- pintomp3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Increase my killing power, eh?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -2/+12I can't be the only sucker that learned to masturbate with his left hand because I couldn't mouse with my left?
I'm mousing with my left hand currently to give it a shot... mousing is more difficult to learn with the left hand, imo - overaction, on 07/14/2009, -1/+10"Might I suggest a little brain training...?"
-Dr. Ryuta Kawashima - KevenM, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8#4. Remember what your wife told you 1 week ago.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Hah. Now I wish I didn't waste my time looking at the article.
- zeromancer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+64. Stop smoking pot all the time (works for me when i feel a bit cloudy in the ol' brain)
- TrojanGuy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7I am so smart. S-M-R-T.
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Actually, cannabis improves higher brain functions by over 1000%. It also cures HIV.
-Your average friendly neighborhood Digger - r00tus3r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4space? Why is this in the 'space' section? What exactly is the submitter insinuating?
- SparkyMaGee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4increase my killing power, eh? - Homer
- AKron, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Ya, exactly!
I'm left-handed, so #1 is a given in this world
I'm old, so forcing myself to remember is a way of life
I get frustrated when I don't remember, so I play little games like "wallet, wallet, where's the wallet" - datastorageguy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Impossible.
- drakenlot, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Brain Age and the like is the only proven way to increase your brain. The rest is hogwash
- capiCrimm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2but how are you supposed to hold down the gerbil and cut off it's head with one hand?
- plizard, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2yay for tetris
- GreenxGiraffe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Shut up already.
- sensical, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You can increase your intelligence by thinking.
- arbulus, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2If you use your left hand, it feels like someone else.
using my left hand to mouse throws off my ability to use my keyboard as well. everything just feels akward. - chyya, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2no you might not
- unearth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1wow somebody beat me to it
- drakenlot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That's only cause you learned originally with your right, I'm left-handed and learned off the bat to mouse with my right.
Only cause I'm too lazy to switch the buttons every new comp I get on. - capiCrimm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I taught myself to write backwards with my left hand(bout 2 years now). I can write fine, but I'm still slightly too slow to take notes in a lecture. I can also draw and do other things. One of the nice things about doing it was I got to "relearn" how to write to make the letter shapes more efficient, and that transfered over to my right hand.
Good times to practice are writing down notes or filling out forms. The hardest letters are q,p,g,j, and s. Capitals are also tricky since you write them less. Took me about two months to get good, and it's quite a bit of fun to suddenly switch hands when your writing in front of someone. Relieves wrist and hand cramping, and overall is better then a simple mouse switch, imho.
Using two hand simultaneously, however, is still beyond me. - capiCrimm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1for those finding it hard to cut back, I recommend eating lead paint chips or sucking on some mercury to ease the cravings. Twice as good for nicotine addiction.
- jkharris07, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Im going to have to try switching the mousepad to the other side. I dont know how long that will last though.
- unearth, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Increase my killing power, eh?...
- CoolWind, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"Scientific research confirmed that people that use both hands equally have 10% more nerve fibers joining the two sides of the brain." hmmm.... maybe, just maybe, that's why they are ambidexterous!
- Xinex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1simpsons quote
- Haphazardness, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What if you only had a right-handed mouse?
- noumuon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1when you say you taught yourself to write backwards with your left hand, do you mean that you wrote so that it looked normal in a mirror or..?
- mojaam, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1That pretty much says it, I saw this on digg spy long ago but never though people will actually digg it enough to make it to homepage.
- capiCrimm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1yes, normal in a mirror. Although I can do it normal-normal I was mainly trying to copy Da Vinci.
- darwinadvocate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Switching the mouse pad might increase intelligence but it would certainly lessen productivity.
- Derrekito, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Adderall ftw!
- mountaincable, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Thank you
- Icetype, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0#4 Post on digg. Capchas are impossible.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0There is no evidence that switching the mouse pad will increase anything... You might refine your other-handed coordination for *that act only* - but that's hardly a boon to quote as boosted brain power. Unless you count being able to masturbate effectively with both hands a bonus.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0lol, whatever. I'm guessing you spend a lot of money on "subliminal" learning tapes? If you were really inducing the "theta state" while "learning", you would be fast asleep. Tone down the science fiction please. Lighting a few candles and putting on the Barry Manilow might calm your betas and boost your alphas a bit, but theta and delta do not occur until the brain is well into deep stasis or REM sleep - neither of which are states which are able to interpret the external world. You might be able to brainstorm creatively in deep meditation, but you aren't going to be reading a physics textbook while you're doing it. And while we're on the "theory" of the usefulness of theta waves, keep in mind that other research suggests those who suffer from ADD or autism are locked into an abnormal theta state -
You remind me of the people that say smoking weed helps them "focus" instead of just admitting they are stoned. - silou1a, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0You can use binaural beats to enter different states of awareness they have found entering the theta state helps increase learning... I found from personal experience if you use the right/wrong mix of wavelengths (depending on your view) it will make you feel high.
- 3migre, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0This one works for sure. Nothing's worse than ol' good 'stupid brain'...
- drakenlot, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1I am left-handed, so it works perfectly well already for me.
- noumuon, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1actually, your brain is generally producing a mixture of all the differing frequency ranges. it's when you sleep that theta and delta, at various points in the sleep cycle, becomes the dominant output frequency ranges. oh, and about the weed thing, let's play chess some time while i'm stoned. as long as it's not speed chess, you've already lost. :P
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Niether has worked well for me..
- Rtsight, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1While developing neural connections between left and right hemispheres is great, on average it's noted that ambidextrous people have a lot more psychosocial problems than the rest. So for children, it's best to keep them single handed.
- pkramer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Well I taught myself how to write with both hands out of necessity in my early college career, so I don't think that's that case. (too bad I can only write with one hand at a time)
- wimmers, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Just put your keyboard on the other side too - I started typing left handed - I'm already on level 8 of brain age!
- sophia269, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0think - think - observe - think again
that will improve you brain power - Acolyte357, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1or try reading the ***** article
- ReallyOswald, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Switching the side of your mouse pad would definitely throw me off for the next 10 billion years.
