- korimickster, on 08/14/2008, -4/+28It's pretty upsetting that we haven't been to Mars yet.
- DeskFlyer, on 08/15/2008, -2/+21And if you disagree with him?
POW! Right in the kisser! ;) - Sonan, on 08/14/2008, -0/+15I hope the recent events concerning Georgia don't hinder cooperation between the US and Russia on space initiatives. We're about to become fairly reliant on Russia for access to the IS.
- DeskFlyer, on 08/15/2008, -0/+12Why are you getting dugg down? If the USG would have gave NASA their requested budget every year since the early '70s instead of the DoD, we'd be there by now.
- dwrunyon, on 08/15/2008, -1/+11My sole reason for checking the comments on this article was to see if there were any mentions of him hitting someone. I am pleased to report that your comment here was much more satisfying than any I had actually hoped to see, and certainly better than any I had brewing in my mind to make myself. To summarize... good one.
- yillip, on 08/14/2008, -0/+10S.
- shockeriv, on 08/15/2008, -0/+9He cleared up that conspiracy on the Ali G show - the moon does exist.
- agildehaus, on 08/15/2008, -1/+8Try saying that to his face.
- inactive, on 08/15/2008, -0/+5"Does you t'ink man will ever land on the sun?"
- mrmayor92, on 08/15/2008, -0/+5Heh i talked to that guy down in cape Canaveral Florida when i was like 12...
- inactive, on 08/15/2008, -0/+5Absolutely. If we citizens of Earth could only stop our 7,000 year old pissing contest, we might figure a thing or two out. Exploring space should be priority #1 as far as I'm concerned. I really can't think of anything better to do with our technology.
- theculchie1, on 08/15/2008, -1/+5Try getting informed from reliable information sources rather than half baked Walter Mitty conspiracy sites.
If you said that to Buzz he would most likely kick your ass. - Shadic, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4And don't you dare disagree with him.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOo6aHSY8hU - inactive, on 08/15/2008, -0/+4"Do we want to fill the gap now by sending astronauts up in Soyuz to our $100 billion space station?"
Sorry buzz but it's not just yours. The word 'international' is in there for a reason. With an economy 1/12 the size of America's, Russia has contributed 40 billion to the station and a highly efficient human/payload delivery system your country doesn't even posses. Shame on you buzz. - Sonan, on 08/14/2008, -1/+5Sorry... ISS.
Thanks yillip - jhnsnp, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3I'm just curious, tried googling for it, but has Aldrin ever commented on that incident?
- DelayedEraser, on 08/15/2008, -0/+3agreed, good one. Though I might have gone with "Bang! Zoom! Straight to the moon!"
- Rudegar, on 08/15/2008, -0/+2more interested in what he think about that other Astra d00d who claim that they did little else then hand out and kick back with aliens :)
- listrophy, on 08/15/2008, -0/+1From the NYTimes review of "In the Shadow of the Moon" http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/04/science/space/04 ...
Michael Collins, who orbited the moon during the Apollo 11 mission while Neil A. Armstrong and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. took their lunar module down to the surface, said that after the flight, on the around-the-world tour that NASA sent them on, “Wherever we went, people, instead of saying, ‘Well, you Americans did it!’ — everywhere, they said, ‘We did it! We, humankind, we, the human race, we, people, did it!’ ”
It is "our" $100 billion space station. Ours, the human race's. - fluxion, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1i was a great Fox special, but in the 8 or so years in between you probably should've taken the time to research the refuted arguments a bit before you decided to use them as a basis to demean one of the heroes of our time.
- fluxion, on 08/16/2008, -0/+1he said his wrist was a bit sore afterward but it healed pretty quick
- legsthebass, on 08/15/2008, -1/+2That's true but it's not the point of going to Mars nor is it a valid reason not to go. We don't want people to go and live naturally as they do on Earth (i.e. running around in an open environment). The point is to be able to overcome those challenges as presented and better understand what IS there, not what we already know is not there.
- inactive, on 08/15/2008, -0/+1Maybe thats what he meant, but it came out wrong since he said 'our' after talking about their (russian) Soyuz.
- greendalek, on 08/15/2008, -1/+2God bless you Buzz Aldrin.
- monkeeofevil, on 08/15/2008, -0/+1plus one for Ali G reference.
- monkeeofevil, on 08/15/2008, -0/+1lies, its in the bible so we did it. k, thx,bai.. n00b ;)
- DelayedEraser, on 08/15/2008, -0/+1Space exploration was born out of national pride and competition. I agree it would be lovely if it became some grand unifying pursuit for humanity, and I think for some people out there it is, but for most it still remains a point of nationalism it seems. It's funny when you compare it to the LHC, which involves scientists from all sorts of countries that have varying political relationships - science can certainly bring people and cultures and governments together, but for whatever reason space exploration hasn't been leading that crusade.
- mr5150, on 08/15/2008, -2/+2Buzz!..what the hell do you know about space? ah..enough said.
- MrTito, on 08/15/2008, -2/+2"That guy" has been to the moon.
- DeadMeatUK, on 08/15/2008, -2/+2I'm disappointed that a man that has seen the whole earth behind his thumb, still has a narrow nationalistic view to space exploration. Why is it an issue that Russia/Europe is ferrying people to the space station instead of the US ? Surely it should stop being a race amongst nation states and become a global goal.
He of all people should understand that and be an ambassador for it ? - babygirlcrib, on 11/15/2008, -0/+0http://generalelectricdishwasher.blogspot.com/

- DeadMeatUK, on 08/15/2008, -1/+0The size of the fridge required to keep the milk cold would blow mission parameters. Any fule know that.
- inactive, on 08/15/2008, -2/+0Just who the F** is Buzz aldrin to speak on the future of ANY space exploration??
Just because he was in a cheap moon movie makes him an expert???
Next thing you know hollywood actors will be politicians... oh wait... nevermind - jlcotton1968, on 08/15/2008, -3/+1THIS JUST IN!
We never went to the moon.
That is all. - ShittyPunGuy, on 08/15/2008, -3/+1I guess I'm not the only one who's heard the buzz on space travel!
- inactive, on 08/15/2008, -4/+1I didn't know Buzz had so many queer fans protecting his ass, Soooweee.
- inactive, on 08/15/2008, -5/+1Try takin' your head out of the orbit of his ass.
- HappyScrappy, on 08/15/2008, -7/+1But what does he think about the moon landing being faked?
- jaymzdean, on 08/14/2008, -9/+3Mars' mass is 1/3 the Earths and unlike the earth, it has no gravitational field to allow enough atmosphere to support human life.
These facts, while unpopular amongst mars enthusiasts, are nonetheless, facts. - inactive, on 08/15/2008, -10/+2Buzz, what a great actor you are...just like in the 60's.
