Co-Pilot: Oh my God, it looks like a huge--
Bird-Watching Woman: Pecker!
Bird-Watching Man: Where?
Bird-Watching Woman: Over there. What sort of bird is that? Oh goodness, it's not a bird, it's--

Colonel: Johnson!
Radar Operator: Yes, sir?
Colonel: Get on the horn to British Intelligence and let them know about this. - Shreder1, on 06/28/2009, -0/+35I gotta admit, I will digg anything that has to do with NASA.
- Vanderkeif, on 06/28/2009, -3/+32BILLY MAYS HERE... NOTHING CLEANS OFF SPACE DUST QUITE LIKE KABOOM, BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!
- osteor10, on 06/28/2009, -2/+26"I don't know, sir, but it looks like a giant.."
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -0/+14Watched it from my patio. There was a big storm that passed right over the cape 1 hour before the launch. I shot these two pictures 1 hour and 8 minutes apart.

On a clear day I can see the launch pads and the vehicle assembly building. - ViperCTW, on 06/28/2009, -0/+14Yea, stupid losers launching satellites that analyze boring ***** like global weather patterns. We should be taking vacations to Jupiter and banging green space bitches by now!
- geezergeek, on 06/28/2009, -0/+8Nice. You have some reason to hate the ordinary people of North Korea enough to kill them with nuclear weapons? Troll or not, there are enough of you similarly stupid.
- Doomguy13, on 06/28/2009, -2/+9IF YOU CALL IN THE NEXT THIRTY MINUTES, WE'LL THROW IN ANOTHER KABOOM, ABSOLUTELY FREE! (JUST PAY SHIPPING AND HANDLING)
SO... CALL NOW! - DpNo1, on 06/28/2009, -0/+7"Johnson!"
- BaphClass, on 06/28/2009, -2/+9"Dong! Where is my automobile?!"
- SitPoMk, on 06/29/2009, -2/+8THAT'S EXTREMELY DEBATABLE. FIRST OF ALL PLEASE EXCUSE MY CAPS AS A TRIBUTE TO BILLY MAYS.
NOW, NASA IS VERY COOL AND THE THINGS WE SEE ON APOD AND SUCH ARE ABSOLUTELY MIND BLOWING. HOWEVER, THERE ARE OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER IN OUR SOCIETY OTHER THAN COOL PICTURES AND A NEW STAT ON "THE NEW BRIGHTEST STAR IN THE MILKY WAY". THINGS THAT IMPACT US DIRECTLY OR ANYONE ON THIS EARTH FOR THAT MATTER. IF I PUT IT HARSHLY, OTHER THINGS MATTER MORE. PERSONALLY I WOULD RATHER SEE EXTRA MONEY GO TO THE PEACE CORPS SO A CHILD DOESN'T STARVE RATHER THAN GAZE AT A BEAUTIFUL PICTURE OF OUR GALAXY FOR A COUPLE SECONDS AND POSSIBLY SET IT AS MY BACKGROUND. WOULDN'T YOU?
I KNOW I'M ONLY SCRATCHING THE SURFACE OF WHAT NASA IS CAPABLE OF SO DON'T START FLAMING ME ON HOW THEY DO MUCH MORE THAN GIVE US COOL PHOTOS AND REACH OUT TO MARS BUT, AS I SAID BEFORE, OTHER THINGS MATTER MORE.
I'M STARTING TO THINK THIS ALL CAPS IS MORE ANNOYING RATHER THAN FUNNY .. BUT WHY STOP NOW. - nard3456, on 06/29/2009, -0/+6THAT'S THE POWER OF THE DELTA IV ROCKET!
- GreenLynx, on 06/28/2009, -0/+5BILLY MAYS IS NOW A MEME
- spargonaut, on 06/29/2009, -0/+5AT LEAST UNTIL JUNE 29TH!!!
BUT WAIT! I'M SURE THERES MORE! - cawfee, on 06/28/2009, -0/+4Close enough.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5w_DqhpMuFY - cake3412, on 06/28/2009, -0/+3Hey now, don't knock the weather satellite; they're vital to almost everyone's every day life....
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -0/+3You can see the shuttle launch from just about anywhere in FL, but I'm really close in Satellite Beach.
Here are two shuttle launches I caught on video:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8Z8veb0FyI - premiumballin, on 06/28/2009, -0/+2And the NOAA for that matter...
- tgc1, on 06/29/2009, -0/+2I'd like to agree with your comment, but when the government of the United States spends trillions of dollars fighting a useless non-winnable war, I have to say that NASA does indeed deserve way more money than it gets. At least with NASA we get something for the money instead of throwing it all into a black hole like with the military.
- RogerStrong, on 06/28/2009, -0/+2"No bucks, no Buck Rogers"
Congress controls what NASA does, by controlling its budget line item by line item. For many years it would kill any project that looked like it had anything to do with sending people beyond low-earth orbit.
Even the Space Station only got funding because the State Department wanted to use it as a way to keep Russian rocket scientists employed and not working for Iran and others.
NASA has a very good record for doing what it gets approval to do. - brenan999, on 06/29/2009, -0/+2Mr. Snook... it appears that you have something in your snizz.
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -0/+1Thats so badass. i know a lot of people in Florida can see the launches, like the last shuttle they flew up there.
- patRIOTik, on 06/28/2009, -3/+4Delta IV is an awesome vehicle, I have the privilege to work very closely with them.
- consoneo, on 06/28/2009, -0/+1Check out their enormous runaway budget! How could they not do anything worthwhile with one of those?
Oh wait... - yaboyAllen, on 06/29/2009, -0/+1Was expecting "O face."
- rawnnie, on 06/29/2009, -0/+1Wow, simply amazing. What a serene location to be in, not only because of being able to see the launches, but also because of that beach! Nice.
- lostngone, on 06/29/2009, -1/+2Hopefully this one will last awhile. They have had a lot of bad luck with some of those GOES birds.
- inactive, on 06/29/2009, -0/+1It's not insurmountable to buy or rent here, right now it's pretty cheap.
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -1/+1Affirmative Captain or Affirmative Action, pick one, we can't afford to carry both on our backs.
- klipseracer, on 06/29/2009, -1/+1Why don't we all wear our underwear on our heads in tribute to someone. ***** stupid. Just pay your respects and type normal before my eyes have a seizure and you'll be typing in capitals for me.
- Xaevier, on 06/29/2009, -2/+2That's what she said.
- mathyou87, on 06/29/2009, -2/+2That looks very hot.
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -2/+2Dude, come on.Weather Satellites?.
Even Buzz Aldrin admits NASA has basically stagnated since Apollo. - anthropodeus, on 06/28/2009, -2/+2am i the only one who felt a little let down at finding out that GOES-O is just a weather satellite? this is kind of lame. there's not even much of an article.
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -3/+2I wonder how long were all going to have to endure the "ALL CAPS BILLY MAYS QUOTES"
- dark2025, on 06/29/2009, -5/+1Oh no, not another boring space launch. Change the channel. Change the channel!
- inactive, on 06/28/2009, -10/+3Watch it get shooped by North Korea.
- masala23, on 06/28/2009, -10/+2*off
**actually it could be "of" if you're saying that the liftoff is for 'GOES-O'
***now that I think about it...."off" makes NO sense.....my bad! - inactive, on 06/28/2009, -10/+2Do any of you believe in extraterrestrials? Or the findings of Stitchin? I would like to hear opinions from the people of Digg.
- BoutDemCanes91, on 06/28/2009, -16/+5NASA sucks, we should have colonized *****' Mars by now, they haven't made anything special since the Moon landings, and that was like 40 years ago.
We should have Mickey D's and Holiday Inn's over there by now... - AndrewSnook, on 06/28/2009, -18/+0Too bad it's not a nuke aimed for North Korea.
