- AmyVernon, on 07/04/2008, -0/+9thanks for sharing this.... i always mean to look up what cool astronomical stuff is in the sky, but never do...
- phorty40, on 07/05/2008, -0/+4And wales will probably call the cops again , or worse Nasa to alert them of alien invaders

- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -0/+3'Look up' indeed.
- rpj101288, on 07/05/2008, -0/+3Venus will usually only be seen at dusk, near the sun, because it's closer to the sun than we are. Jupiter on the other hand, was rising at around 10 o'clock last night. I pulled out the telescope, and she's a beauty. Saw 4 moons as well, 1 wide left, 2 close in left, and one 1 right of the planet. An awe-inspiring sight!
- bakshi, on 07/05/2008, -0/+3I understand how you feel. You see, it's all very clear to me now. The whole thing. It's wonderful.
- inactive, on 07/05/2008, -0/+3It is the moon, Over.
- squeky, on 07/05/2008, -0/+3Thanks much for the link. I'll have my laptop and binoculars out in the middle of a field tonight.

Dave: Something wonderful.
HAL-9000: I'm afraid.
Dave: Don't be. We'll be together.
HAL-9000: Where will we be?
Dave: Where I am now. - elpifco99, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2Is that you, Dave?

- Iwantawii, on 07/05/2008, -0/+2Cool event and well written article/submission
- aserer511, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1The heavenly ballet continuously being performed by these "wandering stars" has played a crucial role in the celestial lore of all peoples. It is not surprising that they were regarded as deities
Ah, almost as inscrutable a defense as 'God made the earth because I don't what else could have' ;) - larryk12308, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1Half Empty Half Full?
Jupiter, a failed star or big butt kickin' asteroid grabbin' gas giant! - eddie72, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1They say Jupiter is too small to have become a star but I have a feeling other things happened that prevented that. What caused a would be star to have four moons in orbit. Also was googling and found this, a star the size of Jupiter: http://www.physorg.com/news3266.html
Makes me think some of the articles conclusions aren't exactly accurate. - twinklyJesus, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1Lame, dugg down because you can't tell the difference between the internet and texting on a cell phone.
- wontstoptalking, on 07/05/2008, -2/+3Hey, so I *was* right. I did see that extraodinarily large bright thing in the sky last night (and it was in the southeast) and assumed it was Venus, the brightest in the sky (normally). Well actually then I was wrong. Whatever.
Digg is beginning to interfere with my daily life, this must stop, what next? Getting rick rolled on the radio on my way to work?
OH SHI- - mehan, on 07/05/2008, -1/+2I got rickrolled in my car two times now, by XM channel 81, they play some sorta dance mix that sounds pretty horrible.
- DelMonte, on 07/06/2008, -0/+1Tonight I noticed this bright white spot in the sky. It was not scintillating like stars do so I knew it was a planet, and since it was extremely bright I knew it was Jupiter. Nice to see an article about it on digg when coming back home!
It brings back memories, when I was young, around 1986 or something like that, there was another period of time where Jupiter was this visible. With a simple pair of relatively powerful binocular, I was able to see 2 or 3 of Jupiter's moons which is pretty nice since I'm living in Montreal and we don't get to see many stars in the sky. - Farik, on 07/05/2008, -0/+1I see what you did there.
- settlesdown, on 07/06/2008, -0/+0Thanks Man. That is an awesome bit of software. I'll get much use out of it. It would be cool to use as a screensaver!
- Volath, on 07/05/2008, -0/+0"Its relative smallness, however, prevents the initiation of the nuclear processes that could have turned it into a full-fledged star. Had this been the case, we would have the ------>distinction of living within a binary star system."
WTF do they mean by distinction? Binary star systems are much more common than single systems. - inactive, on 07/05/2008, -3/+2I'm gonna put my Venus in Uranus.
and have sex with you.
(i dont have a Euphamism for that part) - nypix, on 07/05/2008, -5/+2Remember to look down to see Uranus
- RoccoMcTaco, on 07/05/2008, -4/+1Regulus in Leo gets me sooo hot....
