Good to see the same story on the front page a day apart from one another. - vroom101, on 06/24/2009, -2/+10High-resolution photos of the Sarychev Peak eruption..."Medium" and "Large" for all the photos...one photo has a "Huge" version: http://chamorrobible.org/gpw/gpw-200906.htm
- thethinktank, on 06/24/2009, -2/+9Much better than looking down and seeing a mushroom cloud...
- inactive, on 06/24/2009, -2/+9Wow that's pretty amazing!
- schudog3, on 06/24/2009, -5/+11I blame Michael Bay.

- ethanator1088, on 06/24/2009, -2/+6I have seen a lot of stuff on the internet, but that was truly breathtaking!
- nard3456, on 06/24/2009, -1/+4Damn nature, you awesome.
- MMusick, on 06/24/2009, -2/+5Love how you can actually see the ring from the shockwave.
- itc518, on 06/24/2009, -2/+4That is definitely awesome, the pictures are unreal looking.
- axalon, on 06/24/2009, -3/+5I have nothing original to say except for 'Wow.'
- CourageWulf, on 06/24/2009, -2/+4Pic #3 = new wallpaper. High res please.
- noletrain, on 06/24/2009, -5/+7I blame Megan Fox
- fuzzybeard, on 06/24/2009, -0/+2"Hole In The Head" is my favorite name for your comment.
/zing! - paradox2222, on 06/24/2009, -0/+2Priceless! We need a 360 shot around the plume with Martin Lawrence slowly standing up and looking off into the distance.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sqz5dbs5zmo - fuzzybeard, on 06/24/2009, -1/+2It's a lot more difficult than you think. The Problems:
1) Limited selection of partners.
2) Damn near zero privacy on the ISS; NONE on the Shuttle.
3) Newtonian Mechanics; "For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction." To make sound more NASAish, "Unable to achieve entry interface and component interlock."
4) Big Brother is *ALWAYS* watching (and recording!), even during off-time.
5) What do you do with the bodily fluids produced?
6) Can't have a celebratory smoke for joining the 100 Mile High Club.
I could go on; but I'll stop for mow. - garamri, on 06/25/2009, -0/+1I think I'll set that as my new background.
- DaigojiGai, on 06/24/2009, -2/+3These pictures are absolutely amazing! Dare I say spectacular - nature in epic form.
I agree with Axalon - WOW! - casspa, on 06/24/2009, -2/+3Such an amazing photo, have a feeling this wont be the last time we see this one.
- ELYON1, on 06/24/2009, -0/+1"As the ISS continues its perfectly-timed flyby, . . ."
- jerryjamesstone, on 06/24/2009, -2/+3amazing shot
- ISellSigals, on 06/24/2009, -2/+3That's quite amazing

- inactive, on 06/26/2009, -0/+1The post was primarily a joke about his use of the word "*****" in that statement. I've given it more thought than you assumed.
1) I never stipulated that the space ***** would occur during our current space exploration/experimentation missions. That was your assumption.
2) See #1. Some people volunteer to participate in sex studies, as is. They don't always involve privacy. I'm sure you could still find people for a space ***** study.
3) Design the sleeping area and/or clothing with space ***** in mind. It could include velcro, straps, magnets, handles, etc.
4) See #1. Also, some people actually *prefer* being watched.
5) Apart from the increased difficulty of clean-up, it would be dealt with as other human waste.
6) I don't smoke and wouldn't care if that habit were left behind.
There will need to be space ***** experimentation sooner or later. People are already trying to come up with solutions to intimacy and sex in space. One example is called the "2Suit": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2suit - WeBeGood, on 06/24/2009, -0/+1It's most likely not the shockwave that formed the ring. I would think it's a downdraft surrounding the updraft of the mushroom cloud. A downdraft would compress the air, heating it slightly causing the cloud do vaporize.
- inactive, on 06/24/2009, -1/+2I told you that importing Tex-Mex food to Siberia was a bad idea.
- paintmeprettyx, on 06/24/2009, -0/+1The daily mail...? Really? Awesome pics, none the less.
- jimmbofish, on 06/24/2009, -2/+3See... I knew I should have become an astronaut
- crashlock, on 06/24/2009, -0/+1Because you love men.
- paradox2222, on 06/24/2009, -1/+1The ISS is so not cool...

Just ignore the fact that it was only two days ago that this was on the front page. - inactive, on 06/24/2009, -1/+1... space *****? That doesn't sound bad to me. Well, I suppose it could get a bit messy in zero gravity.
- skit4king, on 06/24/2009, -1/+1Marshmallow scramble!
- DerangedPenguin, on 06/25/2009, -1/+1Well this is really going to mess with OwlGores carbon credits.
- TIGHTY1515, on 06/24/2009, -2/+2That is nuts!
- mrbubby, on 06/24/2009, -4/+2I'm really hoping one of them turned to the other and went "I think Rosie O'Donnell just farted," followed by a hearty laugh all around, then a sigh, awkward silence, then "Space ***** blows."
- Garyland2002, on 06/24/2009, -6/+0"hole in the clouds" is also the name of my favorite sex act.
- PaulClayberg, on 06/24/2009, -9/+2These comments suck.
