- fuzzmeister, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4I am feeling a strange sense of deja vu...
- Jamie202, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Wow only 20 light years away too. Thats so exciting. In a few more years we will know a bunch more about these things too with the launch of new observatories. OH the world of science how you keep us enthralled.
- motang, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Damn this freaking cool! Will be looking out for more information on this one!
- Durinthal, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3You do realize that Mars isn't EXTRA SOLAR right?

I guess the "HUGE NEWS" kinda desensitizes people...
Buried as Dupe - cyphin6, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ya we should be able to reach the planet to conquer them after about 20,000 years or so of traveling, Definitely possible.....
- codemonkey314, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1WOW this is freaking amazing... digg this baby up!
- Steelfox, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1deja vu?
- ScottoGato, on 06/12/2008, -0/+1And with a Red Dwarf star as well. These usually have longer lifespans than our Sun.
A bigger planet with a possible longer lifespan than that of our own planet (based upon the lifespan of our sun) and it's only 20 light years away.
This is why I've grown to love astronomy. - NickMilne, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Could support life, huh? Great
BUT WILL IT BLEND - rebopper, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4dupe
- honeydeal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The discovery returns a feeling of optimism for me. I mean, all the negative angles can't take away from this the potential - if a small one - that we Terrestrials may not be alone in the cosmos, and that life recognisable to us - as life - could be out there somewhere.
- wazzledoozle2, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1How long until we invade?
Those extra-solar terrorists and their hatred of freedom are the greatest threat to America. We must destroy them before they destroy us! - TheXeno, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I call the cool offshore mountain-like island with the cave underneath!
- stevejnotjobs, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The European Southern Observatory good enough a source for ya?

- aaaleman, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Huge news from BADastronomy.com?
I'll wait for something from Nature, or Scientific American, or ... - doconnor5, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Is this where Bush and Cheney are going to reside after their term in office? Or will they not want them too?
- cnmsales, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1You do realize that Mars is considered EARTH LIKE right?
- VintageMud, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0How about we first concentrate on fixing our planet before we go trying to screw up another one...
Even as a fan of the fantasy of extra-terrestrial life and space exploration glorified by the movies and tv, I can't agree with the billions of dollars that have been wasted on our failure of a space program when there are so many more pressing issues that need to be addressed before we can even consider visiting other planets.
If we can't stay civil within our own nations, still have the poor and destitute, have illiterate adults, or eliminate the widespread corruption in our own governments, what chance to we have of impressing another species? How can we stand by, watching as our planet slowly (maybe not as slowly as we think) disintegrates before us, with so many species of animals going extinct by the year, polluting our air, water and land.
Perhaps the creators of The Matrix weren't so far off when they described the human race as a virus, spreading, consuming everything in our paths, until there is nothing left. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -5/+0How is this huge news? How does it affect us at all? We are not going there.
