to be in the same exact orbit as Mars, for Earth to have the exact same atmospheric composition as Mars, for Earth to have the exact same mass as Mars, and for Earth to have the exact same population as Mars.
Then we'll be able to use Mars as an accurate predictor for Earth's climate! Great idea! - dragon76, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1We've also viewed the evidence of cyclical climate change on Saturn and Jupiter, it's just Mars is all the rage now.
- Millsee, on 08/09/2008, -0/+1Did? You mean you don't anymore?
- waspbr, on 08/09/2008, -1/+1too much pressure?
- Troyjinman, on 08/09/2008, -1/+1*under pressure by Queen* starts playing
- bullox, on 08/09/2008, -1/+1Such a strange thing to be upset about. If this is the worst thing you have to deal with, consider yourself lucky. If it's not, quit your bitching.
- fraggle35, on 08/09/2008, -1/+1I did come from Mars.
- waspbr, on 08/09/2008, -2/+1yeah, there' s just that itsy bitsy problem with that pesky high energy cosmic radiation...
- TomJohn, on 08/09/2008, -7/+5It's never too early to consider how to "Go Green" on Mars. But would that be possible since it's the red planet?
Sincerely,
A. Gore - AirPirate, on 08/09/2008, -4/+2C'mon fellow diggers, hook a brother up. What is this "Ice Age" thing? Is that when a planet cools and then warms in a natural cycle? Could that ever happen to us? I mean here... on earth? 'Cause if you are telling me that it COULD happen here, I would try to sell some carbon credits or build some of those newcular power plants. No... I think maybe just the carbon credits.
- Dylson, on 08/09/2008, -4/+1I submit it is not.
- Mohdoo, on 08/09/2008, -5/+1Why not have the title be "Mars possibly between Ice Ages"? Questions for a title is so lame.
- kamikazicondon, on 08/09/2008, -6/+1This is a really cool way of thinking about mars
- dannys77, on 08/09/2008, -5/+0lol
- HisShadow7, on 08/09/2008, -7/+1He's quoting the article *****
"Of all the solar system planets, has the climate most like that of Earth. Both are sensitive to small changes in orbital parameters," said planetary scientist Dr. James Head of Brown University.
If you actually read the article instead of just pretending like you did you may have actually noticed.
