One page. - ddawggin, on 07/20/2009, -5/+159The moon landing conspiracy is all a conspiracy to discredit conspiracy theorists so Bush could get away with 9/11.
/s - redfan, on 07/20/2009, -11/+162Conspiracy theorists don't care about "logic". As far as they're concerned, if you disagree with them, then you're either in on it or too stupid to understand their arguments.

This is all the proof I will ever need. - consonance, on 07/20/2009, -8/+95OH GOD, LOGIC. Quick, where's Alex Jones?
- MastaQ, on 07/20/2009, -2/+89Truman: Take the alien to Area 51!
General: But sir, that's where we're building the fake moon landing set!
Truman: Then we're going to have to really land on the moon! Invent NASA and tell them to get off their fannies! - drifty914, on 07/20/2009, -0/+78Can't believe they left off the lunar laser ranging retroreflector array. Its the coup de grĂ¢ce to the conspiracy theorists.

- slowth, on 07/20/2009, -2/+60Then you don't understand the Cold War.
- Slackdragon, on 07/20/2009, -3/+59I just spent the past 20 minutes on YouTube perusing moon conspiracy vids and reading the so-called "thoughts" of pseudo-intellectual moon troothers...
I actually feel nauseated that some people are so actively stupid. They drip with arrogance and dismiss anyone and anything that bursts their little bubble of conspiracy as "in on it". Either that, or you're considered a simpleton who has been brainwashed by the media arm of the ruling elite.
It's staggering the level of contempt they have for rationality and overwhelming empirical evidence. Of course, they see someone like me as a diametric mirror opposite, and might say I have ignored "overwhelming empirical evidence". You could bash their head in with a moon rock and they'd still deny it.
It literally turns my stomach. - fangor, on 07/20/2009, -1/+54LOL I can't stop watching that. Proves how much research that guy did before confronting him. I mean, the guy DID get the Air Force Distinguished Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, two Distinguished Flying Crosses, and three Air Medals...calling the guy a coward is a 10 on the asking-for-it-o-meter
- Brak710101, on 07/20/2009, -5/+57The space shuttle never landed on the moon. Nor did anything from the Shuttle program.
- Mankind121, on 07/20/2009, -3/+53I think we can use a 5 facts why askmen.com sucks hard
- anonymous10, on 07/20/2009, -0/+496: Buzz Aldrin will bruise your face if you question it.
- kitsua, on 07/20/2009, -1/+46Mapping of the human genome, the internet, LHC, etc; etc;
- decyx, on 07/20/2009, -0/+41"On September 9, 2002, filmmaker Bart Sibrel, a proponent of the Apollo moon landing hoax theory, confronted Aldrin and his granddaughter outside a Beverly Hills, California hotel. Sibrel confronted Aldrin, stating 'You're the one who said you walked on the moon and you didn't' and called Aldrin 'a coward and a liar'. Aldrin responded at this point by punching Sibrel in the face. Beverly Hills police and the city's prosecutor declined to file charges after other witnesses reported that Sibrel had initiated physical contact."
I just love happy endings. - suprememilo, on 07/20/2009, -0/+39Apollo 13 would have made it if they were fake...
- Shazbuckle, on 07/20/2009, -1/+40From a neutral point of view (Irish) I would like to say ***** you.
- cagey, on 07/20/2009, -1/+37Holy christ balls... look at the comments... Conspiracy theorists cannot be convinced.
- Sornos, on 07/20/2009, -2/+37Yes it does. All things need proof. To believe something without proof, regardless of what it is, is exactly the type of behavior that articles like these try to rebuke.
- Browzer, on 07/20/2009, -1/+35I think it is time to ignore the moon-walk conspiracy theorists. All they want is attention. In fact, CNN.com had a front page story on them last week.
It's not like their concerns were not addressed. Every single "fact" they have "proving" the moon landing didn't happen has been debunked. At this point, they are just a waste of everyone's time. Let's spend our precious moments recognizing what those engineers and astronauts achieved, not debating wackos. - InstantRepeater, on 07/20/2009, -0/+31No, Futurama.
- NightC, on 07/20/2009, -2/+33Well if you did a little research you would know that no telescope from earth or even the hubble can see that small of an area with that great of detail to actually see anything.
However, the link below provides the evidence you speak of, but it was taken by a lunar probe orbiting the moon.
http://digg.com/space/APOLLO_LANDING_SITES_IMAGED_ ... - Decimit, on 07/20/2009, -1/+32I think it is comical that some people are still having this debate. I have met a few of the people that believe the moon landing never happened. They all share the exact same arguments. All of their arguments have been disproven but for some strange reason they keep repeating them. It always seemed odd that many of the "moon hoaxers" did quite a bit of research on the topic, but stopped as soon as they hit something they didn't understand that they believed could the that smoking gun, and for some reason any new information, new to them at least, doesn't belong into their collection of "facts" since they have already made up their mind despite the facts and they just continue to roll with their preconceived opinion.
- KingGorilla, on 07/20/2009, -2/+32What? Super Nintendo!
- gren99, on 07/20/2009, -0/+29honestly, the laser reflector array is really all the proof anyone should need. if we never landed there, how exactly did it get up there and positioned and aligned properly?
uh-huh. - Mujokan, on 07/20/2009, -0/+28If you think about it, Fry not only became his own grandfather, he also saved his future self. Because he caused the accident that sent him back in time, they did the Moon landings for real, and therefore the lander was there for them to shelter in in episode two.
- TexasShiv, on 07/20/2009, -5/+33I can't believe this is still a topic being discussed.
- BaphClass, on 07/20/2009, -1/+28<citation needed>
- CrazyChair, on 07/20/2009, -2/+28Exactly... Just like the flat-earthers that still exist to this day, they would pretty much have to see it for themselves to be convinced that it's not a conspiracy (and even then it's not guaranteed).
- Frostek, on 07/20/2009, -1/+26The UK would also like to add a "***** you" as a show of international support. :-)
- thejackyl, on 07/20/2009, -0/+25pshhh, the internet? Who even uses that thing?
- Lykil, on 07/20/2009, -0/+24I NEVER tire of seeing this.
- snafflepaffle, on 07/20/2009, -1/+25The five that seem to cement it for me are:
1: The soviets would have figured it out.
2: Why fake it over and over.
3: Laser reflector array
4: Why fake Apollo 13. (as above)
5: Recent photos of the landers. (although I guess hose could be fake too.) - Disgod, on 07/20/2009, -0/+24ugh, the old "why haven't we been back" argument is so tiresome. It shows a complete lack of understanding of pretty much everything about the moon missions, the politics of the era, and economics.
The moon missions were a purely political endeavour, which scientists got to piggyback and do some cool research with. There is a reason why it was called the Space race, we wanted to beat the Russians and vice versa so no one gave a damn about how much money it cost. Once we got there the mission was accomplished. We accomplished what we set out to do, we beat the Russians. Once we beat the Russians to the moon, all the Apollo missions had left was the science, but the scientific advancements we might have made didn't outweigh the astronomical costs of the moon missions. The moon missions ended for the same reason as the SSC in Texas, people lost interest and the program lost funding. It cost too much for too little gain. - sgtbutterscotch, on 07/20/2009, -0/+23Argh, why do I always go the submitted article and read comments in the wrong order?
- zaffir, on 07/20/2009, -0/+23You just blew my mind.
- Railz, on 07/20/2009, -2/+25The Lunar Module was designed and built here on Long Island. Say that it was faked to any Grumman Engineer here and you'll be promptly punched in the face, ala Buzz Aldrin style.
- MastaQ, on 07/20/2009, -0/+23Because it's really, really expensive.
- legendxx, on 07/20/2009, -1/+24http://xkcd.com/202/
- dandaman0345, on 07/20/2009, -1/+23yes actually they have an observatory with a huge ***** laser inside it which they shine at it and then measure the distance from the earth to the moon and they showed all the details of it on National television....now that is a ***** of people that would have to be in on it
- JefffN, on 07/20/2009, -0/+22You can shoot a laser at the reflector left on the moon, and detect it bouncing back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orvMZn8L1f0
I'd love to hear the conspiracy theorists explanation of that. Probably has something to do with the rock with the 'C' on it. - GenerousLinus, on 07/20/2009, -0/+22Because you are trying to be an intelligent, respectful person who reads the article before you comment on it.
- strictnein, on 07/20/2009, -0/+21How does one make a reflector on the moon unaccessible?
- Dregganaut, on 07/20/2009, -0/+20I wasn't aware of the ancient egyptian tenement buildings.
- DaviDTC, on 07/20/2009, -0/+20Do you know what happened 40 years ago right now?
- kitsua, on 07/20/2009, -2/+22Reminds me very much of the young-earth creationist 'arguments'. Honestly, that one's a real shocker to anyone outside the US - we simply can't believe that it's a debate at all, let alone at a National level and is seriously threatening the education system.
Like the moon deniers, you just end up staring at them, wondering if it's contagious. - kitsua, on 07/20/2009, -1/+20Hi! You must be new here...
- jumbalia, on 07/20/2009, -0/+19Most of those structures took the economic and labour resources of an entire civilization all for the benefit of a very few elites. If the US took all the bail out money and decided to spend it on a monument commemorating Obama's election, I'm sure whatever they built would last longer than the pyramids ever have, or will.
