37 miles is still 13 miles short of space though

Since it lands under power, couldn’t this be used to actually go somewhere as opposed to returning to where you started? Once at that altitude it could reach impressive speeds.

I could see this as the ultimate status symbol for well-heeled celebs.

Even VG's offerings are over 60 miles... and they only have 5 minutes of weightlessness.

It looks very similar to the X-20 DynaSoar, a re-usable spaceplane that Boeing was building for the Air Force in the 1960s that was canceled as part of the Vietnam budget crunch.

Sub-orbital planes have very, very different needs from orbital ones, it's interesting that the design of this happens to (at least superficially) mirror the aerodynamics of the orbital X-20. Perhaps XCOR plans to collect data from the Lynx that could be applied to a followup craft with somewhat expanded characteristics.

Interesting to see how much it will cost? I know Virgin is charging $200,000 pp for a single trip of I think 20 mins weightlessness and the best view {and case of vertigo} you will ever have,no doubt it will become a fashionable celebrity accessory trip.Its shaping up to becoming a massive business of the 21st century,I know Branson one year ago sold his shares in Virgin records to concentrate on other businesses espicially Virgin Galactic.As soon as the prices come down I'm there.

No way I could ever afford it. Unless, for some reason, prices come down significantly. But I'd want to go a lot further and for a lot longer! Can't wait until pedestrian space travel is a true reality.
