- Frostek, on 10/14/2008, -0/+13You fool! Why wait till winter when you can just wait until night time?
- ChristmasPoo, on 10/14/2008, -0/+11The sun looks pretty big compared to Venus, Check out the sun compared to VV Cephei

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VV_Cephei - feyded, on 10/14/2008, -1/+125 Billion years and counting until it turns into a Red Giant. Have YOU made any plans yet?
- apr35, on 10/14/2008, -0/+11What if we landed on the sun in the winter, when it's cold?

(if you see that as anything but a joke, please leave Digg) - inajeep, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5My eyes! Blinded by the wicked beauty.
- Jonjonjonny, on 10/13/2008, -3/+8I'm not usually compelled to write what I'm about to write but, these pictures are simply stunning. I'll never look at the Sun (through a protective lens) in the same way again.
- pitdog, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5It would be fun to develop a spacecraft capable of penetrating the sun, to take a look at the inferno from inside.
- seantubridy, on 10/14/2008, -0/+5The sun has been unusually quiet this year. Too quite. If this keeps up, we may have to build and "Icarus" and invent a scientifically impossible method of reviving it.
- MJDub, on 10/14/2008, -0/+4Whoa
- comradeTJH, on 10/14/2008, -0/+4Except their logo.

- humptyz, on 10/14/2008, -0/+4The pictures of Mercury and Venus passing in front of the Sun really illustrate how massive it is. Awesome.

- Soofi, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3Digg is so full of sensational and exaggerated titles that 'Incredible Images of the Sun' seemed like another shameful attempt at attention whoredom, but I am glad to say I was wrong.. these pictures are truly incredible, and the animation of the Sun in particular is my favorite.
We live in an extraordinary and beautiful universe, but sometimes we become blind to the awe of space by getting too involved in small time bickering and politics. Everyone should take a break and just stare into the sky once in a while.
Peace. - DrummerAndrew, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3The animation made my day. So beautiful. It's hard to fathom some of the characteristics that make the Sun what it is. It makes me think that cold fusion is not really an option.
Secondly, the movie 'Sunshine' was pretty cool. - andypop481, on 10/14/2008, -0/+3Makes me want to watch sunshine again.
- tmc1, on 10/14/2008, -0/+2
That looks hotter than my +3 Sun sword! - GibitStylin, on 10/14/2008, -0/+2FIRE!!!!
- xTrScoops, on 10/14/2008, -0/+2Indeed.
but...are we sure that is a solar hurricane or.....a lost cell... - irishmcsg2, on 10/14/2008, -0/+2Sounds like it's time for you to build a sports balls on the sidewalk model of the solar system and start experimenting with viewing the sun/basketball from different vantage points among the planet balls
