- matt510, on 06/16/2008, -2/+37So we are digging a story from 2003? APOD turns 13 today, NOT 8.
Here is today's 13th anniversary image: http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap080616.html
And the digg of that image: http://digg.com/space/APOD_Inside_the_Coma_Cluster ... - alapoet, on 06/16/2008, -4/+18I love the Astronomy Photo Of the Day!
- Revolutionista, on 06/16/2008, -1/+6One of the few remaining wholesome picture websites on the Internets. Cheers, and thank you.
- mgmirkin, on 06/16/2008, -3/+8Whoever Dugg this needs to be slapped on the hand. Is APOD 13 years old as the title claims, or 8 years old as the body claims? People really need to proof read for consistency!
APOD is rather amusing on the best of days. But the format is getting tired, as is the clunky method of finding things one is looking for. One would think they'd have upgraded the system by now to be a little more user-friendly and catch up with how other web sites are doing things.
C'est la vie! Happy b-day APOD. - wigginz, on 06/16/2008, -1/+5A little math can go a long way, looks like someone did a quick copy/paste and didn't bother reading it. 13 != 8
- inactive, on 06/16/2008, -0/+3Yeah, because the point of the site isn't the images, it's bandwidth-hogging flash ***** and CPU-crunching AJAX.
- kingfoot, on 06/16/2008, -2/+5are you retarded?
i think you are.
epic fail. - MacroDaemon, on 06/16/2008, -1/+4APOD's site design is perfect.
- Hermmunster, on 06/16/2008, -0/+3Appeared 8 years ago and is now 13 years old.
- zadadka, on 06/16/2008, -0/+2A very Hubble Birthday to APOD !
- jasz, on 06/16/2008, -1/+3I love APOD, but please, oh please.. someone write a better way to browse all those photos... like flickr's photostream concept.. not just the super-long list:
http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/archivepix.html - markp93, on 06/16/2008, -1/+2I see where you are going with that... but they are talking about -serving- 100mil photos, not the number of unique images.
- acetv, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1Let's go shopping!
- matt510, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1As has already been mentioned...
- matt510, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1It is somewhat ironic that you are frustrated with the poster for not reading the content of her link when I already made essentially the same comment you did, meaning you didn't actually read about what you are commenting on...
As far as the design goes, it isn't really intended to be used to find anything you want. It is designed to showcase an astronomy image every day, which it does. If you want to look up images or find other details out, use Google or Wikipedia... - inactive, on 06/16/2008, -0/+1Billions and billions...
- byronm, on 06/16/2008, -1/+2You mean you don't spend time with your family looking at pictures of our cosmos? Just what exactly do you spend time with your family doing? I'm guess you're too busy persuading them about the 2nd coming of jebus?
- badfrog, on 06/16/2008, -1/+2Math is hard.
- Albear89, on 06/16/2008, -2/+2are you retarded?
i think you are.
kingfoot -
I almost fell outta my chair! - ophello, on 06/16/2008, -1/+1So by that measure:
100 million photos. One photo a day. For 13 years. OH MY GOD THERE ARE 100 MILLION DAYS IN 13 YEARS?
*****. - LordPhilMil, on 06/16/2008, -2/+1NASA is under budget as it is, without spending time updating a website!
- sTiVo, on 06/16/2008, -2/+1Yeah, you're a dorke.
- inactive, on 06/16/2008, -3/+2i lol'd
- domjrl, on 06/16/2008, -3/+2old enough to bleed, old enough to breed
- Avaseal, on 06/16/2008, -4/+1I've already spent almost 4 years looking at sparkling things. They mostly contain whites and greens. OH and sometimes if you're lucky you can get blues or even purples!
and bury.........NOW! - Narcism, on 06/16/2008, -5/+2yes, so instead of spending time with your family, or making progress in your life, you can spend 4 years of your life looking at sparkling things.
Get a telescope. - stephenhacking, on 06/16/2008, -7/+3i wish we had a direct access to all 100million of thos pics
- inactive, on 06/16/2008, -8/+1as much as i like APOD... after 13 years, you'd think they'd come up with a better design.
- Dorke, on 06/16/2008, -13/+2You misspelled ipod....r-tard.
- stockex, on 06/16/2008, -17/+3dont u get it? digg is a mans world. this is no place for a stupid bitch. u shd be in the kitchen cooking for your husband, not posting articles. buried cause you're a female. cool pic tho.
