- redfox2600, on 08/09/2009, -2/+232That's pretty nice of you to teach your old man how to download porn.
- vsujohn2, on 08/09/2009, -4/+161AND THE MPAA!
- suprfli, on 08/09/2009, -2/+133Hands down the best BT client out there. So simple to use that I can set my 62 year old dad up on it and all he has to do is click a torrent link on the sites I give him. Also, feature rich enough that I can use it and tweak it to perfection. Very robust while being very intuitive! Great app and it's free...
- cJw314, on 08/09/2009, -4/+130Or just use the "u" because no one really cares.
I'd rather people know how to use there/their/they're. - EnTaroTassadar, on 08/09/2009, -1/+120Of the three characters you typed in your comment, I only know how to do one of them. :(

With the recent TPB news, remember to switch over to openbittorrent.com and use mininova / btjunkie. - inactive, on 08/09/2009, -2/+54Very well done. Loving it right now.

Yes, they got bought out by BitTorrent, Inc.. who has worked with the content providers for content distribution, but can show me where they've done anything bad?
I'm all for '***** the RIAA!!', but it's more their actions I hate then than the entity itself.
If they (BitTorrent, Inc) are indeed working with the RIAA for content distribution, that's a step in the right direction -- admittedly YEARS late, but a step in the right direction none the less. To me it just means the whole ?company? (RIAA) hasn't gone completely ***** insane. - AngelBunny, on 08/09/2009, -1/+43No. All p2p (peer to peer) is a form of DCC (direct cable connection) in which you expose your IP to who you're downloading from and they expose their IP as well. This removes the privacy of users.
However, if you're worried about it you could try peer guardian or other similar programs. This is designed to not make your connection private but to block known RIAA/MPAA IP addresses that might want to sue you. The next level is private bit torrent trackers where the RIAA/MPAA do not sue from. The next level up is getting a proxy like a vpn or a seedbox. These usually cost money and depending on the setup it could either degrade your speed or accelerate it. The next step in security above that is having a hacked internet connection (or use someone elses connection). If your ISP can't find you not even the FBI will be able to (easily). This can be highly illegal but free and fast if done right. The next step in privacy above that is a non DCC type connection like newsgroups, RS or darknets (direct download), ftp pubs, fxp boards, fxp aka topsites, and so on...
Choose your level of paranoia and go from there. ;) - InorganicMatter, on 08/09/2009, -8/+48They're a "Good Citizen" when they release the source code and prove they aren't in bed with the MAFIAA.
- inactive, on 08/09/2009, -0/+36Of course it can. And one day, maybe it will.
- EnTaroTassadar, on 08/09/2009, -25/+61Get a real computer.

- twiztidsinz, on 08/09/2009, -0/+26You mean bloat...
There's PLENTY of IRC clients out there that would most likely do a better job than uTorrentIRC would do and it would also most likely pull down the performance of uTorrent. - npsken, on 08/10/2009, -0/+26I believe you will find that the program is called uTorrent.
It's located at utorrent.com
The executable is called utorrent.exe
The folder in "Program Files" is called utorrent
The first line in the wikipedia page on µTorrent puts uTorrent as an alternate name. "It gets the 'µ' in its name from the SI prefix "micro" meaning one one-millionth and it refers to the program's small footprint."
The mu at the beginning is just to look cool in logos and refer to a small footprint.
And how exactly is it a pig? - yoshiboy, on 08/09/2009, -4/+29***** you and your pretentious Ayn Rand *****.
- BloodWenis, on 08/09/2009, -0/+25Set my 62-yr old Dad up on TVTorrents.com. He gets all his shows there, has them delivered via RSS, and loves to brag about not paying for premium channels!
- twiztidsinz, on 08/09/2009, -1/+25What features is it lacking?
- infinityredux, on 08/09/2009, -2/+25Like this:
µ - l800LEMMINGS, on 08/09/2009, -2/+25i loved the windows client of utorrent
i was extremely dissappointed with the mac version i hope this clears it up and they're more comparable - suprfli, on 08/09/2009, -1/+24There are some things you don't need to teach people and they learn it on their own very quickly and easily. I have no doubt that downloading porn is one of those things. =)
For the record, he downloads TV shows that he might've missed b/c he doesn't have a DVR. As an example, when he fell asleep on the couch while watching the Battlestar Galactica finale he was pretty bummed but then I showed him how to use BT and he was no longer bummed. - inactive, on 08/09/2009, -0/+22Then the banks can sue the government for building roads that bank robbers used for a getaway.
- Po0py, on 08/09/2009, -0/+21September, 2005. Sheesh. Was it that long ago? I was using uTorrent since v0.3, I think. Even back then it was the best.
- EnTaroTassadar, on 08/09/2009, -5/+25Nah, I was going for the "my computer has a better office suite than yours and semi-transparent titlebars" elitism.

- AngelBunny, on 08/09/2009, -6/+24Off topic: If anyone needs an excellent defense against the RIAA/MPAA a lawyer friend of mine got the RIAA to settle for $0.00 recently. - rnawky, on 08/10/2009, -0/+18Every version of uTorrent combined is still less than that Azureus/Vuze Java crap.
