news.bbc.co.uk — A test satellite for the European Galileo global positioning system has been successfully launched from Kazakhstan.

- digg it
- chanop, on 04/28/2008, -0/+22I am sufficiently happy with the amount of diggs it took to get to the front page
- Dokument, on 04/28/2008, -9/+17I see a little silhouetto of a man,
Scaramouche, scaramouche will you do the fandango-

Spare him his life from this monstrosity-
Easy come easy go-,will you let me go-
Bismillah! no-,we will not let you go-let him go-

Mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go-
Beelzebub has a devil put aside for me,for me,for me-- Pixelante, on 04/28/2008, -4/+3Dugg up for Queen reference.
Mama mia let me go.- hazard99, on 04/29/2008, -0/+2There is really no need to act like it was a subtle reference to Queen.
- acdcfanbill, on 04/28/2008, -0/+2I can't bury Queen!
- Dustmuffins, on 04/28/2008, -0/+2*rocks out*

- ligyron, on 04/28/2008, -1/+10Cool
- mistergoodburge, on 04/28/2008, -1/+1why?
- alanr19, on 04/28/2008, -0/+2yeh
- Scynet, on 04/28/2008, -0/+2Some things just are inherently cool. Although these random, short comments are not one of them.
- p_o_b, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1It's cool because it will be a 3rd publicly accessible satnav system. Galileo + Glonass (Russia's constellation) + GPS = 3 times the number of satellites of GPS only. Few if any consumer grade receivers will track the foreign signals now but you will soon see multi-constellation units tracking 30+ satellites at any given time.
- mistergoodburge, on 04/28/2008, -1/+1why?
- tmaiden, on 04/28/2008, -1/+6That lift off looked like it came from a video game; pretty neat if u ask me.
- leduck8, on 04/28/2008, -5/+9"successfully launched from Kazakhstan."
Very nice!- MortalynFlux, on 04/28/2008, -4/+6Will be transmitting messages to Pamela Anderson.... Sexy time!
- kmb1794, on 04/28/2008, -4/+2creepy
- mistergoodburge, on 04/28/2008, -11/+3Does anyone think the government or a select group of people controls what we see on digg's frontpage?...food for thought
- bag2p, on 04/28/2008, -2/+2I do! the super nerds with the bot accounts.
- mistergoodburge, on 04/28/2008, -2/+1Of course they dugg me down they have the power Doh
- DEIx15x8, on 04/28/2008, -1/+2Well the whole of Digg doesn't seem to be but there is no denying that the political section is run by Obamanites.
- mistergoodburge, on 04/28/2008, -2/+2Dugg up I agree Obamanites take over digg i hate it, go Clinton

- ItsMyWii, on 04/28/2008, -1/+12Great success!
- enchanterku, on 04/28/2008, -0/+2Reminds me of the original Half Life
- balla1ap, on 04/28/2008, -7/+1great, now they can spy on us even more, definitely not taking my cell phone next time i commit treason.
- Scynet, on 04/28/2008, -0/+9Your cellphone's location is already discoverable through triangulation, no satellites needed for that.
- RubineBoy, on 04/28/2008, -8/+1From Kazakhstan ... hm ... And the system has been succesfully launched? Are you sure?
I wonder how long it took them to explain what a satelite is.- MadAce, on 04/28/2008, -1/+7You're a ***** retard. Baikonur Cosmodrome is the largest operational space launch facility. A very large portion of all satellites ever launched were launched in Kazakhstan.
- XeNoGeAr78, on 04/28/2008, -3/+5Nuclear launch detected.
- DEIx15x8, on 04/28/2008, -1/+6It's rather shameful how many people here believe in that Borat movie. The guy is banned from the country for spreading lies through out the world and has given the US a terrible reputation. Making fun of a country because of a movie further emphasizes why we are hated so much.
- cyberdork, on 04/28/2008, -0/+3Nah, Americans just don't get that the whole point of Borat is to make fun of the uneducated US.
- chembro84, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1Isn't the guy who played Borat from England?
- DrywallThief, on 04/29/2008, -0/+1Yes
- GREEDOnvrFIRED, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1"relying on" "SATNET" "for safety critical applications." This all sounds vaguely familiar.
- percible, on 04/28/2008, -0/+8I think it is quite amusing that the new BBC Flash Video Player volume goes up to 11.
- awuwish, on 04/28/2008, -1/+1You noticed that too? I always knew the metric system was silly.
- Magicmasta, on 04/29/2008, -0/+1Yeah, there's a metric unit for flash video players oO.
- awuwish, on 04/28/2008, -1/+1You noticed that too? I always knew the metric system was silly.
- bethehammer, on 04/28/2008, -2/+2damn, I have to wait until 2013 for my every move to be tracked when i cheat on my wife - seriously why the hell do we want for our every move to be tracked - we can't even rob a bank, get lost, or commit adultery in peace - oh well I guess I'll just have to take the battery out of my phone before I go to her house in the future ;)
- chembro84, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1Ever heard of GPS? Its the same thing. Plus your location can already be tracked through triangulation with your cell phone, so if you really would like privacy in that respect you should pull the battery out of your phone anyways. Plus don't cheat on your wife, it's rude.
- DrywallThief, on 04/29/2008, -0/+1But it's cool to cheat on my wife and I can get dugg up for mentioning it!

- orbitalia, on 04/28/2008, -1/+2i helped write the MIL-STD-1553B bus protocol for that baby.
- TetchyTony, on 04/28/2008, -5/+1Here in Britain, we seriously want it to fail. Everyone knows it will be used to impose variable-rate 'road pricing' (tolls) on all roads at all times
- mijelh, on 04/28/2008, -0/+0[citation needed]
- kungfool101, on 04/29/2008, -0/+2Unless you drive more than average that would probably save you money. If you feel like disagreeing read it again, and maybe an economics book while you're at it.
- KIERANMULLEN, on 04/29/2008, -0/+1Taxes never go down. They always go up. it's like petrol/gas up +.04-.02+.04-.02
- novenator, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1The Galileo system will be vastly superior to the US dominated GPS system currently in use, promising true submeter accuracy without military scrambling. Plus, as Europe is uniting, it is about time they get together on a project this important, even if it does cost a bit more than projected.
- chembro84, on 04/28/2008, -0/+1Its about time Europe makes something us Americans can use for free :)
- tenbosch, on 04/29/2008, -1/+0I like rockets.
I like sex. - kurtu5, on 04/29/2008, -0/+1Portable inertial guidance systems will obviate this € hungry hound.
