- Rhelim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+53I vote for a digg.com "Photos" section.

- SonicRush, on 10/12/2007, -0/+18Is there any way to see it bigger!?
- amercer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+16Nope, not until the photographer realizes how much we love ths shot and decides to upload some higher res pics. It is beautiful!
- neithernet, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11"Is there any way to see it bigger!?"
Sure! Just move a little closer. - Falldog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Get yourself a photography guide such as the 'Canon EOS Digital Rebel Digital Field Guide' (Google it). I got one when I got my Nikon and it's been a help over the past half a year or so. You probably can’t go wrong with any of those ‘For Dummies’ books either.
Don’t forget to search the web, as there are tons of guides, general assistance & forums that could help you out. - 0crabby0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Relax man, just make the current photo a background for your cellphone :)
- Falldog, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7I'd be nice to see. But at ISO 800 for 30 seconds, It's probably fairly noisy though.
- fyngyrz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6Brewer, it's a 30-second exposure. Things move in 30 seconds. Both on earth and in the skies. You can reduce the sky effect with a motorized mount (like a telescope uses) but you can't do much about the wind, etc.
So... relax. The larger image is beautiful. - GTPilot, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5check out this guy's photos of that comet too .. the last one is awsome http://ecoadam.blogspot.com/2007/01/southern-skies.html

I wish I could take pictures like that. - greenmammal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Wow - look how he cooks his breakfast...

That's ingenious! I'm going to do that tomorrow morning. - hybridcreation, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I think that's my problem. I've always wanted to take pictures, so I went and got a Rebel XT...without much experience using manual settings. I've had it for over a year and still don't really know how to use it.
- Andross01, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Alright, I'll give props to this one - first photo related Digg post that actually features a good photo.
But I concur, there needs to be a photo section for Digg. - hybridcreation, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Cool...will do.
Thanks for the advice.
And for those you digging me down for no apparent reason....eat *****. - Falldog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It’s not that difficult after some experience. Photography can be a great hobby and I’d recommend it to pretty much anyone. Its not to difficult to get into, although I wouldn’t suggest running out and buying a nice DSLR if you haven’t done too much in a point & shoot’s manual setting first.
- marinist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Awesome. The comets I've seen (and on pitch black desert nights) were nothing like this.
Lucky Aussies. - TwilightKing, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Does anyone know if McNaught is coming back around stateside looking like that?
- thescimitar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2*applause* Hear, hear!
- BigLou, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Not without the original high res shots... otherwise you're looking at a blurry, jagged mess.
- TDot1980, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You could also try The Basic Book of Photography by Tom and Michele Grimm. While written for film, it is still very applicable for D-SLR's. In fact, it may have been updated in recent years to include more digital stuff. There were a few chapters in my 5-year-old edition about digital cameras.
- tealturtle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Re: breakfast - Don't forget to toast the cut-out bread round in the pan, too. You can then use it as a "lid" for the egg.
It's very tasty! You can use your cup, mug or drinking glass to cut the hole in the bread. - ydeologi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Thanks. I must give props to kottke.org as my original source. I thought it was a great find, worth sharing -- nice to see it fly up the digg charts. I agree that photos should have their own digg category...
- ij00mini, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In my family we call it the "Hole in One"
- brewer, on 10/12/2007, -3/+4mjar81:
Now, if that is the quality of the original image (not just a blown up version of the one posted in the headline) then I can see why it wasn't posted any bigger. It's not a very crisp photo. - revotech, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been seeing the comet on and off for the past few nights here at home, and it is spectacular! Though I could never manage to get photos like that with my pretty normal digital camera... :( Maybe I'd have a chance if the moon would just hurry up and become a new moon, it's too bright!
I think in another week or so it'll be almost invisible to the naked eye, though I'm lucky I've a good pair of binoc's! - JohnWhitePhotos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Thanks guys for the comments. I see some are asking why I havent posted a higher resolution image. Guess I dont want others selling prints as I am!

If you want a 1280x960 pixel screen saver email me and I will be happy to send you one.
Cheers John - aussieNickuss, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1What I saw in Victoria, on its brightest night....a fair distance from any city....was nothing like this. It was visible but it was not bright like this. I think you got better views from Central Australia.
I can still actually see it, I saw it last night.....but its very faint now and takes a while to spot. - tealturtle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This is a "Wow" all right.
I second (or third) the proposal for a Photos section.
And if you like how he makes breakfast and are trying it, I urge you to toast that cut-out bread round in the pan too. At the same time, if it fits, and then it's all ready at once, and your egg has a "hat." You can use a drinking glass, cup or mug to press-cut the hole in the bread, which is easier than using a knife. It's delicious! - shenki, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Big Swap, as in behind Port Lincoln?
home town represent :) - LogicX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Egg_in_the_basket
- diggsIt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Reminds me of the album cover for 'Weather Reports', Mysterious Traveller. Check it out.
- spudnic, on 10/12/2007, -5/+5It's probably small because it has value in print sales, if you really like it I suggest you contact him and ask to buy a print of it :)
- yourscreenname, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Is there anyway you could make it wallpaper size? say around 1280x1024?
- hybridcreation, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'll check that one out as well!!!
- hybridcreation, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Not sure if it will look like that, but I found this on space.com...
"Observers have followed its gradual brightening as its distances from Sun and Earth decreased. It's currently both a morning and evening object, visible very low near the east-southeast horizon about 30 to 40 minutes before sunrise and very low near the west-southwest horizon about 30 to 40 minutes after sunset.
During this upcoming week, prospective observers should seek the most favorable conditions possible. Even a bright comet can be obliterated by thin horizon clouds, haze, humid air, smoke, twilight glow, city lights, or moonlight. Binoculars are strongly recommended for locating it.
But the past few days, reports suggest that Comet McNaught is becoming easier to sight even through the bright twilight glow." - fdantas, on 10/12/2007, -3/+2at this size its pointless.
- tealturtle, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0This is a "Wow" all right.

oops, trying to edit... - thehuskerfan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Beautiful...
- anagoge, on 10/12/2007, -4/+2Points for using "Brilliant" instead of "Amazing" in the title.
- monergism, on 10/12/2007, -5/+3Do you know the value of GOOD photography?
- monergism, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Irish chicks are hawt.
- Featherlake, on 10/12/2007, -4/+1Move closer to the monitor.
- doubleblack, on 10/12/2007, -5/+2Yes, I do know the value of GOOD photography, but it's useless if I can't put it as my desktop background and appreciate it ;)
- BigLou, on 10/12/2007, -9/+3Everyone, Digg this comment down!
@FarNorthMac: Be patient, if people "actually" want to visit your site they will digg it up. This does not belong in here. - doubleblack, on 10/12/2007, -10/+3High Res, or No Digg...
- WildTang3nt, on 10/12/2007, -11/+2I must have that in background size, but there is no such size posted! :( I'm going to kill myself now, goodbye.
- HaxAttaX, on 10/12/2007, -12/+1I think this is one of the stock wallpapers in windows vista

What is Digg?
