- mowe, on 06/07/2008, -2/+15I kinda wish Astronomy was the only thing in which size mattered.

- Shogi, on 06/07/2008, -0/+6Always good to hear about advances in space observation/exploration.
- Fogdelune, on 06/07/2008, -0/+5I've wanted to visit there since watching "Cosmos" as a kid, and the film "Contact" still makes me want to go.
Must have been a cool visit for you! - jugglingjon, on 06/07/2008, -0/+4I thought this was going to be about Elijah Wood.
- mrzeero, on 06/07/2008, -0/+4I visited the VLA a couple of years ago. It was really cool. I am glad to see that they are going to be able to continue their valuable research.
- Twenty, on 06/07/2008, -0/+3I think that's what they were getting at.
- WombleSlayer, on 06/07/2008, -1/+4We're one step closer to finding intelligent life.
Though knowing us humans, we'll probably just bomb them. - Chronoped, on 06/07/2008, -0/+2Dibs on the old equipment.
- junkwheel, on 06/07/2008, -2/+3I highly doubt they are the biggest eyes on the Universe or in the Universe.
- mrzeero, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1Yes, I definitely recommend it. Here are some pictures I posted on Flickr of our visit.

though I suppose one COULD argue that the "eyes" are trained ON the Universe... - davidhallstrom, on 06/07/2008, -2/+3I found this piece quite interesting. Thank you for posting it.
- hollyminkowski, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1"Very Large Array (VLA) near Socorro, N.M., which combines the waves of 28 radio telescopes, each 25 feet in diameter,"
The dishes are 25 METERS in diameter each....
WAY different than 25 foot diam dishes!
The dishes are HUGE when you stand right next to them.
The array has such high gain that picking up a standard cell phone on mars would be easy.
80+ dbi - DeathRay2K, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1But who's to say they ARE the biggest eyes?
What if we find bigger eyes somewhere in the universe? For this insolence they could start an eye war, and Apple could sponsor it! - shaggy25, on 06/07/2008, -1/+2That's what he said
- diggrim, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1if we find life out there the chances of them being anywhere near to our development level is nil; they will either be millions of years behind or in front...humans may not be the ones roach bombing (we'd probably seem like insects to them)
- Chronoped, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1It could take hundreds of thousands of years if our cosmic neighbors really used such slow, primitive methods of communication. In fact, many such signals have the potential of being lost in the background noise of the cosmos as they get weaker and farther from their source. It's cool, but inefficient.
- dmkirt, on 06/07/2008, -0/+1My, what big ears you have!
- sungoddess808, on 06/07/2008, -1/+1It's nice that guys can joke about their own "short comings"! LoL
- AuburnTigers, on 06/07/2008, -2/+2Misleading title. I thought we were gonna see some bush baby looking human.
Disappointed. - Fogdelune, on 06/07/2008, -1/+1Dugg you for the "Contact" reference.
- erictsfx, on 06/06/2008, -2/+2NRAO computer correlated telemetry will be emit a bountiful harvest
- rdebath, on 06/07/2008, -0/+0I was expecting something anime, or pre anime like Betty.

- binorgog, on 08/07/2008, -2/+1Someone let a sista know when size DOESN'T MATTER!
- TobiasParker, on 06/07/2008, -8/+3*insert penis joke*
- wikitywack, on 06/07/2008, -5/+0Perhaps they can use the same technique from the "biggest boobs" article
- Carl306, on 06/07/2008, -9/+3"In astronomy, size matters"
That's what she said.
