Really nice picture thank you for submission - suford, on 08/02/2009, -1/+2I agree. The difficulty is more that we are so likely to be distant in space or time from any civilizations that we might get to meet! Just because the probabilities are good that they exist doesn't mean we'll ever see 'em. :-{
- buddyw, on 08/03/2009, -0/+1I hope they don't try to communicate with us through sarcasm.
- deev, on 08/02/2009, -1/+2Does anyone else see longcat in there?
- buddyw, on 08/02/2009, -1/+2yep...we are definitely alone in the universe.
- Typokitty, on 08/02/2009, -2/+3Truly a star is born! How beautiful it is that our universe is still expanding!
- inactive, on 08/02/2009, -1/+1Wow- this one has a little bit of everything going on: HI, HII, Bok globules...
Quite the busy star factory - dp2ihs, on 08/02/2009, -1/+1It's possible, but very unlikely, that we're alone. Given the number of Sun-like stars, recently discovered planets and the variety of spectrographically measured organic compounds in interstellar gas, I'd say there might be plenty of life out there. Some on it might even be intelligent.
