- Frost9999, on 02/24/2008, -10/+25I'm bored looking at this, again.
- natterca, on 02/24/2008, -1/+10That you are a moron.
- inactive, on 02/24/2008, -2/+11It's teh attack of the nasa.gov picz!
- lagartoflojo, on 02/24/2008, -1/+8This picture is proof that Earth is flat.
- Mossman85, on 02/24/2008, -1/+7I didn't know we were forced to click every link on digg. Holy *****.
- SQLserver, on 02/24/2008, -4/+10Ah Ha!
Anyone can tell that the picture is a FAKE!!!!!!!11
For instance, why is there no GREEN in the picture? Earth has plenty of Green!
Doesn't that Earth look like one of those corny old photo backdrops?
And, who could have taken the picture? It's not like an Astronaut just floated away to take it!
Its so OBVIOUS! We've never been to space! Its a FAKE! FAKE!!!!
/sarcasm - thundacracka, on 02/24/2008, -1/+6Anyone else trying to figure out where, exactly, on earth the picture is showing? Hm, Guess I'm a geek.
- Nerdculture, on 02/24/2008, -1/+6Anyone able to recognize what land feature the satellite is above?
- Maddoktor2, on 02/24/2008, -1/+5Yes.
- nospinhere, on 02/24/2008, -3/+7funny, that is exactly what your mother said t me last night.
- AndersLund, on 02/24/2008, -2/+5I want to work for NASA
- catachip, on 02/24/2008, -1/+4Using a website called "Google" with the search term "weight of the entire universe" the first hit said "3 x 10^55 kg".
- kitkatsavvy, on 02/24/2008, -4/+7ummm..isnt this story already on the front page.. like 2x right now?? mmm
- KennMac, on 02/24/2008, -1/+4You probably should remove the Science>Space category from your preferences considering you don't seem to like it.
I know I do. - klassica, on 02/25/2008, -0/+2Another awesome space photo. Can anyone identify the location of the land below? It's clearly some coastline.
- rento, on 02/24/2008, -2/+4Woops, don't look down!
- wardrox, on 02/24/2008, -1/+3HAHA, that was the funniest thing ever. I have firstly never seen that done before and secondly, didn't like the work I was trying to do anyway and don't find it a hassle to get rid of, AT ALL.
Now, go die in a fire. - tehrich, on 02/24/2008, -1/+2So much for looking at the front page and seeing the same damn thing in the top 10.
- TheWindBlows, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1No unit of measure = fail
- BrokenVisage, on 02/24/2008, -1/+2Oh come on, your first "backdrop" submission made front page, we get the point and if we wanted more most of us know there's a NASA page.
- TheWindBlows, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1I see what you are saying now...
The planet needs to be run into the satellite in order to test its fragility. - EmileVictor, on 02/24/2008, -2/+3***** troll. Ban this idiot.
- funkyflea, on 02/24/2008, -2/+3Amazing, I'm dizzy just looking at this.
- TheWindBlows, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1its easier to put it as
3e+55 kg - yy4ne1, on 02/24/2008, -2/+3just another image proving that the world is indeed flat!
- tsupersonic, on 02/24/2008, -1/+2Yep, there is two on the front page. Hmmm
- TheWindBlows, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1Isn't the universe constantly expanding?
Also "weight" is irrelevant as that is an equation of mass and gravitational pull in general you can say the universe has no pull because of space so it "weighs" 0 pounds
.
Mass on the other hand is only guessable as you would need to do comparing of planets masses which can be a dangerous thing as planets that approach each other may collide losing bits and pieces. - drcreek, on 02/24/2008, -0/+1Nope. Your still a *****
- rheaume, on 02/24/2008, -1/+2Florida?
- catachip, on 02/25/2008, -0/+1It is scientific notation - I would have assumed you learned it in high school, but, it means that the mass of the universe in kilograms is estimated to be 3 followed by 55 zeros, (i.e., 30,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 kilograms).
- TargetDog, on 02/24/2008, -1/+2Bah. Everyone knows that space stations are supposed to be giant rotating wheels with lots of windows and guest rooms for space tourists. That just looks like a bunch of solar panels with a Winnebago stuck on.
- zeromancer, on 02/24/2008, -1/+2it's in the top 10 right now
- kevinmotel, on 02/24/2008, -1/+2i agree. it looks like florida
- catachip, on 02/24/2008, -1/+2This is the International Space Station, not a satellite. I have not seen many satellite posts.
- inactive, on 02/24/2008, -1/+2I would say either florida or south america.
- flyingmeteor, on 02/24/2008, -1/+1Which way is down?
- stabbingkittens, on 02/24/2008, -1/+1Dugg for COBHC
- Maddoktor2, on 02/24/2008, -2/+2It looks so fragile...
- catachip, on 02/24/2008, -1/+1Can we please just provide a link to the NASA Picture of the Day website on the front page? Submissions from this website make it there almost every day.
- KennMac, on 02/24/2008, -1/+1You probably want the mass of the entire universe.
- dwcharn, on 02/24/2008, -1/+1That's because these pix are just THAT cool. I mean that's a shot from space! SPACE!
- acidwire90, on 02/24/2008, -1/+1This is totally a cool pic
again - jbfdiggs, on 02/24/2008, -1/+1How old was this baby?
- inactive, on 02/24/2008, -1/+1man thats old
i submit space ***** here bu t seem ppl only care bout satelites and a fall down headche
balbahakbskiu - rankftw, on 02/24/2008, -5/+5this story is lame, everybody undigg, honestly who dugg this *****?
- dancraggs, on 02/24/2008, -1/+1Now, now. Some people have never heard of the since-the-Internet-was-invented NASA multimedia archives before; let's be nice.
- KennMac, on 02/24/2008, -1/+1Just got done watching War of the Worlds?
- rand0mm0nkey, on 02/24/2008, -1/+1They will. Keep watching.
- xxTazxx, on 02/24/2008, -2/+1Space pictures are amazing, however I am getting sick of the masses of them that are FP'd, if you think about it there are many other pictures, stories, videos, etc that are equally as amazing but don't seem to get on the frontpage.
In order to totally ruin my argument, I call algorithm conspiracy theory. - Hoogs, on 02/24/2008, -2/+1I don't mind the occasional interesting space picture, but these are just all the same.
