- Bactame, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1Interesting that so many of the dimmer stars appear to lie along mostly straight lines and arcs. This implies that they are at a constant distance from us.and not all that far away.
- k7jeb, on 07/15/2009, -1/+1I think the dust clouds are in a densely populated part of the Milky Way and are being illuminated by nearby stars. The 'silvery' color is due to this light being a single reflection from the dust rather than the multiple, bluish reflections common with reflection nebulae. However, if one cranks up the chrominance gain (saturation) on the image, the clouds are seen to possess a slight bluish tint.

What is between the camera's eye and those dust clouds that would light the dust clouds up like that?
Is this a view through a dense part of the Milky Way Galaxy?
