- biddie67, on 07/19/2009, -5/+12Even after all this time, and observing the wide range of dangerous activities that human beings will involve themselves in, I'm still amazed that these 3 men had such fortitude, courage and belief in the mission that they would put themselves into these unknown circumstances where there was no or little guarantees as to their safety and subsequent return to Earth ...... This element in certain individuals of our species will continue to amaze me.
- earthforce1, on 07/20/2009, -0/+4Hell, I would have gone in a nanosecond if I had a chance.
If I had a choice it would be Apollo 17 not Apollo 11 - 3 days on the moon instead of 3 hours, and you get to drive that cool dune buggy. - indyGuy, on 07/20/2009, -2/+6Amazing
- rocknog, on 07/20/2009, -0/+3To a conspiracy nut, there's no such thing as proof. Anything can be faked. NASA could take you to the ***** Moon themselves, and it still wouldn't be enough.
- awicks89, on 07/20/2009, -3/+5hopefully we'll be back there within 10 years
- catachip, on 07/20/2009, -0/+2There are tons of moon rock. What the hell kind of "proof" do you want? There are hours and hours of video. There are instruments left on the surface (such as mirrors) that are used to calculate lunar distance. Also, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter just captured images of the landing site itself.
The lunar landings happened, exactly the way NASA said they did. Pull your head out of your ass and grow up. No one needs to prove anything to mental cases like you. - catachip, on 07/20/2009, -0/+2Yeah, exactly. Also, I find it almost shocking how much faith these nuts have in the U.S. Government to actually pull off a coverup. I mean, these same types of folks think that 9/11 was an inside job.
You know how I know the U.S. Government isn't actually capable of all that? There were no WMDs in Iraq. It would have been a piece of cake to plant WMDs and justify that whole war. There were none there. The U.S. government is NOT, nor has it ever been, capable of the massive conspiracies (e.g., Area 51 Aliens, Moon Landing, 9/11) that people think. They can't even get something simple done like faking WMDs in Iraq! - NightC, on 07/20/2009, -0/+2Still one of the most amazing thing's humanity has ever done... to think we sent people to the moon on a pretty much regular basis is astonishing. One time you might consider yourself to have gotten lucky... but doing it 6 times blows my mind.
- TheMagician2007, on 07/20/2009, -1/+2To deny the moon landings is to deny solid evidence. It's like denying the sky is blue while refusing to look up.
- earthforce1, on 07/20/2009, -1/+2Its almost criminal that nobody has been back there in 40 years, and that none of the current astronauts who walked on the moon may live to see it happen again.
- mrmoen, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1Replace "Earth" with "home" and you've described what the men and women of our military do every day. We still have heroes. Their job just isn't as glamorous.
- Javali, on 07/20/2009, -1/+2Shopped!
To all the Moon hoax conspiracy theorists: Let it go and join the 21st century - ifruit, on 07/20/2009, -1/+2Just think about the epicness of this pic. America F' Ya!
- catachip, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1Granted, it was only for 3 years (69-72)
In the early/mid 90s there were shuttle flights every 2-3 months or so. That was when we were really making spaceflight "routine". - rocknog, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1*sigh* Conspiracy nuts depress me. It's not the sheer stupidity of their arguments, though it is annoying - it's that they refuse to accept that it's possible that mankind could've achieved anything that great. How cynical do you have to be about human progress to come to that?
- bedake, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1My new wallpaper.
- carbonfilament, on 07/20/2009, -0/+1dude...wrong window
- Ghostalker, on 07/20/2009, -0/+140 years ago man landed on the moon....
40 years later, it's amazing if a man lands a job... - carbonfilament, on 07/20/2009, -1/+1***** moon landing hoaxers. I refuse to watch or listen to anyone so deluded.
- paloooz, on 07/20/2009, -2/+1This is the best APOD ever!
