- bossm4n, on 07/17/2009, -0/+19That was quite informative and very interesting. I never get tired of hearing stuff about Apollo 11.
- FKnight, on 07/17/2009, -2/+12Just stopping in to bury the inevitable "moon landings were a hoax" comments. Carry on.
- sklassen, on 07/16/2009, -0/+9FTA: "Three sweaty men had been cooped up in a very small space for more than a week. Bags filled with excrement had piled up in storage bins as the days passed. To make matters worse, the astronauts were suffering from severe flatulence by the end of the mission because of hydrogen bubbles in their drinking water. "
Oh god... it's like a hippy roadtrip times 10. - RogerStrong, on 07/17/2009, -0/+6People who deny the moon landings only prove the maxim that no conspiracy theory is too my-mother-only-lets-me-eat-with-a-spoon-stupid for someone to believe it.
- RogerStrong, on 07/17/2009, -0/+6Submorons spout conspiracy theories. Don't shoot the messenger.
Tinfoil-hatter lies. That's just what they do. - inactive, on 07/17/2009, -0/+5I live on the moon and I didn't see no damn astronauts on it.
- ApokalypseNow, on 07/17/2009, -0/+5I can't believe people still think the moon landing was a hoax.
- syntaxgs, on 07/17/2009, -1/+5it a nice ship too =D
- spookyttws, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4"7. The Story Behind the Plaque: This stainless steel plaque stayed on the moon, attached to the ladder on the Lunar Module. Officials chose the words "We came in peace" instead of "We come in peace" so it wouldn't sound like a bad movie line."
Not that I'm doubting the research of the AOL News team, but is that really the reason they went with the past tense version, or did it simply make more sense in the context? - andrewh7, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4What about the Alien base they found?
- ostracize, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4RTFA
Aldrin said the blast from the lunar lander taking off might have knocked the unstable flag over. - DigDugDigger, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4Wasn't a base for long after Buzz got through with it.
- ostracize, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4So the flag probably isn't even standing anymore. I didn't know that. Interesting.
- sildude, on 07/17/2009, -0/+4Several mirrors were placed on the surface of the moon during the Apollo missions and they are used frequently to get exact Earth Moon distance measurements by using a laser. Explain that hoaxers.
- SushiCW, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3The blast when they launched. RTFA.
- Pillage, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3Jethro Tull ***** rocks.
- zyklon, on 07/17/2009, -1/+4Troll harder.
- stevenbrown, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3Why is digg such a pile of ***** with spam these days?
- DouglasQ, on 07/17/2009, -0/+3I bet there's a really interesting 12th thing which they cut to make the article more thematic.
- GenerousLinus, on 07/17/2009, -1/+4How the ***** did they smell the moon? I suppose they could sniff their suits after getting back on board but you'd think there would be some kind of protocols against that. Edit : Ah, I didn't notice there was an actual article under the slideshow. Still kind of alarming that they didn't have some kind of airlock and were basically breathing moon dust when they came back in the lander. Lucky there was no microorganisms on the moon.
- GenerousLinus, on 07/17/2009, -1/+3Better troll harder, that was awful close to an intelligible sentence.
- oldhick, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2We know that it was not a hoax.
- rectangle, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2"They changed "landed" to "set foot" because of the suspicion that the Russians had already landed an unmanned craft on the moon." I don't think so after all NASA had already landed on the moon 5 times: http://nssdc.gsfc.nasa.gov/planetary/lunar/surveyo ...
- Kickinuarou, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2it also marks my 18th birthday(serious)
I always have loved astronomy, Big fan of Neil Degrasse Tyson too - vlladin, on 07/17/2009, -0/+21. The Moon Smells
2. The Spacecraft Smelled
3. Neil Armstrong Smells, Too
Great info. - raks1991, on 07/17/2009, -0/+2Hippies.They're everywhere. They wanna save the earth, but all they do is smoke pot and smell bad.-Cartman
- touchinmyself, on 07/17/2009, -1/+2To all those screaming hoax im sure the moon people are saying the same about our black president.
"Clearly he was photoshopped zorgax you can tell by the pixels."
Not everything our government does is a hoax or cover up just most of it. - elliotclowes, on 07/19/2009, -0/+1notice how the article didn't mention the fifty tonnes of litter they left behind. it pretty much says all they left behind was a nice pretty plaque with good will wishes.
- oldhick, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1a meteor?
- Kelpesh, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1your so lucky, i was born just before the landings and spent the rest of my life reading and watching videos but never seeing any thing really new live. I am awful proud of the mars rovers going over their life expectancy but there really should be men there by now.
- adamk0310, on 07/19/2009, -0/+1I think Apollo 11 really landed on Mars and just used fancy photo filters to make it look like the moon!
/s - sildude, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1Actually they were real.
- eadnams, on 07/17/2009, -0/+1maybe we can check when we go back :)
- zyklon, on 07/17/2009, -2/+2Troll harder.
- technobyte, on 07/21/2009, -0/+0http://digg.com/space/Apollo_11_Man_who_programmed ...
Don Eyles, a 23-year-old self-described "beatnik" who had just graduated from Boston University and was set the task of programming the software for the Moon landing. The Apollo Guidance Computer (AGC) was designed to be lightweight, robust and consume less power than a 60 watt light bulb. - Nothlit, on 07/17/2009, -1/+1I am a firm believer that we landed on the moon. However, why do you say that those mirrors must have been placed by humans? NASA had put robotic landers on the moon prior to the Apollo missions...
- eatporktoo, on 07/17/2009, -2/+1if it was standing at one time, what could have knocked it over? the wind? oh wait... the rain? oh wait...
- Stoyanov, on 07/17/2009, -2/+1Dugg for making an obscure reference to it being a hoax.
- Rhydeble, on 07/17/2009, -4/+2So we also defiled outer space with that scourge we call religion? I'm getting less and less hope for mankind.
- robert99a, on 07/17/2009, -3/+1This article should really get its "facts" straight.
- RhymeThyme, on 07/17/2009, -4/+1Government spies? Just when you drop deuce.
- bobo105, on 07/17/2009, -9/+4Fake! The pictures have been photoshopped; you can tell by the pixels.
- Stoyanov, on 07/17/2009, -7/+2I guess we will never know whether or not it was a hoax, but it is showing enough that no man has walked on the Moon since 1972. Technology has gone through many breakthroughs, surely it would be much easier to plan and possibly finance another mission.
- slickmick, on 07/17/2009, -12/+2I can't believe people still think we went to the moon.
