- Tezdoll, on 07/24/2008, -0/+5look on the right side of the article....
"Amy Mainzer, a scientist and instrument builder, is deputy project scientist for the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer. This spaceborne telescope, scheduled to launch in 2009, will survey the entire sky." - inactive, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4i;d hit it
- Frecklefoot, on 07/24/2008, -0/+4Neat new telescope. That image is a little misleading, though. I thought the article would be about some type of infrared human scanner.
- IG64, on 07/24/2008, -0/+3It caught me off-guard that such a large area of the sky (around the Orion constellation) has so much going on. I would like to see the rest of the sky imaged like that, perhaps superimposed onto a regular night shot. I bet that would look amazing.
- servaite, on 07/24/2008, -1/+3Why is this chick's photo on the preview? I'm thinking that the cool infrared one would make more sense.
- DestroyFascism, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2I wish you could switch a standard SLR to UV or IR bands, UV if looking for ET and IR for the beach.....
But the difference is amazing in those images. - IG64, on 07/24/2008, -0/+2Yeah, but I mean like a full sky shot with the ground visible and everything. I'd like to see what it would look like from a stargazer's perspective.
- sedawk, on 07/24/2008, -1/+2OK -- nice article, but I think Amy is the story -- she's hot!
- DestroyFascism, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Its not the same..
The UV is near UV and the IR is not the correct range either. - Tezdoll, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1i'd buy that, wonder how much it would cost.
- arjie, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1I'm pretty sure they do that to a lot of those false-colour images. They overlay UV and IR on to it.
- DrJG, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Right - you miss the point servaite.
- DrJG, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Wonderful, Mainzer!
And thanks, Popper, for letting us see this. - SimpleAlex, on 12/29/2008, -0/+0Very good story!

- sinkhead, on 07/24/2008, -4/+2If the preview picture is what's coming then I'm outta here
